Process Design Engineer:

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in the review of the ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals
stage, provide process input to other disciplines, review techno-commercial vendor offers.

2. Prepare the Technical Document Register (TDR) for process activities, plan and participate in
the preparation and checking of the Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Process
Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFD’s), Heat and Material Balance, Utility and
Instrument Flow Diagrams, Process Safety Diagrams, Material Selection Flow Diagrams
(MSD’s), Equipment Data Sheets, and other required diagrams and documents. Identify and
resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of
technical queries to projects/client.

3. Verify feasibility of process specification contained in the Feed Packages through the use of
Process Simulation software such as HYSYS and PIPESIM. Perform comparison reports
and evaluate Feed Data Sheets with heat-and-mass balance.

4. Perform studies and prepare reports including calculation of equipment design conditions,
equipment sizing case selection, equipment type selection.

5. Prepare or check design and equipment calculations and diagrams for identification and
verification of equipment requirements including calculations for valve sizes, pumps,
vessels, exchangers, columns, safety valves, control valves, shutdown valves, line sizing, logic
diagrams, logic diagrams, adequacy checks, Relief and Blow down and etc.

6. Prepare sizing calculations, cause-and-effect charts, Heat and Mass balance calculations and
shutdown logic for completion of P&ID’s, PFD’s and PDS sheets, provide input to the various
downstream engineering disciplines for document preparation to vendors for Bid
invitations.

7. Review documents from downstream engineering disciplines. Ensure equipment


compatibility and conformance with client specifications. Recommend cost effective
improvements in design layouts and/or equipment specifications within the scope of
client specifications and requirements.

8. Organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline
Checks (IDC’s), coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data
inputs.
9. Prepare Start up and Operations Manuals. Prepare Operational Test Procedures (OTP’s)
when required.

10. Participate in HAZOP meeting with the client and representatives of the other engineering
disciplines.

11. Review vendor documents and meet with vendor representatives when required.

12. Interface and provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites
and commissioning engineers provide startup assistance as required.

13. Perform related duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor.

Static Equipment Design Engineer:

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in the review of the ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals
stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare
material and man-hour estimates and establish engineering deliverables.

2. Participate in contract review, prepare the Technical Document Register (TDR), identify
requirements and scope of work; review specifications, Data Sheets (PDS), control room
& other room layouts Duct, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s D&ID’s)), Plot plans,
General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Area Classification Drawings, Fire and Gas Detector
Layout Drawings and other relevant documents.

3. Participates to identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal
through the instigation of technical queries to projects/client.

4. Provide inputs for the preparation of plot plans, organize the issuance of engineering
drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) coordinate with
other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.

5. Prepare technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors; participate in the


technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Direct and provide guidance in the Technical Bid
Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents. Carry out and/or review design
calculations, ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment
specifications and are within budgeted costs.

6. Prepare Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Review
vendor quality plans, ensure vendor equipment’s compatibility and compliance with the
scope of client specifications. Coordinate with procurement, ascertain expedite of
materials and equipment to site.
7. Monitor manufacturers progress reports, investigate and oversee testing and fabrications
procedures.

8. Inspect Vendor workshops; attend testing of critical equipment items. Coordinate with third
party inspectors of non-critical equipment testing. Approve equipment final product
dispatch to site.

9. Meet with vendor representatives; inspect vendor works and workshops when required.

10. Interface and provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites
and commissioning engineers. Provide start-up assistance as required.

11. Coordinate with Quality Assurance on quality compliance issues.

12. Perform departmental duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor.

13. Prepare Mechanical Data Sheets covering equipment specifications, material of


construction, PWHT requirements, radiography requirements, nozzle details, code of
construction, fireproofing, insulation, wind loads, seismic loads and equipment interface,
etc., Carry out preliminary designs using PV ELITE or other applicable software.

14. Prepare Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Check
supplier design calculations using PV ELITE or other applicable software. Review supplier
quality plans, ensure supplier equipment’s compatibility and compliance with the scope of
client specifications. Obtain approval for commencement of equipment manufacture from
LDE.

Piping Design Engineer:

Primary Duties:

1. Review contract documents and identify requirements and scope of work for project execution.
Review specifications, drawings and other documents as per project work share agreement with
VEC. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from
original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to Projects/Client.

2. Main focus is to work in collaboration with VEC to maintain a stronghold of the project goals
(Ensuring integrity & safety of the design, meeting quality as per contractual intent, meeting
schedule, optimizing procurement & construction cost and maintaining high productivity) when
executed by VEC as per optimum work share environment.

3. Implementation of applicable Lesson Learnt throughout the project cycle.


4. Successful implementation of agreed Value Engineering points.

5. To drive right behavior in VEC team to ensure all round performance and delivery.

6. Work collectively with VEC to promote fit for purpose design philosophy.

7. Greater flexibility in mobility.

8. Work clearly as per the interface between Head Office & VEC adhering to SLA.

9. Control, coordinate change using change control procedure.

10. Escalate serious risk to senior management & always have a fall back plan that allows time to
react.

11. Operate & facilitate VEC team to promote “First Time Right” policy.

12. To focus on piping bulk delivery and piping prefabrication activity.

13. To focus along with VEC on design development to meet or beat the proposal estimation.

14. Focus on engineering support for Piping deliverables, requirements of Painting, Coating &
Fireproofing.

15. Identify & expedite vendor documents that will impact project schedule.

16. Review Model at own desk regularly & ensure proper Model Review preparation w.r.t. Model
Review preparation control sheet & checklist prepared by VEC.

17. Facilitate prompt response to Site query.

18. To focus on piping bulk delivery and piping prefabrication activity.

19. Ensure proper data input to Suppliers in right time.

20. Identify critical engineering parameters and establish deliverables e.g. specifications, datasheets,
layout drawings, stress analysis, isometrics, bill of materials and other applicable deliverables.

21. Participate in the planning of man-hours, resources and organize the preparation of the
Technical Document Register (TDR).

22. Prepare conceptual/study layouts and designs and provide necessary inputs for modelling and
drafting.

23. Obtain the required inputs from other engineering disciplines e.g. mechanical data sheets,
foundation and structure details, instrument specifications and other necessary data.
24. Perform calculations for pipe wall thickness, reinforcement pads and others as per the relevant
piping codes and standards.

25. Stress analyze piping systems through the use of Caesar II software and prepare stress analysis
reports, incorporating contract specifications and international codes, update isometric sheets
as required. Identify stress factors and layout feasibility, resolve design irregularities. Provide
piping loads to Civil Discipline, coordinate on technical issues as required.

26. Perform and coordinate Material Take-off (MTO) activities and provide necessary details for
further procurement activities.

27. Participate in the set-up of the Material Management system (VPRM) incorporating the project
specifications. Coordinate and incorporate the MTO from the 3D model. Update and maintain
the system to incorporate the latest material requirements.

28. Prepare and issue engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-disciplinary Design
Checks (IDC’s). Review and integrate comments and inputs of other engineering discipline
into the relevant documents.

29. Prepare and issue Inquiry Requisitions to vendors. Perform Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
Review vendor drawings, documents and design calculations. Ensure vendor equipment
specifications meet with client equipment specifications and within budgeted costs.

30. Prepare and issue Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials.
Coordinate with Procurement and provide necessary assistance to Expediting and Quality
Departments.

31. Participate in the preparation of all necessary documents up to the final IFC (Issued for
Construction) stage, e.g. plot plans, piping plans, isometrics, locations plans, pipe support
standards, material specifications and other relevant drawings and specifications.

32. Participate in the set-up of the 3D CAD system (PDS/PDMS) incorporating the project
specifications. Customize the system to deliver the model, drawings and data as per the project
requirements. Attend to the day to day modelling problems of designers.

33. Meet with vendor representatives, inspect vendor works and workshops and provide assistance
to Quality Department as required.

34. Interface and provide clarifications, guidance and technical support to Construction and
Commissioning teams as required.

35. Participate in the preparation of the final “As Built” 3D model, layouts and other documents.

36. Perform related duties as and when directed by the direct supervisor.
Rotary Equipment Design Engineer:

Primary Duties:

1. Participate in the review of the ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals
stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare
material and man-hour estimates and establish engineering deliverables.

2. Participate in contract review, prepare the Technical Document Register (TDR), identify
requirements and scope of work; review specifications, Data Sheets (PDS), control room
& other room layouts Duct, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s D&ID’s)), Plot plans,
General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Area Classification Drawings, Fire and Gas Detector
Layout Drawings and other relevant documents.

other equipment assessments. Define metallurgy specifications in accordance to process
requirements.

Engineer I – Instrument:

Primary Duties:

1. Review ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry
requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers.

2. Prepare equipment, material and man-hour estimates.

3. Review contract requirements for project execution, organize the preparation of the
Technical Document Register (TDR), identify requirements and scope of work; review
specifications Process Data Sheets (PDS), Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Piping &
Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Review
Philosophies, Area Classification Drawings, Fire and Gas Detector Layout Drawings and other
relevant documents. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies
and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to
projects/client.

4. Prepare equipment and material specifications and data sheets, develop detailed
engineering calculations and drawings including the preparation of the design basis
document, Instrument Index, Input & Output Lists, Bill of Quantities, Block Diagrams,
Equipment system specifications, cable routing, control room layouts, Cause and Effect
Diagrams, Complex Control loop narratives and Safety narratives Loop Diagrams, Functional
Logic Diagrams, Terminations Diagrams, Installation Hook-up Drawings, Instrument Plot
Plans, Control Panel Drawings, Control/Equipment Room Lay-outs, Cable Tray/Trench Lay-
outs, Cable Schedules and Cable Drum Schedules, JB schedules, Interconnection Schedules,
Fire/Smoke Detection Lay-out and Alarm Lists, Installation detail drawings and other design
and layout calculations and drawings.

5. Participate in the preparation of plot plans, organize the issuance of engineering drawings
and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s), coordinate with other
engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.
6. Prepare technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors, participate in the
technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Direct and provide guidance in the Technical Bid
Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents. Supervise the review of design
calculations, ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment
specifications and are within budgeted costs.

7. Prepare Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Ensure
materials are obtained within scheduled timeframes and budgeted costs.

8. Meet with vendor representatives, inspect vendor works and workshops when required,
provide dispatch clearance and test certificates. Participate in Material Take Off (MTO)
activities, identify irregularities and shortfalls, take corrective action when required.

9. Participate in HAZOP meeting and undertake SIL studies with client and representatives of
other engineering disciplines.

10. Interface and provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites
and commissioning engineers provide startup assistance as required.

11. Perform related duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor.

Engineer I – Electrical:

Primary Duties:

1. Participate in the review of the ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals
stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare
equipment, material and man-hour estimates.

2. Participate in the review of contract requirements for project execution, organize the
preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR), identify requirements and scope of
work; review specifications and Data Sheets, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s),
Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Review Philosophies, Area Classification
Drawings and other relevant documents. Establish contract review criteria, identify and
resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal.  Prepare the design basis,
single line-diagrams, equipment and cable sizing calculations and other material and
equipment analysis for client approval. Carry out short circuit load flow, voltage dips and
transient stability studies using ETAP software. Perform design calculations for earthing,
lightning protection, lighting, relay settings etc.

3. Organize and guide designers in the preparation of equipment and material specifications
and data sheets, administer the development of detailed engineering calculations and
drawings including the preparation of Load list/schedule Single Line Diagrams, Schematic
Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Cable Schedules and Cable Drum Schedules, Interconnection
Schedules, Hazardous Area Classification, Equipment Lay-outs, Cable Routing and Lay-out
Drawings, Cable Trench/Tray Lay-out Drawings, Lighting System Lay-out and Details,
Earthing/Lighting System Lay-out and Details, Heat Tracing Lay-out and Details, Installation
Standard Drawings, Relay Coordination Drawings and other required documents.

equipment, material and man-hour estimates. Establish engineering deliverables for earth
works, concrete works, steel works, road works and other related civil works.

2. Prepare the Technical Document Register (TDR), identify requirements and scope of work;
review specifications, Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Review Philosophies,
Area Classification Drawings, Fire and Gas Detector Layout Drawings and other relevant
documents. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and
divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to
projects/client.

3. Evaluate work requirement, prepare Inquiry Requisitions to subcontractors for Soil and
Topographic investigation analysis reports, identify factors such as soil strength,
underground water tables and other civil works which may influence design of structure
foundations.

4. Follow-up subcontractor survey works, review and validate test results, identify deviations
from original work scope requirements. Incorporate subcontractor investigative reports and
Client Project Design Data to frame the Civil Design Basis.

5. Perform sizing calculations, concrete design analysis, building design analysis, design of
equipment foundation analysis, design analysis of steel structures, dynamic analysis, finite
element and numerical analysis, roads and drainage, HVAC requirements, electrical system
requirements, fire and detection systems, instrument systems, telecom systems, quantity
estimations, and other technical requirements and specifications.

6. Organize the preparation of topographic layouts, earthworks/excavation drawings,


boreholes locations, fencing, paved roads and drainage, underground piping and
foundations, architectural and conceptual building drawings, control room layouts,
substation layouts, machinery shelters, service platforms, pipe racks, pump foundations,
vessel and vessel platform foundations, columns and other civil/structural drawings.

7. Provide inputs for the preparation of plot plans, organize the issuance of engineering
drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) coordinate with other
engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.
