Job Title : Family Based Care Advisor

Main Purpose of the Job


Leads the evaluation and monitoring of the quality of implementation of child and youth care
standards in all projects based on relevant child care standards, SOS Children’s Villages
Programme Policy and other policies and guidelines to ensure that programme development in
the field of family based care is in line with the international quality standards, and guidelines
and approved strategies, policies and plans of the organisation and national legislation.

Principal Job Accountabilities (Key Outputs of the Job)

Output 1: Implemented Programme


Definition: Leads the implementation of programme activities with partners according to the
objectives, actions and time frames outlined in the annual plan and joint action
plan to ensure that programme operates in accordance with the organisation’s
policies and procedures

Output 2: Developed Program Quality Standards


Definition: Develops family based and other possible child care concepts and proposals for
all related programmes and projects in the country to ensure that quality standards
for their implementation on national association level is adhered to.

Output 3: Enforced Quality Compliance


Definition: Supports the implementation of child and youth care quality standards within all
programmes of SOS Children’s Villages organisation in the country to ensure that
set quality standards are adhered to.

Output 4: Programme Planning Support


Definition: Provides content wise guidance to programme unit managers in the locations in
planning, budgeting, and reporting of programme interventions to ensure that
programme planning is in accordance with the approved organisation’s policies
and guidelines.
Output 5: Monitored and Evaluated Child Care Activities
Definition: Conducts monitoring, evaluation and audit most specifically in the field of quality
of child and youth care to ensure that information is generated and analyzed for
intervention decision making purposes.

Output 6: Technical Advice


Definition: Advises functional co-workers on matters relating to training of key family based
care personnel in the country to ensure that information on relevant child and
youth care quality areas is providing to staff.

Output 7: Research Studies Input


Definition: Participates in studies and research projects related to quality of child and youth
care within SOS Children’s Villages and/or in cooperation with governmental and
non-governmental organisations to ensure that program implementation
improvement in informed by evidence-based information.

Output 8: Supported Stakeholder Relationships


Definition: Supports programme units’ managers in the location in building strong links and
cooperation with national government and local authorities, as well as other
stakeholders to ensure that programme development is enhanced

JOB FACTORS

Education
Grade 12 with 5 ‘O’ levels with a Bachelor Degree in Educational Policy, Psychology, Social
Work, Social Sciences.
Experience
At least three (3) years’ experience of implementing social programme/s. Experience in the field
of social work, Understanding of Child and Family Development issues, including knowledge of
Child Rights, and Child Protection.

Performs an advising role by evaluating and monitoring quality of implementation of child and
youth care standards in all projects based on relevant child care standards, SOS Children’s
Villages Programme Policy and other policies and guidelines

Supports the National Director in implementing and monitoring standards that relate to quality of
child and youth care of SOS Children’s Village programmes in the country
