1. Abstruse – Difficult to comprehend (Recondite – not understood or known by


many people)
2. Adroit – very clever or skillful
3. Allegory – a story in which the characters and events are symbols that stand for

4. Allusion – a statement that refers to something without mentioning it directly: the
act of making an indirect reference to something
5. Amalgamate – to unite (two or more things, such as two businesses) into one thing
6. Ambivalent – having or showing simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or
feelings toward something or someone
7. Assiduous – showing great care, attention and effort: (unremitting – incessant)
8. Beguile – to trick or deceive someone
9. Benign – without cancer: not causing harm or damage
10. Bespoke – made to fit a particular person
11. Billet – quarters assigned by: an official order directing that a member of a military
force be provided with board and lodging
