Better access for fishers

We know recreational fishers want clear access to rivers and lakes, more places
to fish and simpler rules when they get there. That’s why the State Government
is investing $35 million into its Target One Million plan to:

Open new waters to small craft

• Expand on-water access to reservoirs so
canoes/kayaks can be enjoyed, including:
- Barkers Creek (now open to canoes/kayaks)
- Tullaroop (now open to canoes/kayaks and
small boats with electric motors)
• From 1 August 2019, canoes/kayaks will be
able to access Upper Coliban, Hepburn,
Malmsbury and Lauriston reservoirs. When
boat ramps are built, small boats with electric
motors will be permitted too.

Open up river frontages

River frontage land under crown grazing licences
belongs to all Victorians, which is why we will
mandate camping access to hundreds of sites
right across the state.
We want more fishers and their families fishing
and camping in the great outdoors!

Target One Million will also increase stocking to a record 10 million by 2022, buy out commercial net
fishing in the Gippsland Lakes and build a new native fish hatchery near Shepparton.

Moorabool Shire Active Ageing

Three 2 hour sessions providing information on a wide range of transport

options and support services to promote older people remaining mobile,
travelling confidently and safely and staying connected to the community.
In support of Victoria’s Road Safety Strategy 2013-2022, Wiser Walker aims to encourage safe road
sharing, in particular the safe mobility of all older people. The information focuses on assisting people
to make safe travel choices as drivers, pedestrians and users of alternative travel options.

Accessing everyday activities and being part of the wider community is a key part of our well-being
and social connectedness. If the car is not an option, quality of life can be considerably reduced- we
need to be confident accessing a wide variety of viable transport alternatives.

It is important that older drivers build up a bank of knowledge about travel alternatives long before
there is a need to cease driving, to maintain mobility, and minimise the stress and other negative
factors associated with important life changes.

GREASE – It’s Time to Relive

Everyone’s Favourite Musical
Performing Arts Headquarters (PAHQ) is presenting everyone’s favourite musical,
Grease, at the Impresario Theatre in August and September. Bacchus Marsh’s very
own Community Theatre Company is responsible for staging musical productions
locally for the past 22 years and is following the enormous acclaim of their 2018
production of We Will Rock You, with Grease. The production will once again feature
spectacular sound and lighting, a cast of over 50 singers, actors and dancers,
dazzling costumes and all the fun, attitude, angst and toe-tappin’ rock ‘n’ roll music
that is synonymous with this 1950s inspired musical.
Regardless of when you last saw the movie, it’s always a good time to relive the
story of Danny and Sandy, the teenage lovebirds, as they struggle to reignite their
summer holiday passion while dealing with the trials and tribulations of school, friends
and teenage life in the 1950s. Who can forget the conflicting stories of their summer
romance (‘Summer Nights’), Sandy’s tragic introduction to being a Pink Lady at the
sleepover (‘Freddy, My Love’ and ‘Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee’), the thrill of a drag
car’s unrealised potential (‘Greased Lightning’) and the excitement of Senior Prom
with Rydell High’s nationally-televised ‘Dance-Off’ (‘Born to Hand-Jive’)?
PAHQ’s production will feature all the classic songs from the Grease musical as
