Rom 3:20-21: 20 For no one can ever be made
right with God by doing what the law
commands. The law simply shows us how
sinful we are. 21 But now God has shown us a
way to be made right with him without
keeping the requirements of the law, as was
promised in the writings of Moses and the
prophets long ago.

Acts 24:14-15: 14 “But one thing I do
confess, that I believe in the way of
salvation, which they refer to as a sect; I
follow that system of serving the God of our
ancestors; I firmly believe in the law and
everything written in the books of prophecy;

righteous and ungodly.
Rom 7:22: I delight in God’s Law.
Rom 7:25: Thank God! The answer is in
Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is:
In my mind I really want to obey God’s law,
but because of my sinful nature I am a slave
to sin.
Acts 21:21-24: 21 They have been told about
you—that you teach all the Jewish people
among the Gentiles to forsake Moses,
telling them not to circumcise their children
or to walk according to the customs.

will hear that you have come.

to fear him so he can continue to bless us

day. 25For we will be counted as righteous
when we obey all the commands the lord our
God has given us.’

are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of
the lord are trustworthy, making wise the

Luke 1:5-6: 5When Herod was king of
Judea, there was a Jewish priest named
Zechariah. He was a member of the
priestly order of Abijah, and his wife,
Elizabeth, was also from the priestly line
of Aaron. 6Zechariah and Elizabeth were
righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey
all of the Lord’s commandments and
regulations.
Luke 2:25-26: 25At that time there was a
man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was
righteous and devout and was eagerly
waiting for the Messiah to come and
rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon
him 26and had revealed to him that he
would not die until he had seen the Lord’s
Messiah.
Matt 19:17-21: 17 “Why ask me about
what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is
only One who is good. But to answer your
question—if you want to receive eternal
life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which
ones?” the man asked. And Jesus replied:
“‘You must not murder. You must not
commit adultery. You must not steal. You
must not testify falsely. 19 Honor your
father and mother. Love your neighbor as
yourself.’” 20 “I’ve obeyed all these
commandments,” the young man replied.
“What else must I do?” 21 Jesus told him,
“If you want to be perfect, go and sell all
your possessions and give the money to
the poor, and you will have treasure in
heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Rom 3:27-28: 27 Can we boast, then, that we
have done anything to be accepted by God?
No, because our acquittal is not based on
obeying the law. It is based on faith. 28 So we
are made right with God through faith and
not by obeying the law.

Rom 2:17-20: 17You who call yourselves
Jews are relying on God’s law, and you
boast about your special relationship with
him. 18You know what he wants; you know
what is right because you have been taught
his law. 19You are convinced that you are a
guide for the blind and a light for people
who are lost in darkness. 20You think you
can instruct the ignorant and teach children
the ways of God. For you are certain that
God’s law gives you complete knowledge
and truth.
Rom 3:31: Do we then make void the law
through faith? God forbid! On the
contrary, we establish the law.
Rom 10:4-10: 4For the goal at which the
Torah aims is the Messiah, who offers
righteousness to everyone who trusts. 5For
Moshe writes about righteousness grounded
in the Torah that the person who does these
things will attain life through them.

trusting says: “Do not say in your heart,
‘Who will ascend to heaven?’” —that is, to
bring the Messiah down — 7or, “‘Who will

mercy; let me be revived by following your
regulations.
Neh 8:17-18: 17And all of the assembly of
those who returned from captivity made
booths and lived in the booths because the
Israelites had not done it from the days of

was very great joy. 18 And he read from the
scroll of the law of God day by day from the
first day up to the last day. They celebrated
the festival for seven days, and on the eighth
day there was an assembly according to the
rule.
Job 23:12: I have not departed from the
commands of His lips. I have treasured the

keep His commandments. 4 The one who

that we are in Him by this— 6 whoever
claims to abide in Him must walk just as
He walked.
Rev 14:12: Here is a call for the
endurance of the saints, those who keep
the commandments of God and hold fast
to the faith of Jesus.
Matt 5:17-20: 17“Don’t misunderstand
why I have come. I did not come to
abolish the law of Moses or the writings
of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish
their purpose. 18I tell you the truth, until
heaven and earth disappear, not even the
smallest detail of God’s law will
disappear until its purpose is achieved.

and teach others to do the same, you will
be called the least in the Kingdom of
Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s
laws and teaches them will be called great

the dead, you will be delivered. 10For with
the heart one goes on trusting and thus
continues toward righteousness, while with
the mouth one keeps on making public
acknowledgement and thus continues

Phil 2:12-13: 12 Dear friends, you always
followed my instructions when I was with
you. And now that I am away, it is even
more important. Work hard to show the
results of your salvation, obeying God with
deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is
working in you, giving you the desire and
power to do what pleases Him.

much against him. But they could not prove

are not righteous before God, but the doers
of the law will be declared righteous. 14 For
when the Gentiles, which have not the law,

conduct the law dictates is written in their
hearts.
Rom 2:26-29: 26And if the Gentiles obey
God’s law, won’t God declare them to be
his own people? 27In fact, uncircumcised
Gentiles who keep God’s law will condemn
you Jews who are circumcised and possess
God’s law but don’t obey it. 28For you are
not a true Jew just because you were born of
Jewish parents or because you have gone
through the ceremony of circumcision.

No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right
with God. And true circumcision is not
merely obeying the letter of the law; rather,
it is a change of heart produced by the
Spirit. And a person with a changed heart
seeks praise from God, not from people.

when you were slaves of sin, you were free
in relationship to righteousness; 21 but what
benefit did you derive from the things of
which you are now ashamed? The end result
of those things was death. 22 However, now,
freed from sin and enslaved to God, you do
get the benefit — it consists in being made
holy, set apart for God, and its end result is
eternal life.

2 Kings 23:25: Never before had there been
a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord
with all his heart and soul and strength,
obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has

Psalm 119:97-99: 97 O, how I love Your
Law! It is what I think about all through the
day. 98 Your Word makes me wiser than
those who hate me, for it is always with me.

Exodus 34:6: “And he passed in front of

in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of
the Lord, for his mercy is very great; but do
not let me fall into human hands.”
Psalm 25:6: “Remember, Lord, your great
mercy and love, for they are from of old.
Psalm 84:7: “For the LORD God is a sun
and shield: the LORD will give grace and
glory: no good thing will he withhold from
them that walk uprightly.”
Psalm 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine
heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:44-45: 44I will keep on obeying

prophets were your guides. But now the
Good News of the Kingdom of God is
preached, and everyone is eager to get in.

But that doesn’t mean that the law has
lost its force. It is easier for heaven and
earth to disappear than for the smallest
point of God’s law to be overturned.
Matt 23:1-3: Then Jesus spoke to the
crowds and to His disciples: 2 “The
scribes and the Pharisees are seated in the
chair of Moses. 3 Therefore do whatever
they tell you, and observe it. But don’t do
what they do, because they don’t practice
what they teach.
Luke 5:31-32: 31And Jesus answered and
said to them, "It is not those who are well
who need a physician, but those who are
sick. 32"I have not come to call the
righteous but sinners to repentance."
1 John 3:4-7: 4Everyone who makes a
practice of sinning also practices
lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5You
know that he appeared in order to take
away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6No
one who abides in him keeps on sinning;
no one who keeps on sinning has either
seen him or known him. 7Little children,
let no one deceive you. Whoever practices
righteousness is righteous, as he is
righteous.
Matt 7:21-23: 21 “Not everyone who says
to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but he who does the

Rom 7:1-6: Surely you know, brothers — for
I am speaking to those who understand Torah
— that the Torah has authority over a person
only so long as he lives? 2 For example, a
married woman is bound by Torah to her
husband while he is alive; but if the husband
dies, she is released from the part of the
Torah that deals with husbands. 3 Therefore,
while the husband is alive, she will be called
an adulteress if she marries another man; but
if the husband dies, she is free from that part
of the Torah; so that if she marries another
man, she is not an adulteress. 4 Thus, my
brothers, you have been made dead with
regard to the Torah through the Messiah’s
body, so that you may belong to someone
else, namely, the one who has been raised
from the dead, in order for us to bear fruit for
God. 5 For when we were living according to
our old nature, the passions connected with
sins worked through the Torah in our various
parts, with the result that we bore fruit for
death. 6 But now we have been released

as slaves to righteousness leading to
sanctification.

1 Tim 3:15-17: and that from childhood
you have known the sacred writings that are
able to make you wise, leading to salvation
through trusting in Messiah Yeshua. 16 All
Scripture is inspired by God and useful for
teaching, for reproof, for restoration, and for
training in righteousness, 17 so that the
person belonging to God may be capable,
fully equipped for every good deed.
Rom 7:9-17, 22: 9At one time I lived
without understanding the law. But when I
learned the command not to covet, for
instance, the power of sin came to life, 10and
I died. So I discovered that the law’s
commands, which were supposed to bring
life, brought spiritual death instead. 11Sin
took advantage of those commands and
deceived me; it used the commands to kill
me. 12But still, the law itself is holy, and its
commands are holy and right and
good.13But how can that be? Did the law,
which is good, cause my death? Of course
not! Sin used what was good to bring about
my condemnation to death. So we can see
how terrible sin really is. It uses God’s good
commands for its own evil purposes.
Struggling with sin 14So the trouble is not
with the law, for it is spiritual and good.
The trouble is with me, for I am all too
human, a slave to sin. 15I don’t really
understand myself, for I want to do what is
right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I

walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself
to your commandments.
Psalm 119:77: Let Your tender mercies
reach me, Let me live, for Your Torah is my
delight.
Psalm 119:152: Long ago I learned from
Your testimonies that You founded them
firmly forever.
Prov 28:9: God detests the prayers of a
person who ignores His law.
Ps 119:105-106: 105 Your word is a lamp to
my feet and a light to my path. 106 I have
promised that I will keep Your Law.

Jer 3:8: I noted that when backsliding Israel
committed adultery I sent her away and gave
her a certificate of divorce. Yet, unfaithful
Judah, her sister, did not fear. Instead she
also went and committed adultery.
Deut 12:32 “Whatever I command you, be
careful to observe it; you shall not add to it
nor take away from it.

Rev 12:17: So the dragon became enraged
at the woman and went off to make war
with the rest of her offspring—those who
keep the commandments of God and hold
to the testimony of Yeshua
1 Peter 1:14-16: 14 Be like children who
obey. Do not desire to sin like you used to
when you did not know any better. 15 Be
holy in every part of your life. Be like the
Holy One Who chose you. 16 The Holy
Writings say, “You must be holy, for I am
holy.”
1 Peter 1:23-25: 23 For you have been born
again, but not to a life that will quickly
end. Your new life will last forever

Rom 5:20-21: 20 God’s law was given so that
all people could see how sinful they were.

wonderful grace became more abundant.

doing it is to escape persecution for

stake. 13 For even those who are getting

statutes I am giving you today, for your own
good. 14The heavens, indeed the highest
heavens, belong to the Lord your God, as

Lord was devoted to your fathers and loved
them. He chose their descendants after them

is today. 16Therefore, circumcise your hearts
and don’t be stiff-necked any longer.

Acts 7:8: Then he gave Abraham the
covenant of circumcision. And Abraham
became the father of Isaac and
circumcised him eight days after his birth.
Later Isaac became the father of Jacob,
and Jacob became the father of the twelve
patriarchs.
Matt 5:19: Therefore whoever abolishes
one of the least of these commandments
and teaches people to do so will be called
least in the kingdom of heaven, but

righteous before God, but the doers of the
law will be declared righteous.
