Creating a New Automation Unit
The OPM is where both process

technique and system technique
are parameterized.
The most important steps are

dialog-guided and quite easy to do.
The “Tools” menu contains the

“System Technique” screen.
There you will find a link to the

creation of a new Automation Unit
(AU).

Now, assign the new

AU to a region.
This may be an
existing region or a
new region created in
the same procedural
step.

To create the new AU, you may choose one of several options:
take an AU having a predefined equipment configuration from a library
use an empty AU
copy an existing AU

In the next step, all you

have to do is assign
a unique component
number
an AU name
and, where necessary,
the AU type.

Defining the HW/FW Configuration of an
Automation Unit
All installable system elements are contained in the libraries

Tools Æ Templates Overview
Using the drag & drop functionality, you may now install various system
elements in the new AU; the BSE needs to be installed first before the
SSE’s will be enabled for installation.
Where peripheral elements are installed, it is necessary to specify the
peripheral module address

Installing a Protocol Element
Within the scope of the

they run on.

be known, or it is defined by
this selection.

Installing a Protocol Element
By defining the protocol element number, the user defines the SIM (0
or 1) and the interface out of the 4 possible ones the protocol element
is electrically connected to.
In this procedure, the following rules must be observed:
As a rule, the SM-2556/ETA2 must be installed at the uneven protocol

element number (1,3).
The SM-0551 may be installed only on an SM-2556 at the even

protocol element number (0,2).
