SIS DVD Files – The integration files are installed
automatically during installation of SIS DVD.
sisjwapi.exe and Java 1.3 are installed automatically – if necessary, follow the
directions below to find out what version of Java is installed. SA requires 1.3
and is not affected by the SIS DVD integration software install.
Java Plug-in
The Java plug-in enables SIS to communicate with the external application (i.e. DBS, DBSi,
Service Advisor). For integration, it is necessary to have a Java plug-in. If you already
have version 1.3 or higher, you do not need to proceed.

Perform the following steps to determine what version of the Java plug-in that is
currently installed:
1. Click on the Start button on the Windows taskbar.
2. Go to the Settings menu option.
3. Go to the Control Panel Option.
4. Click the Add/Remove Programs menu option.
5. Scroll through the list of currently installed programs. If the Java 2 Runtime
Environment or Java plug-in program is listed and the version number is greater than or
equal to version 1.3 you do not need to install the Java plug-in. If a version prior to 1.3
is installed, neither of these programs is listed or you need a different version you will
need to install the Java plug-in.
If you need the Java plug-in, navigate to the following URL to retrieve an appropriate plug-in:
http://jplugin.cat.com
If sisjwapi.exe is needed, go to the SIS Web main menu and select downloads. Then
select the integration software listing and select Additional information.
SIS DVD, SIS Web and Network SIS – Preferences

integration will work. Click on the Preferences link on the bottom left hand
side of the SIS Main Menu to set integration startup options.

Troubleshooting Information
• You cannot open SIS Network with integration and then switch over to SIS
Web directly in the same browser to perform integration. The same is true for
SIS DVD and SIS Network or SIS Web.
• Minimize/Maximize functionality does not work correctly within NACD
Infocast. SIS may not maximize after starting integration in DBS.
• The integration applet will not work with the 1.5.x version of the Java plug-in
• Non-engine/non-machine arrangement numbers passed from DBS to SIS will
cause the no equipment configurations page to be displayed in SIS.
• Do Not Run SIS in the same browser session as Service Advisor when the
default Java plug-in is different than that required by Service Advisor
• Make sure SIS is active before starting the integration from DBS. SIS Web
times out in 30 minutes. DVD and Network time out in four hours. Select any
link in SIS to make sure SIS is active and before starting integrator in DBS.
• It may be necessary to create an exception for port 6000 in the XP firewall.
Access to parts integrator may have been denied previously if the XP firewall
was active the first time integrator was used. Instructions follow.
