“ KAHANDAAN SA SAKUNA AT PELIGRO, PARA SA TUNAY NA PAGBABAGO “

Safety is a responsibility of the entire community. We all know that being

prepared at all times is one of a good way for us to be safe in any disaster that might

happen to us. Nowadays we experienced different kinds of disaster like earthquake,

typhoons, storm surge, landslide, terror attack and others. As a student we should be

aware on how to handle/face the different kind of disaster. And as a living human it is our

right or responsibility to prepare ourselves for any disaster so that we can avoid those

negative things that might happen.

Based with my experience, I always keep myself ready for whatever

circumstances that comes along my way. Being prepared does not only mean on physical

or material things. But likewise with your mental, social, emotional and spiritual aspects

as well. Just in case if we experienced disasters, we should never feel down. We should

always remember that all these things are challenges that we need to cope up. As a

citizen, it is our great responsibility to take care not only with ourselves and the community

but so as with our environment. If we want to avoid those kinds of disaster, then we should

start it in ourself. Nowadays, a lot of people are lack of self-discipline. Some of them are

cutting trees and throwing their garbage anywhere. How could these terrible disasters be

prevented if people are one of the major cause of these problems. Just like what

happened in Manila, floods will definitely occur when there is rainfall. Since there are few

trees and drainage are clogged because of improper waste disposal. Could you still

remember the big impact that happen when we experienced typhoon Yolanda? Especially

in Tacloban City, a lot of lives had vanished. Almost everything was gone especially those

buildings, houses and other properties. How could you still manage to smile when
everything is gone in a glimpse of an eye. These catastrophic event would be prevented

if we know how to value everything that surrounds us. We should be matured enough,

that we do really need to take care of our nature because anything that you do, will turn

back to you. When it comes to an earthquake we don’t know when we can experience it,

because it is an unpredictable it might happen anytime or any minute from now just like

what happen in Bohol. A lot of people didn’t expect that they could experience earthquake

that is why we really need to prepare. As a student we have an proper earthquake drill

during an earthquake, we duck, cover and hold, it is a big help for us to be prepared.

What will you do if we will experience the Typhoon Yolanda again? How are you going to

prepare yourself? Once we are prepared we can take advantage to have an early

warnings and the temporary evacuation of people and property from threatened locations.

If we are not prepared the most terrible consequences are deaths and injuries to us.

We are now celebrating National disaster resilience Month. With the

theme of “ Kahandaan sa sakuna at peligro, para sa tunay na pagbabago.” It reminds a

challenge for us to be prepared and always do care of our surroundings and environment

in order for us to have safety. What will you do if more than one disaster happens at the

same time? Are you ready to face and handle everything? Always remind yourself that

being prepared can be your sword at any disaster you could meet. By our simple action,

we do save our nature and to have safety with the help of our nature or surroundings. Let

us unite as one for our mother earth.
