2018-2019 Initiative Proposal

I. Title: “Promoting Reading in Grade 2-2 Class”

II. Objective:
To be able to read words, phrases, sentences, poems, rhymes,
short paragraph and short stories with comprehension in Grade 2-
2 class.

III. Methodology
The learners in Grade 2-2 class are able to arrange letters to
make words or little words using a few of letters and then progress
to bigger words – for the 1st Quarter.
Repetition reading of words, phrases, lines of words that are
bit above the learners reading level done during second quarter.
In enhancing the learner’s fluency, reading paragraph, four
to five line of rhymes was done in the 3rd quarter in a few minutes
before and after classes. And set aside 15-20 minutes for a day to
join learner’s to read aloud like poems, rhymes, short stories for
fluency and comprehension done for the last quarter.
Opportunities to read everywhere makes great help to
learners.

V. Implication/Lesson Learned
Among the driven data, making reading a part of everyday
lesson even in a few minutes before and after classes. Continuing
to read aloud even they can read alone. And reading lines that are
bit above the learner’s reading level as long as they can understand
and enjoy.
Joining learner’s independent time in putting everything set
aside to focus on reading 15-20 minutes for day to measure the
learner’s progress. And keeping of record of what learners are
reading. Mostly, raise a learner who loves to read for promoting
reading as passion not an assignment.
It implied that reading is important part of learners overall
health and well-being. Learner’s who don’t know how to read well
may have emotional and behavioral problem later in life.
