POST INSTALLATION QUALITY CONTROL CHECK LIST

I. Global Visual checks

A. Screen is level.
B. Wall plates are installed and level.
C. Plate colors & button colors match.
D. Equipment is organized and neat.
E. No unsightly wires are visible, especially from the bottom of the screen
F. Proper equipment position is available to easily load media
G. Keypads are level and properly labeled.
H. Remote panels are labeled with the room name and buttons properly labeled.
I. All mouse emitters are fastened securely to equipment with covers, glue or both.
J. All original factory remotes and instruction books are on site.
K. Speakers are placed correctly and are level.
L. Make sure the remote display times out with in a reasonable time of two to three
minutes.
M. Printed buttons are installed.
N. All rack shelves and plates match the equipment.
O. The rack is properly installed and looks neat.
P. Check if remote graphics look good with uniform spacing, type face, and colors.
II. Cable Television

A. Proper aspect ratio & output of 480i and 1080i


B. CNN & CNBC tickers are visible.
C. Aspect ratio button is available for cable.
D. Colors look correct for both HD and Non-HD.
E. Check for video distortion anomalies
F. Check cable signal strength between -3 & + 9 for TWC channel 996.
G. Go through a sample of local channels, digital channels, HD channels, and video
on demand and make sure they work.
H. Make sure all channel #’s work for direct entry.
I. Check channel up and down
J. Check volume up and down
K. Check mute
L. Check cable function buttons as follows: info, guide, previous channel, up, down,
left, right, select, a,b,c, list live, rec, day+,day- , page up, page down, cable box
power toggle button(only if there is no cable minder), VOD transport functions
such as play, stop, rew, ff, pause, and PIP, on/off, swap, pip channel +, pip channel

M. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words which is a priority and
symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
N. Make sure there are volume banks.
O. Make room volume turn on level is correct.
P. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the sub
woofer.
Q. Make sure all speakers are working.
R. Make sure a Dolby surround sound field is selected unless another is specified.
S. Make sure it is easy to navigate all cable pages.
T. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
U. Make sure the Dolby digital light goes on for digital channels on the receiver or
preamp when surround sound is selected.
V. Check all clients requested presets if available.
III. DVD

A. Check to see if the menu setting on the player is set to 16:9 progressive scan.
B. Make sure you bring a test disk that you are familiar with.
C. Make sure the proper audio outs are active depending on the system design.
D. Make sure the aspect ratio is correct for the screen when it switches to DVD.
E. Make sure the colors look correct on the TV screen.
F. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words, which are a priority and
symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
G. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
H. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the sub
woofer.
I. Make sure all speakers are working.
J. Make sure a Dolby surround sound field is selected unless another is specified.
K. Make sure it is easy to navigate to all DVD pages.
L. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
M. Make sure the Dolby digital light goes on for digital channels on the receiver or
preamp when surround sound is selected.
N. Watch a familiar movie in surround sound and make sure it sounds good.
O. Make sure the DVD controls are easily accessible.
P. Check all DVD function buttons such as, Play, Pause, stop, Prev, Next, FF, Rew,
Menu, Up, Down, Left, Right.
Q. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works the Prev and next function
for the DVD player.
R. Check volume up and down
S. Check mute
IV. FM

A. Check that the FM signal strength level is acceptable and a wide range of local
stations tune in well. 50 + is good.
B. Make sure to set up presets as per the clients instructions and if there are none put
in the usual ones such as 88.3,89.9, 92.3, 95.5, 101.9, 101.1, 102.7 106.7 ect.

E. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the sub

and scan down.
I. Check volume up and down
J. Check mute
K. Make sure the surround field is stereo unless specified.
L. Make sure the buttons, scan up, scan down, presets, save, tune up, tune down, all
function.
M. Make sure there is correct feedback for both tuned stations and saved presets.

V. XM & Sirius

A. Check that the XM signal strength level is acceptable and all stations tune in well.
80 db is a good signal.
B. Make sure to set up presets as per the clients instructions and if there are none put
in the usual ones such as 25, 26, 45, 71, 83, 110, ect.
C. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words, which are a priority and
symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
D. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
E. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the sub
woofer.
F. Make sure all speakers are working.
G. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
H. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works for the XM station up and
down.
I. Check volume up and down
J. Check mute
K. Make sure the surround field is stereo unless specified.
L. Make sure the buttons, presets, save, tune up, tune down, cat +, cat - , cat. Mode,
numbers, clear, and enters, all function.
M. Make sure there is correct feedback for both tuned stations, saved presets,
Channel #, channel name, channel category, song, artist, selected station, ect.

VI. Request

A. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words, which are a
priority and symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
B. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
C. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the
sub woofer.
D. Make sure all speakers are working.
E. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
F. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works for the previous
and next
G. Check volume up and down
H. Check mute
I. Make sure the surround field is stereo unless specified.
J. Make sure the buttons, all functions, especially transport work.
K. Make sure there is correct feedback for the Request such as Artist, albums,
songs, Genre, ect.
L. Make sure the internet connection is working.
M. Check sound quality and control by finding songs that you are familiar
with by using the browser.
N. See if the client’s computer is set up correctly to work the Request via the
Java remote. Also make sure there are desktop icons for uploading, down
loading songs and access to the Request’s web browser page for play lists
and data management.

VII. CD

A. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words, which are a
priority and symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
B. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
C. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the
sub woofer.
D. Make sure all speakers are working.
E. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
F. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works for the previous
and next
G. Check volume up and down
H. Check mute
I. Make sure the surround field is stereo unless specified.
J. Make sure all buttons function especially transport features.
K. Make sure there is correct feedback for the CD such as track # and disk #.
L. Check sound quality by testing the unit with a CD you brought with you.

VIII. Kaleidescape.
A. Make sure the aspect ratio is correct for the screen.
B. Make sure the colors look correct on the TV screen.

D. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
E. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the sub

A. Make sure the aspect ratio is correct for the screen.

D. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
E. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the
sub woofer.

G. Make sure a Dolby surround sound field is selected unless another is
specified.

H. Make sure it is easy to navigate to all Menu pages and to the system on &
off pages.
I. Make sure the Dolby pro logic light goes on for the analog channels on the
receiver or preamp when surround sound is selected for a Dolby tape.
J. Watch a familiar movie in surround sound and make sure it sounds good.
K. Make sure the controls are easily accessible.
L. Check all Transport function buttons such as, Play, Pause, stop, Prev,
Next, FF, Rew, Menu, Up, Down, Left, Right, ect.
M. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works the REW and FF
function for the player.
N. Check volume up and down
O. Check mute
P. Make sure the time is correct and the DST is selected
Q. Make sure the correct input is errantly selected using the cable control
menu feature.

X. LIGHTING

A. Check all lighting functions


B. Is the button layout easy to follow?
C. Can you navigate to the system on & off pages and also back to lights with
ease?
D. Does the physical wall switch or switches work?
XI. IPOD

A. Make sure soft buttons functions are spelled out in words, which are a
priority and symbols, which are not a priority, but it is okay to have both.
B. Make sure room volume turn on level is correct.
C. Make sure there is no system hum or distortion in the sound, especially the
sub woofer.
D. Make sure all speakers are working.
E. Make sure it is easy to navigate to the system on & off pages.
F. Check that the remote Channel – and Channel + works for the previous
and next
G. Check volume up and down
H. Check mute
I. Make sure the surround field is stereo unless specified.
J. Make sure the buttons, all function.
