SUMMARY
In the present study we observed the persistence of passive immunity in pigs from
seropositive dams to Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae until the end of the rebreeding period
on a farm tech Ica. We used for this study 30 piglets which were sampled at the 17, 42 and
73 days, which corresponds to the period of weaning, middle and end of rebreeding period
respectively. Serum samples were analyzed by means of an indirect ELISA test that detects
antibodies to the toxin ApxIV, present in all serotype A. pleuropneumoniae, as this specific
kind. At the end of the stage of lactation, these animals showed desuniformity in antibody
levels down these levels under the age progressed. At the end of the rebreeding stage, the
mean of level of antibody concentration, expressed as the ratio of optical density, resulting
in 0.38, which indicates that these animals arrive at the end of this stage with minimum
levels of antibodies, can be susceptible to re income from the stage of fattening, added this
to environmental factors and stress common during this stage.
