I. Objectives
General Objective:
 Observe correct subject-verb agreement (ENG7G-I-g-11).
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. Determine whether the verb agrees with the subject in the sentence
2. Select approriate verb that agrees with its subject in the sentence
3. Show teamwork and cooperation through participating in a group activity

III. Learning Activities

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
2. Arranging chairs, picking up of dirt (if applicable)
3. Checking of Attendance
- The class beadle will be asked to report the class attendance.
4. Review (Identification Method)
- Sentences will be flashed on screen.
- Select student to identify the subject and verb in the sentence.
The PowerPoint presentation uses hyperlinking that makes it interactive.
Review Activity:
1. Students look excited for the party.
2. Mathematics is an interesting subject.
3. Where do war victims go?
4. She has important role in the play.
5. People are joining the fun run activity.
5. Motivation – Picture Analysis
- Pictures will be flashed on screen that depict well known Philippine Proverbs.
Processing Questions:
a. What popular Philippine proverb is associated with the picture?
b. What is the significance of proverbs to our daily life?
6. Presentation of the Objectives
- Objectives will be flashed on screen.
- A student will be asked to read each of the objectives.
7. A Short reminder of class rules on: a) caution in working for group
activities; and b) cooperation and participation.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity (Examining Paragraph)
- A paragraph will be flashed on screen.
- A student will be asked to read the paragraph.
- Students will work in group of five (5) to discuss if the sentences were written
correctly.
- Each group will choose a leader, a secretary, and a reporter.
- Each group will study and analyze the assigned sentence in the paragraph if it
was written correctly with particular focus on its subject and verb.
- Each group will work on assigned sentence as follows:
 Group 1 - Sentence # 1
 Group 2 - Sentence # 2
 Group 3 - Sentence # 3
 Group 4 - Sentence # 4
 Group 5 - Sentence # 5
- Each group will be given 15 minutes to work on the activity and prepare for
group presentation.
- An area will be assigned for each group; chairs will be arranged in a small
circle.
- For maximum participation, there will be a leader, secretary/recorder,
discussant, material managers, and a reporter.

Activity Guide:

 Each group should look for the subject and verb of the assigned sentence.
 Question 1: Is the subject, singular or plural?
 Question 2: What about the verb, is it singular or plural?
 Question 3: Does the verb agree with its subject in the sentence?
 Question 4: Is the sentence written correctly? If not, present or show the
corrected sentence.

2. Analysis (Group Reporting)

- Each group will report the findings of their activity.


Guide Questions:

 How do you know that the sentence is incorrect?


 What will you do if found out that the verb does not agree with the
subject?

3. Abstraction

 The teacher will deliver a lecturette using PowerPoint

 Each group will create and show a creative presentation through a
tongue twister, song, advertisement, or hosting observing subject-verb
agreement.

V. Assignment (Journal Writing)

Write a short journal on important learnings of the day’s lesson. Don’t forget to
observe correct subject-verb agreement.
