A native of Greenville, Ric Standridge has left his mark in this

community as the Founder of South Carolina Children’s Theatre and
as a Recruiting Director for the SC Governor’s School for the Arts.

His paintings have been exhibited in countless galleries throughout

the Southeast and his works are highly sought after by both private
and corporate collectors.

Standridge continues to explore new avenues of expression. Ric

states, “That each painting is a synthesis of the varied cultural
influences that have shaped my own consciousness. These
influences are entered into my paintings; the order and the complexity
that results is intended to convey a simple message: reverence for life
and the human form and spirit”.

Times are a-changin’ but Main Street’s still a great place to work. Follow

Guy Kohn knows about change. When the year began,
his company was called Harrison-Kohn and they
focused on developing brands. He’ll close out the year
as SHiFT: The Creative Solutions Agency, focusing on
helping the firm’s clients with more immediate needs.
Why the shift? In a word: The Economy. The economy
is driving companies to shift their attention to action in
the moment. SHiFT restructured and repositioned to
help create compelling content for blogs and social
sites in addition to building quality brands
over time.
What hasn’t changed? Even though the economy is
changing, the whole world is changing, it is still
valuable to have an office in downtown Greenville.
“Having a Main Street address is pertinent to our
business…it makes us more real,” Guy said. Of
course, it’s also nice to have Chicora Alley across the
hall, an ice cream shop downstairs, and Falls Park
with Liberty Bridge across the street, too.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month of
1918 – World War I ended. The war to end all wars
changed the geo-political face of this planet to such a
degree that we are still dealing with the repercussions
of the Versailles Treaty to this day. It began as
Armistice Day. President Wilson wanted a day to
celebrate the service of our WWI veterans. Under
President Eisenhower in 1954, the day was officially
changed to Veterans Day. We had just come out of
WWII and the Korean War and Ike agreed that we
needed to expand the meaning of this important day to
cover all veterans.
The significance of Veterans Day should never be lost
in the shuffle of our lives for it is the perfect opportunity
to reach out your hand to thank those who have served
our country. Every veteran of our armed services –
whether serving during war or in peace time –
deserves our most solemn appreciation.
So, in the coming days and weeks, I ask you to make a
special effort to thank a veteran. Take the time to
shake their hand, look them directly in the eyes and tell
them that their sacrifice was important and necessary.
And, most importantly, smile and say thank you.
