K-12 Basic Education Curriculum

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
A. Identify the formulas in computing electric consumption
B. Calculate the total electric consumption of appliances
C. Appreciate the importance of calculating the total electric consumption through
applying it in an actual purposes.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Electric Consumption

III. Procedure
A. Preparation
a. Routine Activities
Greetings
Checking of Attendance
b. Review
What is the formula used in calculating the total power?
How to calculate the total power of an appliances?

c. Motivation
The teacher will ask the students about their electric bill and
energy consumed every month especially during summer season.

B. Lesson Proper
- What is electric consumption?
- What are the formulas needed in computing electric consumption?
- How to compute energy cost/consumed every month?
- What are the steps in computing electric consumption?

C. Application
Activity ( recitation – board work)
The teacher will give a drill/board work to the students and they will going to
solve it within the allotted time. The student(s) got the correct answer will be given an
additional points.

Television – (75 watts) 4 hours a day


Desktop - (50 watts) 6 hours a day

D. Generalization
What is the importance of knowing on how to solve and electric
consumption?

IV. Evaluation
Compute for the electric consumption of a basic household device per month,
where: TV is used 5hrs per day with a 80watts rating, Refrigerator that runs 15min 6
times/day with a 70w rating, 2 Electric fans that runs 20 hrs per day with 30watts rating
and 10 lightings that runs 15 hours per day with 15watts rating.
Your Electricity Provider (NEECO II) charges you Php 11.75 per KWh a month.
V. Assignment

Read and understand the information sheet about Combination of Series and Parallel
Circuit.
