The battle is named after "trench", or khandaq, that was dug


by Muslims in preparation for the battle. The word khandaq
(‫ )ﺧﻧدق‬is the Arabised form of the Persian word kandak
(meaning "that which has been dug"). Salman the Persian
advised Muhammad to dig a trench around the city.

Abu Dawood reported in his Sunan that the Prophet (SAS)


came to Thabit Ibn Qais who was sick and recited the dua
upon him, ’O Lord of Mankind, take away the harm from
Thabit Ibn Qais’. Then he (the Prophet) took some earth from
Buthaan (a place in Medina) and then put it in a container
and put water in it. After, doing this, he then splashed the

Masjid Quba was the first Masjid to be built in Islam. The Masjid Suqyaa is located inside the Anbariya train station,
virtue of Masjid Quba is mentioned in the following Quranic and marks the area where Muslims gathered before
verse in Surah Taubah: “…certainly a masjid founded on departing for the Battle of Badr. The Prophet Muhammad
piety from the very first day is more deserving that you (PBUH) performed ablution and offered prayer. Then, he
