Please accept my letter of application for the position of a School Counselor. With my Masters level
education in school counseling, I am particularly interested in utilizing my skills and knowledge in
your district.

I earned my degree from a CACREP accredited graduate program at the University of Scranton. I am
currently licensed to work with students in grades K-12. While attending the University of Scranton I
was afforded the opportunity to work as a graduate assistant for the Counseling and Human Services
Department and was a top five finalist for the Outstanding School Counseling Graduate award. I was
a part of the Community School Based Mental Health Program through the Scranton Counseling
Center. As a Mental Health Professional I worked with students at West Scranton High School who
were experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Prior to taking time off to stay at
home with my two children, I was a school counselor at Fell Charter School. I coordinated and
collaborated with students, teachers, parents and administrators to assist with the behavioral and
academic needs of students in grades K-8. I also assisted students in exploring and becoming familiar
with future career options and began to work with them on building skills that would help them
become successful in their future endeavors.

I have a keen understanding of the academic world students are entering and the unique skills one
needs in order to compete in a global society. It is imperative for students to not only receive a
quality education, but guidance in learning how to work through the personal and social issues that
may inhibit them from leading a successful life throughout their academic endeavors. It is also
imperative to assist students in discovering the many facets that come with career exploration and
preparation. In order to have an impact, I feel it is important for me to build relationships among the
school and the community to enhance the educational and career outcomes of all children.

If given the chance to work with your team, you will see a person who is driven, passionate and
dedicated to help students in all aspects of their lives. I am looking forward to meeting with you to
