COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

From June 24, 2019 to June 28, 2019

Last week of June, our third week here in Manila Med. We need to
conduct the PMs and CMs of the remaining Equipment that are on the list of June.
The very first thing we do on this week was to clean and sort out the equipments
that are in need to dispose and the reports that are needed by the departments and
stations due to the fact that we are having our second step in being accredited by
ISO 9001:2015. The International Organization for Standardization is an
international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various
national standards organizations where in the ISO will check and review a
hospital’s background and operation in order to be accredited.

The next day a nurse assistant delivers a broken Aspirator in our office
stating that the device is not working anymore. Our supervisor Ma’am Karen
Domamay, a junior biomed engineer, helps us on troubleshooting the device, we
need to wear gloves and mask when troubleshooting such devices. An Aspirator
or Suction is an instrument that sucks fluids in the body such as Phlegm, Saliva,
Blood, and etc. These substances are from different people and we need to be
cautious on conducting repairs and maintenance on such devices and alike. First
we open up the equipment remove the screws holding the device and upon
opening it up, the parts we saw were Motor, Capacitor, a Pressure gauge, AC
switch, and a pressure controller. The Problem that we found was the motor will
not rotate and therefore is no suction action is going on. We cleaned the motor
part of the Aspirator due to the substance that is the reason for the motor not to
start up, once we cleaned it it work. We replace also the pressure gauge for it not
working we find some device here for disposal and some parts were working so
we replaced it upon repair and the device starts to work. To check if the device is
working properly we need an external pressure gauge and measure the amount of
pressure the aspirator produce.

As the week comes to end, The most tiring and stressful part of our week
not only for the interns but also for our supervisors. The auditors of ISO visited
the Hospital at Thursday and Friday. We received so many calls asking for reports
and equipments. We were left in our office to accompany incoming calls, while
our supervisors at that time, Ma’am Karen Domamay, Sir Junior Butiong, Sir
Rene Apari, the Manager of Biomed Department of Mt. Grace Hospital Inc. and
Sir Jaypee Salaber, the Assistant Manager of Biomed Department of Mt. Grace
Hospital Inc. are busy managing the needs of each departments and higher ups of
the hospital.

In this week, we learned how to handle and accommodate the needs of the
hospital in our field, we understand that as a company we need to follow our
consumer’s demands and understand to comply with them. We also learned how
to sort at strategize on how we will move and execute a proper plan in
approaching such circumstances that we experienced. It is tiring and fun at the
same time because now we experienced how the Work World is.

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
From July 01, 2019 to June 05, 2019

First week of July, we survived our first month at our internship and
almost finished the list of PMs and CMs for the month, we organized and print the
list of equipments to be checked for today’s month. The ISO certification is over
and Manila Med passed the certification and granted the ISO 9001:2015
certifications.
The first thing we did on our first week is that Sir Jaypee Salaber, the
Assistant Manager of Biomed Department of Mt. Grace Hospital Inc. and Ma’am
Karen Domamay Conducted a meeting, a Junior Biomed Engineer here in Manila
Med. We review the status of our operation here on our office and strategize on
how to improve the quality and efficiency of our department with conducting the
maintenances here in the hospital. We were told to finish the Checklist at 100%
accuracy. It means that we need to perform the maintenances of the equipments of
all in that of the checklist and leave no equipment behind for the month of July.
Sir Junior Butiong, the Senior Biomed Engineer and the head of the Biomed
department in Manila med, also join us at the meeting, we take notes and
precaution for the demands of the end users to satisfy them with our performance
as a team.
We’ve done many PMs and CMs this week almost 30% were already
done. We are introduced to our new tools to check the safety and groundings of
the equipment in the hospital. The ESA615 Electrical Safety Analyzer is a tool
that performs all primary electrical safety tests, including line (mains) voltage,
ground wire (protective earth) resistance, insulation resistance, device current, and
lead (patient) leakage tests. It is also capable of ECG simulation in case we need
to test a patient’s monitor at the same time. This equipment is essential in many
medical devices because such devices are electrically connected to the outlet so it
must have proper grounding in order to be completely safe when attaching to the
patient. The ProSim 8 Vital Signs and ECG Patient Simulator is an all in one
Preventive maintenance tool for simulating many conditions of a patient. This tool
is very efficient to use when conducting maintenance in various tools like.
Sphygmomanometer, Pulse Oximeter, and a Patient monitor.
In this week, we witness that communication is a essential part of having
an organization, being able to listen to your superiors and following their
instructions, participating in their plan for a better and unified process that they
know is good for the department. Being introduce in this type of Environment we
learn how to adapt in changing approach, and how to act in times like this.
Handling this situation and strategizing what will the next steps must we take. I
am really glad that I happen to be meet many awesome people during my OJT
days. I can’t wait to learn more from them.
