1. Minimum and Recommended PC Configurations

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 requires at least the following minimum configuration:
Operating System Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7
Processor Pentium D, 3.0GHz / Core 2 Duo, 2.0GHz / Athlon 64 X2
Memory 2GB RAM
Video Card Video card must be 256MB or more and contain these chips
ets or better: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT ; ATI X1900. Laptop versions of these chip
sets may work but are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card driver
s may be required.
HDD Space 15GB for Digital Download Version, 10GB for Disc Version
DVD Drive 8x DVD Drive or greater
Soundcard Soundcard with DirectX 9.0c compatibility
DirectX DirectX 9.0c

2. Installation
---------------
NOTE: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will only install and run on machines installed
with Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7.
To install from the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DVD:
1. Start your machine and wait for the Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 operating syst
em to load.
2. Place the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DVD in the DVD drive.
3. Windows will automatically detect the DVD and launch the autorun options, fro
m which the user can select to begin the installation. Follow the on-screen inst
ructions to install Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If needed, DirectX 9.0c will be i
nstalled or upgraded during the game installation.
4. The installer will prompt for the CD Key which is provided either in your con
firmation email, your game manual/packaging, or game card.
5. It is optional to install Punkbuster. For online play we strongly recommend i
nstalling Punkbuster since it s required in order to join Punkbuster enabled serve
rs. Only Punkbuster enabled servers will report your stats, so in order to progr
ess in ranks, receive unlocks and gain stats you will need to have Punkbuster ru
nning and play on Punkbuster enabled servers.
6. The installer will prompt how you want to authenticate your copy of Battlefie
ld: Bad Company 2. Disc authentication requires the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 dis
c in the drive to be able to play. Online authentication requires an internet co
nnection but doesn t require the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 disc in the drive to be
able to play. With online authentication you re allowed to install the game on up
to 10 different machines.
7. For XP users, the installation program adds the program group Electronic Arts
/Battlefield Bad Company 2 to your Start/Programs menu, and a shortcut to your d
esktop (optional). Click on this shortcut or alternatively click on the start bu
tton on your Windows task bar. Under Programs/Electronic Arts/Battlefield Bad Co
mpany 2 select "Battlefield Bad Company 2" to play. For Vista/Win 7 users, the t
itle will be added to the Games Explorer. From the Start menu, go to All Program
s/Games and run Games Explorer.
Note: If the Auto insert notification feature has been disabled or the DVD is no
t recognized, run AutoRun.exe from the root directory of the DVD to begin the in
stallation program.

3. DirectX

For your convenience, we have included DirectX 9.0c in the Battlefield: Bad Comp
any 2 installation package.
a) Installing DirectX 9.0c manually
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 comes with DirectX 9.0c and will install it during
installation. If you would like to install it manually, browse to the Battlefiel
d: Bad Company 2 installation package folder, open the "\DirectX" folder and clic
k the on DXSETUP.exe
b) DirectX 9.0c and supported hardware
It is highly recommended that you ensure that your computer's components are
utilising the most recent DirectX 9.0c compatible software drivers. Please consu
lt your card manufacturer for their newest drivers.

4. Uninstall
------------
To uninstall Battlefield: Bad Company 2, click on the Start menu and select Setti
ngs\Control Panel (XP) or Control Panel (Vista/Win 7). Now select Add or Remove
Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista/Win 7). Scroll down the list until
you see Battlefield Bad Company 2, select it and click on Change/Remove (XP) or
Uninstall (Vista/Win 7) to uninstall.
If you've chosen online authentication during the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 inst
allation. The uninstall process will automatically deauthenticate the system and
update your available licenses accordingly. This process requires an internet c
onnection to be present.

5. Default Graphics settings
----------------------------
The first time Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is started, a system check is performed
and default levels are set for the options on the Graphics menu. These default
levels are set to provide the best game play experience possible depending on th
e hardware detected in your system.

6. Peripherals
--------------
The following peripherals are compatible with Battlefield: Bad Company 2:
Microsoft Windows compatible keyboard, mouse and joystick.

7. Troubleshooting
------------------
Computer hardware manufacturers are constantly updating their driver software so
that their hardware can play the latest software programs with the best possibl
e performance. If your system is not using the latest drivers please consider ob
taining an updated driver. Doing this may also give you benefits such as increas
ed performance, the elimination of a technical problem and new component feature
s.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 runs in full screen mode only. It is not recommended t
o use Alt+Tab or Alt+Enter commands in-game, as game functionality may be interr
upted.
If the game audio sounds unbalanced, please ensure that any audio enhancements a
vailable to your sound card are disabled.
ATI Catalyst Control Centre users who have deselected the Anti-Aliasing option "
Use Application Settings" should disable Anti-Aliasing in the Battlefield: Bad C
ompany 2 Video settings.
It is highly recommended that you ensure that your computer's components are uti
lising the most recent DirectX 9.0c compatible software drivers. Please consult
your card manufacturer for their newest drivers.
You can change what DirectX version the game will use in the settings.ini. Defau
lt value is DxVersion=auto you can change it to either 9, 10 or 11. The auto set
ting chooses the highest DX version possible on your system. The settings.ini fi
le is located in your documents folder in a sub folder BFBC2. You can access it
by opening an Explorer window and clicking on My Documents (XP) or Documents (Vi
sta/Win 7). Open the BFBC2 folder and edit the settings.ini file. Please note th
at the setting.ini file will be created the first time you run Battlefield: Bad
Company 2.

ort which in XP is situated in Start Menu/Programs/Electronic Arts/Battlefield B
ad Company 2/Technical Support, and for Vista/Win 7 users in Start Menu/All Prog
rams/Games and running Games Explorer, then right click the Battlefield: Bad Com
pany 2 icon and selecting Technical Support from the drop-down menu.
