Pneumonia - Homeopathy

Pneumonia is an infection of an acute nature caused by either bacteria or

viruses. The most common type of pneumonia is caused by a virus. This
form of pneumonia is called atypical or viral pneumonia.

In a typical case of pneumonia, a person starts with a slight cold and is

suddenly taken over by chills, chest pain, headache, fever, and cough.

The most severe form of pneumonia is caused by the pneumococcus

bacterium. The pneumococcus is present in the secretions of the nose and
throat of every healthy individual, more so in the individual with a cold.
When these secretions are inhaled into the lungs, the bacteria multiplies
and spreads.Within hours as the disease progresses fever, chills, difficult
breathing, cough, and a thick, yellowish-green phlegm tinged with blood is
produced.

If the disease affects one or more lobes of the lungs, it is called lobar
pneumonia. Lobar pneumonia is an inflammation of the lobes.

Other organism such as the streptococcus, or staphylococcus bacteria

cause bronchopneumonia.

Bronchopneumonia is an inflammation involving small patchy areas

of lung tissue of the bronchi. It comes as a complication of bronchitis or
influenza.

Since, there are several different kinds of pneumonia, pneumonia

may occur more than once in the same individual.
Homeopathy in Practice

Respect the body's natural ability to heal.

Every disease is caused by toxins (bacteria, viruses, foreign

agents, etc.). In an attempt to reinstate homeostasis, the body
directs its vitality towards the elimination of toxins. This is
articulated through nasal congestion, bronchial catarrh, cough,
fever, etc.. The symptoms are an attempt of the organism at a
healing process.
A cough reflex is the body's natural method of protecting the
airways. It helps clear foreign substances and secretions from the
respiratory tract.

Do not suppress a cough. Doing so, may lead to an obstruction of

the airways.

When affected by pneumonia, the spongy tissues of the lungs

become solidified. When the doctor taps on the chest, he listens
for a "solid" instead of a "hollow sound.
