Pakistan became an independent country on 14 August 1947.

Before this happened the

leaders of the country had to decide how the country was going to be run. They decided that
Pakistan would be run as a democracy is made up of Islam. The word democracy is made from
two Greeks word: demos (people) and kratos (rules).So democracy means rule by the
people. But it is impossible for everyone in the country to rule it .That is why we have a country
to rule it. That is why we have a government which consists of people elected to rule the
countery.
