Shortlisting criteria for foreign nationals applying for M.Tech and PhD programs

B.E. / B.Tech. (Textile and 60 % (6.0)

 The candidate should have taken physics, chemistry and mathematics in the school final
year and should have obtained first class (not less than 60%) in all the previous degree
and certificates (including school final year).
 Student from non-textile background should have qualifying degrees relevant to
M.Tech. programs of the Department.

Selection Criteria (Cut-off Marks) in interview : 70%

 In the final year of schooling, the applicant should have taken any three of the following
subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
 Candidate should have obtained not less than 60 % in all previous degrees and
 The students from other background should have qualifying degree in any of one of the
following disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering,
Material Science and Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and
Engineering, Apparel Engineering, Fashion Technology, Biotechnology, Microbiology,
Nanotechnology, Polymer Science, Rubber Technology, Civil Engineering,
Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering, MBA students with BE/BTech degree.

Selection Criteria (Cut-off Marks) in interview : 70%

Common requirements for both M.Tech and PhD :

1. Recommendation letters from at least 2 experts from academia / industry.

2. Certificate/mark sheet providing marks in English (in the last appeared examination
either in school or in college/University).
3. A statement/Self-declaration on your English proficiency.
4. Score cards of Indian national examinations like GATE, CSIR/UGC – NET, DST-
INSPIRE etc. or international examinations like GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC,
OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination etc. if you have appeared in these
examinations. (Optional)
The above documents will be used for subjective assessment of the candidate.
