THE TRUMPET CALL 1

Our Mission: To love Jesus Christ and to share His Love

Our Vision: To be a Christian community where Christ is transforming lives
East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church Volume V Issue 29 July 28th, 2019

Hi Friends,
I wanted to take a moment to update you on what is happening in the youth ministry program here at
ESUMC. Last week, you may have seen a group of our youth at the church, or out and about in
Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg. The reason for these sightings was because the Senior High Group
was participating in a local mission trip and retreat. In just two days (Wednesday July 17th and
Thursday July 18th) the Sr. High youth accomplished the following projects around town, and right
here at East Stroudsburg UMC:
• Yard work for a member of ESUMC (mowing grass, weed whacking, power washing, raking, and mulching)
• Power washing ALL the long white tables at ESUMC
• Cleaning out the Fellowship Hall closet where the chairs and tables are stored
• Organizing the Block Party supply closet
• Cleaning all the grills used for the Block Party Outreach
• Trash pickup and distributing Block Party postcard invitations around Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg
• Praying (these youth were courageous in approaching strangers to ask if prayer was needed!)
• Running the Thursday night Block Party Community Outreach Program
These local mission projects were especially meaningful to our youth, because this is their community and this is their
church!! Friends, you know that there is so much that needs to be done right here in Monroe County. We encounter
people all the time who are in need of assistance and who are in desperate need of the HOPE that can only be found in a
relationship with Jesus Christ! I hope you are encouraged by the work our youth are doing in an effort to make ESUMC a
“Christian community where Christ is transforming lives.” I hope their work also challenges you to use whatever gifts God
has granted you to point people to Christ.

Following the two days of local mission projects, we drove down to Brick, New Jersey for part two of our trip: a beach
retreat. A big THANK YOU to Robin and Pat Braun, for always opening their home, for youth trips! While on the retreat, we
had some fun at the beach and the boardwalk, but also explored the Word of God. Our sessions included topics such as,
“Is there a standard for right and wrong?” and “Striving for the holiness and perfection of God in a world that has abandoned
God.” I want to conclude by saying THANK YOU to our ESUMC family who support these youth through your kind words,
your prayers, and your financial donations. The programs we run for youth, in this church, would not be possible without
YOU!
Have a great week and may God continue to guide and bless you!
