Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should read only those
books that are about real events, real people, and established facts.
Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion.

Although most parents say their children that they should read many books about real events, real
people, and established facts, I disagree with this statement as follows; reading fiction story like Harry-
Potter series grow imagination skill, fiction story give people not only interesting but also various opinions,
and imagination skill develop people’s attitude more harmful.

At first, reading fiction novels improve imagination because that needs to be understood situation like real
events. For example, most people have never use magic, unless they will entry magical school like Mr.
Potter. That will make our world more useful without economical and chemical developments. This future
will never come, but it is important to think about how we get good society. Therefore when we read
fictions we have to use our imagination, because we have no specific skill and experience in this real
world.

Second, fiction novels present people not only interesting but also various ideas because most authors
wrote their opinion to real world. Certainly fiction stories are not real events, real people, established
facts. However, authors try to show solutions difficulties with some characters. Most main characters of
novels are interesting character, for example, stupid, sissy, crybaby and so on. And then they will
experience a lot of difficulties and they grow little by little. In addition, they will make best friends and
strong mind to work on them. That shows us good achievement when we do our best.

Lastly, imagination develop people’s attitude, especially children, more harmful. Although most children
want to make many friends in kindergarten, elementary school, and other places, they will be in trouble
with friends, because they have little experience to be sensitive feelings of others. Then studying it from
novels which give them various ways to communicate with others friendly. In addition, they will able to
improve skill how they should share opinions each other.

All in all, I think three reasons why I disagree with this statement as follows; reading fiction novels improve
imagination skill, fiction story make people not only be interesting but also showing various opinions, and
imagination skill grow people’s attitude more harmful with others.
The graphs show enrolment in different colleges in the Higher Colleges of Technology in

1999.

The chart shows student enrolment by gender and level in different colleges of the Higher Colleges of
Technology colleges in the UAE.

There are clear differences in male and female enrolment. Females outnumber men in all the colleges,
with almost 25% more students in Dubai Women's college than in Dubai Men's. Ras Al-Khaimah
Women's College has almost 180 students, compared to only 100 in the Men's college.

Females also outnumber males by level, with almost double the number of men at Higher Diploma level
(330 compared to 181). Only at Diploma level does the number of men slightly exceed that of women.

Over half the students are in Certificate level, with less than a quarter at Higher Diploma or Bachelor
level.

In conclusion, most students in the Higher Colleges are enrolled at Diploma level or below, and the
majority of students are women.
