Mason Blanket

Mason Blanket
Materials:
*Super Bulky Yarn
{I used Bernat Baby Blanket; 3 skeins of Baby Blue (MC) and 1 skein of Funny
Prints(CC)} each skein was approx 86 yds ~ You can use any color combo you like
*Size N (US 9mm) hook
*Tapestry needle
*Scissors

Terms:
ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
( ): repeat step within
{ }: total stitch count

Gauge: 7 hdc’s and 4 rows = 3” square

Body
Ch 51 loosely with Baby Blue (MC)
Row 1: hdc in third ch from hook and in each ch across {50 hdc}
Row 2-31: ch 2, turn; hdc in back loop only of first hdc, (hdc in front loop only of the
next hdc, hdc in back loop only of next hdc) repeat across

This square should measure 21” wide and tall.

Edging
Row 1: switch to Funny Prints (CC) with sl st; ch 1, sc around all four sides, work 3scs in
each end stitch in all 4 corners
Row 2: swith to Baby Blue (MC) with sl st; ch 2, hdc around all four sides, work 3scs in
each end stitch in all 4 corners
Row 3: switch back to Funny Prints (CC) with sl st; ch 1, (sc in next st, hdc in next st) all
around. As in previous rounds, work 3 stitches in each end stitch of 4 corners; follow
pattern.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finished piece should measure approx 24” across and 24.5” tall.
