I hear a lot of people asking the same question and they get the same answer most of the time.
If I were asked the previous question, I would say: go to the country where that language is spoken.
Ok, you want to learn Portuguese; well, why not visit Brazil or if you wanna learn French, France is a good option; Canada as well!
But, sometimes it’s not that easy to make a trip. It’s really expensive and traveling means leaving lots of things in your hometown.
Oki doki, here we go. First off, be open to new ways of learning. I mean, don’t get stuck on a single method. Be free to change. Dare!
If you realize that your way of learning, for instance, English is not working, get rid of that method and try a new one.
Second, live your language. If you’re studying French at an institute, that is just little hours. You have to spend a lot of time learning French by making it part of your life.
Hey! I must do other things; I can’t be reading something in French and using a dictionary all the time. How’s that possible?
You don’t need to do that, moron. Nowadays, we all have a cellphone. Cheap or expensive, it doesn’t matter. The good thing is that we have it and you know? You can change the language on your cell phone. You can do the same thing with your
computer/laptop.
Much as you think that’s not worth it, it is. There are a lot of words that you’ll be unconsciously learning and making them part of your vocabulary.
You’re tired of commuting every day? That’s a very good moment to listen to audios or recordings in the language of your choice.
You will also find a lot of materials on the Internet, such us podcasts and videos on YouTube.
And third, find someone who you can speak to! According to my experience, most learners are afraid of speaking for several reasons. However, speaking is fundamental, unless you want to communicate by writing (sending letters, for example).
A teacher is not the solution; a lot of students fail even though they have one. And the opposite is sometimes true; a lot of people succeed without a teacher’s help.
And finally, the answer that most people get is: STUDY! Boring, right?
In a debate, speakers take turns presenting arguments for or arguments against a controversial issue. Each speaker provides facts, examples, and statistics to prove that his/her
DEBATE argument is accurate. Each speaker also tries to show that the other speaker’s arguments are incorrect, incomplete or illogical. Members of the audience must listen and decide which
speaker presented a stronger argument.
