To-Do-List before commissioning:

AP Sensing input Customer comments

1. Visa: If there is a visa necessary to enter the country, please
provide all documents on time (e.g. official invitation, need of
biometrical passport photographs, etc.). Furthermore, if there are
special pre-work permits necessary (e.g. confirmation of health-or
social insurance, company insurance, medical-or training certificates,
etc.) please inform us on time.
2. HSE: Please make sure, that the whole workplace is safe,
according to international HSE (Health-Safety-Environment)
standards. High-Voltage-Applications: Please note and confirm, that
the power cables have zero potential (no load) to accomplish all work
safe. PPE: Is special Personal Protection Equipment necessary (e.g.
flame retardant overall, etc.)?
3. CONDITION: Please make sure that all shipped goods are
available, nothing is missing or damaged, otherwise please inform us.
4. RACK: Rack including all goods has to be mounted and fixed
already, also connected to power and ground, please send a
concerning picture.
5. FIBRES_general: The DTS comprises 2 channels E2000/APC
connectors with 8° angular polished ferrule end faces, do not use
other types of connectors. Furthermore, please avoid using patch
cables for connection purposes, because of additional attenuation
and return loss. All fibers have to be installed and spliced up to the
rack / DTS instrument please send a concerning picture.

6. FIBRES_detailed:
a) Please prepare the very end of each sensor cable as good as
possible to avoid a Fibre end reflection. Cover it with according heat-
shrink tubes and fix the ring of the last 20m. Alternatively use
termination boxes (single entry joint box with splice cassette + 20m of
fibre with special prepared fibre end, so called optical swamp) . Those
need to be spliced onto the very end of the sensor cable. GENERAL:
Please make sure having safe access to the fibre end in case of
renewing the termination. Keep in mind that there is enough fibre
length to configure the last 20m as “fibre end reflection area” (no
active measurement possible in this area). In case of too short length,
use the termination boxes anyway.

b) High-Voltage-Applications: Please clarify carefully if there are

special requirements regarding grounding system
c) Please send all splice protocols (OTDR-traces) after
accomplishment of all splice work.

d) Please prepare the zone list incl. required definitions (size +

location of each section along the sensor cable, definition of outputs,
etc.) Please clarify the expected temperature along the cable and
create the right alarm parameter setting (“max. temperature” value at
least)
7. RTTR: In case the project is related to RTTR (Real Time Thermal
Rating), please note that all necessary work has to be done in
advance: At least RTTR-software-modeling, installation of ambient
Fibre and installation of additional measurement sensors and their
communication hardware.
8. SCADA: Is there a connection to a third-party-system (SCADA) or
only usage of the controller outputs in case of alarm / malfunction?
Please note that additional hardware like e.g. buzzer or reset button
need to get installed separately by the customer.
9. ON-SITE ACCESS: We need to have safe access to the whole
installation, please clarify if further permits and maybe additional
passport photographs are necessary.
10. POWER: Please arrange a car and mobile power generator / long
extension cord for heating the cable if there is no power outlet right
next to.
11. NETWORK: If you want to connect the DTS to a local network,
please ask for support by the concerning IT staff and additionally for
the usable IP-addresses in advance.
12. MISCELLANEOUS: Are there further issues need to be
