Duties and Responsibilities


As a Rig Manager
 Personally responsible for own safety and conducting oneself to the standards of
company and procedures.
 Provide Drillers and crewmembers hell and guidance as needed.
 Make sure jobs being performed are carried out as safety and efficiently as possible
 Rig Manager planning and preparation of upcoming jobs on rig
 Participate and be involved in all safety meetings and drills
 If something is being done in an unsafe manner stop it and correct the situation and
always explain your actions for doing so.
 Work together with everyone on rig as a team and always be a team player.
 Always practice good leadership habit
 Keep a good attitude about your job and surroundings
 Observe work habits of everyone on rig and make sure they are being carried out to
company
 Be involved in smart program at all times.
 Assist Drillers in delegating work for crewmembers and seeing it is carried out
 Know your rig and equipment and make sure it is maintained properly at all times
 Assist Electricians and Mechanics if needed to work on equipment or perform preventive
maintenance as required
 Making sure all paperwork is done on time and filled out properly
 Assist Operator Rep. in any matter he has concerning the rig or well if needed
 Help in maintaining a good working relationship between Rig and Operator
 Conducting or ensuring that monthly rig inspections are performed
 Immediate reporting of all accidents, incidents and near misses
 Ensure understanding of, and compliance with company permit to work system
 Rig Manager’s responsibility to see that all the drilling and safety equipment is in proper
working order and is used according to the prescribed procedures. He makes monthly rig
inspections using the Monthly Rig Manager Inspection Checklist. He ensures that the
drillers have familiarized their crews with the equipment and procedures, with emphasis
on new or inexperience’s men.
 The detection and elimination of unsafe acts and practices.
 Overseeing the implementation of all safety recommendations.
 Ensuring that the Drillers do not exceed the safe working limits of their crews and
equipment
 Taking appropriate action to prevent repetitive accidents/ incidents.
 Overseeing the implementation of the “new employee” induction / orientation program.
 Is familiar with the follows all Company policies, procedures and work instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Tool Pusher
 The tool pusher is responsible for assisting and helping the Rig Manager oversee the
proper operations of the rig and its equipment
 To demonstrate and promote safety leadership
 Assist responsibilities if Rig Manager should be away from the rig.
 Assist Drillers and crewmembers if they need any help or guidance.
 Assist Operator Rep. if he needed any help.
 Maintain good relations between Operator Rep. and Nabors.

Duties and Responsibilities


As a Driller

 The Driller must be fully aware of each individual’s capabilities. This permits him to carry
out operations at a speed does not exceed the safe working limits of his men. It is much
better to run the rig a little slower, allowing each ma time to do his job safely and
properly, than to push for speed and have something go wrong that either injuries
someone or stops the drilling operation altogether.

 It is the Driller then who must be certain that new men know their specific duties before
they go on the job. He ensures that every member of his crew is well-trained in the safest
way to do their job, and they are familiar with the numerous devices and equipment
upon which their safety might depend. To this end he conducts daily, pre-job and weekly
safety meetings. He also makes sure that the safety equipment is used properly and
maintained adequately.

I have been working on Large Land Drilling Rig for 26 years I’ve worked from Saudi Arabia &
Yemen and back to Saudi Arabia. I started on a Drilling Rig as a Floor Hand, Derrick Hand, Roustabout
Pusher, Assistant Driller, Driller, Toolpusher, Rig Manager and Toolpusher.

The Bulk of my experience has been with Power Rig and now with new State of the Art. A.C
EATON BRAKE (EL MAGGO). I have worked with MID Continent 1220 ( 2000 HP Drawwork with A.C
EATON BRAKE; Can Rig Top Drive 1050E-500 Ton with Oilwell 500 (500 Ton Block) High Floor.
