SETUP GUIDE

This document provides instructions for installing and activating Data Center Design and
Operation. All required files are included on the CD-ROM. If you have any questions or need

USING DATA CENTER DESIGN AND OPERATION

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Following are the minimum system requirements for Data Center Design and Operation:
Intel® Pentium® Processor III or equivalent processor
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home Edition (32-bit/64-bit), Microsoft®
Windows® Vista® (32-bit/64-bit), Microsoft® Windows® 7® (32-bit/64-bit)
256 MB of RAM
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6 or higher
Adobe® Acrobat®/Adobe Reader® 8.0 or higher (Adobe Reader® 9.0 is included on the
CD-ROM. Adobe® Acrobat®/Adobe Reader® must be installed before installing Data
Center Design and Operation)
CD-ROM drive
350 MB of available hard-disk space
Note: Setup should be run with the Windows user account that has administrative privileges.
INSTALLING ADOBE READER/ACROBAT
This publication requires Adobe Reader/Acrobat 8.0 or higher for usage. If Adobe Reader/Acrobat
8.0 or higher is already installed on your computer then you do not need to re-install Adobe
Reader/Acrobat. However, you may choose to upgrade to Adobe Reader 9.0 that is included on
the CD-ROM.
INSTALLING DATA CENTER DESIGN AND OPERATION
Please install Data Center Design and Operation using the steps given below.

Insert the Data Center Design and Operation CD in the CD-ROM drive. The setup screen
launches automatically. If the setup does not start, select Start -> Run and type
x:\setup.exe where x:\ indicates the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive on the workstation.
Select the Install Datacom Series CD button to install Data Center Design and Operation on
the workstation.

Please wait while setup is initialized.

Select Next on the Welcome screen to proceed to the next step.

The Customer Information screen will be displayed. To continue you must provide your
contact information. Select the Next button to complete the license activation process

Note: Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet when you install the Data
Center Design and Operation CD.

The Destination Folder screen is displayed. If you would like to change the default location
where the setup installs the files, select the Change button and select a different installation
folder. Select the Next button to proceed to the next step.
The next screen of the setup displays the installation summary. Review the current settings,
and select the Install button to start the installation procedure.
Select the Finish button when the installation is complete.
USING DATA CENTER DESIGN AND OPERATION
To start using the Data Center Design and Operation product, select Start -> All Programs ->
ASHRAE -> Data Center Design and Operation -> ASHRAE Datacom Series CD, 2nd
Edition.
