ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

MATHEMATICS
I. INTRODUCTION

Mathematics is one of the subject areas that need an effective and efficient way of

teaching because of its nature and complexity. It is such an interesting subject that it

deserves to be appreciated and even loved by students, and never to be considered

as a dismal subject especially by slow learners. Through cooperative learning it

promotes higher achievement in mathematics than competitive and individualistic

learning. Because working cooperatively, students are not afraid to try and take risk

and thus, students in learning groups tend to like their groupmates.

II. ACTIVITIES

A. MTAP Review

Mathematics Department conducted 2018 MTAP – DepEd Saturday Program

for regular students as part of the school continuous improving quality education. The

six – Saturday Math Class Program started on August 4, 2018 and ended last

September 22, 2018. All participants were enjoyed, cooperative and very eager to

learn and also the teachers who actively and patiently trained their students. The

Mathematics teachers divided the participants into groups where they exhibited

cooperation with their groupmates in order to answer the Math problems correctly and

accurately.

B. MTAP Evaluation

The Math teachers then conducted the MTAP Evaluation for top three

students per section per level last September 8, 2018. There were three

Mathletes and three Trainers who received Certificates of Recognition: Zarie

Gail B. Almenanza of BSSAA Grade 7 class 1 received Third Honor and her

trainer Mrs. Dolor D. Sulit; Kenshin Dane S. Cedeno of SV5A NHS, Grade 7

class 2 received Third Honor and his trainer Mr. Wilmar S. Salutem; Iya May R.

Carandang of SV5A NHS, Grade 8 class 1 received Second Honor and her

trainer Ms. Violeta P. Pagcaliwagan. Nine students per section per level

received also Most Active Mathlete Certificates.

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

In the implementation of the 2018 MTAP – DepEd Saturday Program in mathematics

for regular students for 6 Saturdays, these are the problems encountered:

1. Motivation. Stakeholders and the target learners lack motivation to fully

commit themselves to the programs and activities.

2. Time. Time management was one of the problems encountered by some

participants in involving themselves in the different activities.

V. HOW THE SCHOOL ADDRESSED THE PROBLEMS

1. Parents and other stakeholders were oriented about the status of the

students and discussed with all the benefits of the programs to the

development of the learners.

2. The organizers has set a time table and schedule of the activities. This

schedule helps in the timeliness of all activities and in the punctuality and

availability of the participants.

VI. RECOMMENDATIONS

Every academic institution aims the development and success of every learner.

The institution, teachers together with other stakeholders should collaborate to plan

and carry out activities that will develop learners holistically. One of those programs

that should be taken into account is the MTAP Review Program.

The implementation is a big success but this should not stop from here what this

program needs is support and continuity.

VII. DOCUMENTATION

FOCUSED ON SOLVING. The DepEd Biñan City officials and Math EPS observe

the MTAP participants as they answer Math problems individually.

ANSWERING INTENTLY. The MTAP participants exhibit cooperative learning as

they answer the Math problems intently while their teacher looks on.

LISTEN TO ME. The facilitators ask the mathletes to listen carefully as they give

instructions and some techniques on how to solve the problems faster.

LET’S CELEBRATE. The mathletes proudly show their certificates as they have

successfully completed the MTAP review.
