KADANWARI PWS EVALUATION PROJECT
Basis of Design

1 INTRODUCTION
OMV (Pakistan) Exploration G.m.b.H. engaged ENAR Petrotech Services
(Pvt.) Limited for the evaluation of Kadanwari plant produced water system
for the forecasted produced water production of 12,000 BPD.

The produced water system comprises of two independent produced water

units: Kadanwari and Miano Produced water unit. Both units combine at a
common produced water storage tank. From the tank produced water is re-
injected into the well through a high pressure produced water disposal pump.

This document presents the basis of design to be taken for the evaluation of
produced water system.

2 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
The produced water system of Kadanwari Central Processing Facility
comprises of two independent produced water trains: Kadanwari and Miano
Produced water train. Both trains combine at a common produced water
storage tank. From the tank produced water is re-injected into the well through
a high pressure produced water disposal pump. Slugging flows are routed to
produced water storage tank by dump valve.

The Miano produced water system receives liquid from following equipments:
1. Miano Upstream Slug catcher (V-0340)
2. Miano Slug Catcher (V-0330)
3. Condensate Separator Blowcase (V-1215)
4. Train-1 Inlet Separator (V-0320)
5. Train-2 Inlet Separator (V-0325)

Liquid from these equipments is routed to a three phase separator (V-2031)

where oil and water are separated and flashed gases are routed to incinerator.
Separated water is routed to produced water storage tank (T-2040).

The Kadanwari produced water system receives liquid from following

equipments:
1. Low Pressure Slug Catcher (V-0410)
2. High Pressure Slug Catcher (V-0310)
3. Sour Fuel Gas Knock Out Drum (V-2230)
4. Recycle Inlet Separator (V-0620)
5. Recycle Feed Gas Scrubber (W-0620)
6. Recycle Filter Coalescer (W-0610)
7. Front End Compressor Stage-1 Suction Scrubber (V-1120)
8. Front End Compressor Stage-2 Suction Scrubber (V-1130)
9. Sales Gas & Recycle Gas Compressor Suction Scrubbers

Liquid from these equipments is routed to a degasser (V-2010). Flashed gases

are routed to incinerator and liquid is routed to an oil-water separator (A-
2000). Separated water is diverted to a disposal tank (T-2020) from where
further pumped to produced water storage tank (T-2040).

A sketch of the produced water system configuration is provided in Annexure-

01.

As per information provided by OMV, some of the input streams to

Kadanwari produced water system are inactive i.e. do not experience any
liquid flow rates. These include the recycle and sales gas compressors suction
drums, recycle membrane pre-treatment section and sour fuel gas knock out
drum. Therefore, the system configuration considered for produced water
evaluation is limited to only active streams. A sketch of the considered system
configuration is shown in Annexure-01.

KADANWARI PWS EVALUATION PROJECT
Basis of Design

In Kadanwari produced water system, the degasser downstream section has

two different arrangements.
1. Degasser liquid routed to oil-water separator (stated above)
2. Degasser liquid routed to storage tank (T-2021)

In the second arrangement liquid from degasser is routed to a storage tank (T-
2021) from where the produced water is pumped to either produced water
storage tank (T-2040) or to oily-water separator. For the system evaluation
arrangement-1 will be followed.
