Now lets study the sexual reproduction
in animals, how these animals similar to each
other.
Sexual reproduction takes place when sex
cell from two parent animals (one male and
one female) unite to form a new animals.
Animals have sex organs that produce sex
cells or gametes. These gametes contain
information about the new organisms. There are
two types of sex cells or gametes. The egg cell
for female and sperm cell for male.
Fertilization takes place when a sperm cell is
unite with the egg cell. The fertilized egg is
called zygote which develops into an embryo.
The embryo undergoes continuous development
until it eventually grows into newborn animals.
There are two types of fertilization. Internal
fertilization and external fertilization.
Internal fertilization happens when the male
releases sperm cells into the body of the female
animal to fertilize the egg cell. Insects, birds, cats,
and cows undergo internal fertilization.
External fertilization occur outside the bodies of the
animal parent. Most frogs and fishes undergo
external fertilization.
