BLUEBOOK 2019
PREFACE
The bluebook is a document that contains information about companies that the placement
team collects from the previously placed batch. This is done to make sure there is knowledge
transfer between the placed and the present batches. We have collected information on the
profile job description, compensation, the number of people placed with the profile, various
stages of the selection process.
The companies have been sorted slot-wise from the higher to lower slot (1.1 - 2.2) and
alphabetically with each of the slots. Please make sure you understand that the all the
information in this document is compiled from the past information and there is no surety that
the process, compensation or the JD will be the same for the coming year too.
SLOT 1.1
Auctus Advisors
Business Analyst
JD:
Auctus Advisors is a management consulting and advisory firm with the goal of supporting high potential
companies to create sustainable value. As a philosophy, we prefer to be growth partners for our clients, rather
than just consultants. Our focus, therefore, is on helping our clients make the critical strategic decisions,
customized to their particular contexts, and back it up by ensuring a smooth execution of the strategy on the
ground. Our Consultants bring with them a deep experience in strategy and management consulting across the
globe and in multiple sectors. Auctus Advisors has worked with some of the biggest and most respected global

Banking and Financial Services, Power and Energy, Public Policy, Sports, Real Estate, Construction,
Renewable Energy, Healthcare and Education.
As a Business Analyst, your role would be to: − Add value to clients by generating innovative ideas − Drive
decision making through critical/thorough analysis − Support the project leader by undertaking primary and
secondary research A Business Analyst will be an integral part of the team working directly with the client on
strategic engagements and can expect significant client interaction.
Selection Process:
CGPA Cut-off: none
Test: none
GD: none
Types of Rounds:
Two preliminary rounds were held even before the actual interview. They are called buddy rounds. These are
two or three case studies that try to judge the way you dissect the problem. One round held on the day of
the interview is a case study based and one is a guesstimate. They look for a mutually exclusive and
collectively exhaustive approach (MECE). For a problem in hand, one needs to see all the possible reasons
and suggest the required modifications. Some HR and resume questions were also asked.

Bain & Company is a global business consulting firm with offices in all major cities. We help management make
the big decisions: on strategy, operations, mergers & acquisitions, technology and organization. Bain was
founded in 1973 on the principle that consultants must measure their success in terms of their clients' financial
results. Companies that outperform the market like to work with us; we are as passionate about their results as
they are.
Bain associate consultants (ACs) are the heart and soul of our organization. At Bain, you will be our frontline in
developing powerful insights as well as driving results for our clients. We invest heavily in our ACs. That
investment pays off, not only for Bain. A large number of our ACs become business leaders inside of our firm
and across industries. ACs are generalists who work with case teams and are exposed to a wide variety of
industries and capabilities. On each case, ACs find the right information, create and interpret analyses, and
present their findings to case teams and clients. Their work becomes the basis of the team's strategic
recommendations. As ACs become stronger contributors to their teams, they gain more client contact and
broader strategic development responsibilities. More than just "analysts" who analyse and report data, ACs are
core to how Bain generates results for clients.

Analysts are our front lines of research, analysis, and presentation - building the team’s knowledge base
around the topic at hand. As those who dive deepest into the issues, Analysts think critically and creatively to
develop insights based on their findings from the research process. They gain a broad knowledge base that
cuts across sectors and geographies while serving as the core of every project’s work.
The Dalberg Asia Analyst Program covers the first 2 years of a strategy consulting career. We attract
thoughtful, diligent, and passionate problem solvers to take on complex challenges in a variety of sectors.
Including energy, urban development, education, global health, and more.
The program is our commitment to helping you grow professionally, engage deeply with communities, and gain
an international perspective for your career.
Selection Process:
CGPA Cut-off: none
Test:
No aptitude test, per se. There was a 10 minute Skype interview/test for all candidates from the initial
resume-based shortlist (~35 people)
Sections of the Test:
There was math and general HR for consulting
Preparation for the Test:
Mostly went with the flow, but I did think about my answers to the typical consulting HR questions - Why
Consulting? Why Dalberg? What are your strengths and weaknesses? and other such questions.
Suggestions for Test:
Just be calm and confident. That's important as it's a test you'll be taking via Skype. (I know that sounds
weird, but that's exactly what happens - there's a Google form on the screen and someone guides you on
Skype to solve problems/tell them your answers)
Number of People Selected from the Test:
Only 8 out of the initial shortlist made it post the test to the final interviews. There was no GD. However,
during placements, there were a few people who were put on a wait list who also got to interview with the
firm.
GD: none
Number of Interview Rounds: 4
Types of Interview Rounds:
All my interviews had a combination of a case and some HR. But the interview mostly revolved around the
case. The HR parts were seamlessly integrated into the interview/case
Preparation Material Used for Interview:
Typical case prep books. I particularly liked Day 1.0, Case Interviews Cracked (CIC), Victor Cheng (book +
LOMS) and the latest IIMA casebook. I also used some case books from the business schools abroad -
Harvard, Yale and LBS - but that was mostly because some of my case buddies used them and I quite liked
the theory in those books. But I think the case books from the universities abroad aren't really necessary
while prepping for placements in insti.
Suggestions for the Interview:
It's very important to be aware of the differences between a typical consulting interview case and a Dalberg
case. Dalberg cases always have sensitives in-built because Dalberg primarily works in the development
sector. So the cases will also reflect the same. I recommend reading up about the various practice areas of
Dalberg from the website to get a good understanding of the type of cases they work with so that you're not
thrown by the context of the case during your interview. Also, it's important to be calm and confident during
the interview. Finally, it's important to be coachable during the interview. Not only does the interviewer want
to see how well you're able to structure and think to solve cases, but also whether you're going to be a great
fit for their case team. Picking up on hints given by the interviewer and using it effectively in your case
solving shows the interviewer that you'd be a good fit for the team.
Exit Options:
Business School, lateral shifts to other companies that work in the development space, externships leading
to full time shifts to organisations such as NITI Aayog.

If reliability and scalability defined the previous decade of tech evolution, intelligence and adaptation (aka
personalization) is going to define the coming decade. Systemic intelligence and data driven products are going
to be most important aspects for creating unparalleled customer experience.
Data Science team is also leveraging partnerships with Indian and foreign universities like CMU, IIT‟s, IISc and
IIIT‟s for pushing state of the art research for these problems. At Flipkart, Data scientists are embedded with
the engineering and product team for the problem they are working on. This ensures that the data science
solutions are envisioned along with product delivery.
We have a very flat structure within Data Science team, which enables us to focus on excellence and create a
deep sense of ownership. Also, being a young team, we are able to democratize the process of problem
selection.
Our techniques span classification, clustering, matrix factorization, graphical models, networks and graph
algorithms, topic modelling, image processing, deep learning and NLP, each one of them being exercised at a
large scale. If you want to challenge the status quo and want to impact the wide-open landscape in India,
Flipkart Data Science team is the place for you!

decision making. Data analysts work on three broad types of problems to enable this -
Data analysts should have a flair for structured problem solving and are typically skilled on SQL, Python, R and
other applications that handle big data. They should also possess good applied knowledge of commonly used
statistical concepts, machine learning and operations research techniques.

About us
Founded in 2014 and listed among the world’s top emerging businesses, RIVIGO is writing the future of
logistics with a global-first driver relay model enabled by a unique mix of next generation technology and
operational excellence.
Through the relay model, we have fundamentally changed the truck driver’s job from a ‘months-away-from-
home’ job to a ‘day’ job. Unlike conventional truck drivers, relay pilots drive from pitstop to pitstop (under 300
kms) and return to their families the same day, thus initiating a huge cycle of social change.
Our customers leverage 50-70% reduction in transit time and 100% precision and reliability to reinvent their
business models – by serving new markets, reducing inventory and significantly cutting costs. With ground-
breaking technology solutions and advanced data analytics, we are a unique logistics network that aspires to
be India’s largest new age logistics platform. We are contributing to building the new India by defining the next-
generation trucking industry with accurate predictions, elevated levels of efficiency, simple automated
operations, and by making logistics human.

Aptitude, Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension type questions and a Case Study where you had a situation in

Test preparation:
Used time study material for aptitude, verbal reasoning and comprehension. For the case study, use Day 1.0 or
Case In Point or any other Case book provided by the placement team.

Speed and accuracy is important. You need to be sure of your calculations and be thorough with the concepts
involved for most of the questions as you will have very little time to sit and reason out the logic for each and
every question.

exhausting them and take notes instead of following the chain in your head for clarity and more insights.
