CGPA Cut-off: none

Test: none

GD: none

Number of Interview rounds: 3

Types of Rounds:
Two preliminary rounds were held even before the actual interview. They are called buddy rounds. These are
two or three case studies that try to judge the way you dissect the problem. One round held on the day of
the interview is a case study based and one is a guesstimate. They look for a mutually exclusive and
collectively exhaustive approach (MECE). For a problem in hand, one needs to see all the possible reasons
and suggest the required modifications. Some HR and resume questions were also asked.

Preparation Material Used for Interview:

Case in point, day 1.0, IIM A, ISB case books, Victor Cheng, Day 1.0, CIC

Suggestions for the Interview:
Keep your calm and put yourself in the shoes of the problem. For consult especially, keep a few numbers
such as population (rough estimate) of India, rural, urban split and all such things. Don't worry if you get the
numbers wrong anywhere, it's the approach that is most important. Have a strong case solving approach.

Exit Options:
Since we work with various industries in both public and private sectors, you get a diverse experience. This
will help you jump into a variety of related industries. People usually go for an MBA, start-up, PE, VC etc.

Bain & Company
Associate Consultant

JD:
Bain & Company is a global business consulting firm with offices in all major cities. We help management make
the big decisions: on strategy, operations, mergers & acquisitions, technology and organization. Bain was
founded in 1973 on the principle that consultants must measure their success in terms of their clients' financial
results. Companies that outperform the market like to work with us; we are as passionate about their results as
they are.
Bain associate consultants (ACs) are the heart and soul of our organization. At Bain, you will be our frontline in
developing powerful insights as well as driving results for our clients. We invest heavily in our ACs. That
investment pays off, not only for Bain. A large number of our ACs become business leaders inside of our firm
and across industries. ACs are generalists who work with case teams and are exposed to a wide variety of
industries and capabilities. On each case, ACs find the right information, create and interpret analyses, and
present their findings to case teams and clients. Their work becomes the basis of the team's strategic
recommendations. As ACs become stronger contributors to their teams, they gain more client contact and
broader strategic development responsibilities. More than just "analysts" who analyse and report data, ACs are
core to how Bain generates results for clients.

Responsibility and learning

As a Bain AC, you get the chance to make an impact right away. You're the one who finds the critical
information, develops high-quality analysis and assesses the most pressing issues our clients face. You also
share your insights and recommendations with your team and the client. In short, we expect and need you to
make a difference. Throughout your time as an AC, you'll learn, be stretched, and grow at an incredible pace.
In addition to hands-on experience during client engagements, regular, worldwide, formal training programs will
teach you the broad skill set you need to succeed as a business leader. But perhaps the most profound
learning experiences come simply from interacting with your colleagues. Bain people represent the best and
the brightest of the consulting industry. Working closely alongside your team and benefiting from informal
mentoring, you'll quickly fill any gaps in your industry knowledge. You, in turn, will be surprised at how fast you
start mentoring others.

Global Training Programs

Training is an integral part of your learning at Bain. As an AC, you will be a part of the Associate Consultant
Training (ACT) program which is organized at Virginia/Boston, USA every year. ACT is perhaps the best
experience for a new recruit – great learning, a window to share experiences and meet fellow ACs from around
the world.

Place of Posting: Gurgaon /Mumbai / Bangalore.

Selection Process:
CGPA Cut-off: none

Number of Interview rounds: 2 or 3

they have liked working in. A lot of them have moved to VC companies. MBA is another option in tier 1
institutes. Though consult does not guarantee admission it does increase your chances due to the
experiences gained. Sometimes even clients extend offers to consultants. Opportunities in Private Equity

Dalberg Global Development Advisors
Analyst

JD:
Analysts are our front lines of research, analysis, and presentation - building the team’s knowledge base
around the topic at hand. As those who dive deepest into the issues, Analysts think critically and creatively to
develop insights based on their findings from the research process. They gain a broad knowledge base that
cuts across sectors and geographies while serving as the core of every project’s work.
The Dalberg Asia Analyst Program covers the first 2 years of a strategy consulting career. We attract
thoughtful, diligent, and passionate problem solvers to take on complex challenges in a variety of sectors.
Including energy, urban development, education, global health, and more.
The program is our commitment to helping you grow professionally, engage deeply with communities, and gain
an international perspective for your career.

Selection Process:
CGPA Cut-off: none

Test:
No aptitude test, per se. There was a 10 minute Skype interview/test for all candidates from the initial
resume-based shortlist (~35 people)

Sections of the Test:
There was math and general HR for consulting

Preparation for the Test:
Mostly went with the flow, but I did think about my answers to the typical consulting HR questions - Why
Consulting? Why Dalberg? What are your strengths and weaknesses? and other such questions.

Suggestions for Test:
Just be calm and confident. That's important as it's a test you'll be taking via Skype. (I know that sounds
weird, but that's exactly what happens - there's a Google form on the screen and someone guides you on
Skype to solve problems/tell them your answers)

Number of People Selected from the Test:
Only 8 out of the initial shortlist made it post the test to the final interviews. There was no GD. However,
during placements, there were a few people who were put on a wait list who also got to interview with the
firm.

GD: none

Number of Interview Rounds: 4

Types of Interview Rounds:
All my interviews had a combination of a case and some HR. But the interview mostly revolved around the
case. The HR parts were seamlessly integrated into the interview/case

Preparation Material Used for Interview:
Typical case prep books. I particularly liked Day 1.0, Case Interviews Cracked (CIC), Victor Cheng (book +
LOMS) and the latest IIMA casebook. I also used some case books from the business schools abroad -
Harvard, Yale and LBS - but that was mostly because some of my case buddies used them and I quite liked
the theory in those books. But I think the case books from the universities abroad aren't really necessary
while prepping for placements in insti.

Suggestions for the Interview:
It's very important to be aware of the differences between a typical consulting interview case and a Dalberg
case. Dalberg cases always have sensitives in-built because Dalberg primarily works in the development
sector. So the cases will also reflect the same. I recommend reading up about the various practice areas of
Dalberg from the website to get a good understanding of the type of cases they work with so that you're not
thrown by the context of the case during your interview. Also, it's important to be calm and confident during
the interview. Finally, it's important to be coachable during the interview. Not only does the interviewer want
to see how well you're able to structure and think to solve cases, but also whether you're going to be a great
fit for their case team. Picking up on hints given by the interviewer and using it effectively in your case
solving shows the interviewer that you'd be a good fit for the team.

Exit Options:
Business School, lateral shifts to other companies that work in the development space, externships leading
to full time shifts to organisations such as NITI Aayog.

McKinsey & Company
Business Analyst

JD:
Business Analysts join our offices around the world to work in teams and directly with our clients. When you join
McKinsey as a Business Analyst (BA), you are joining a firm that will challenge you and invest in your
professional development. In this role you will work on the best teams to help the best organizations in the
world – in private, public, and social sectors – solve their most difficult problems. You will also work with many
experts, from data scientists and researchersto software and app designers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
You’ll work in teams of typically 3 – 5 consultants, playing an active role in all aspects of the client engagement.
This includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and
communicating recommendations. You’ll also have the opportunity to present results to client management and
implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. You’ll gain new skills and build on the
strengths you bring to the firm. Business Analysts receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and

Test:

Sections:
Entirely Aptitude (Mathematics, Mental ability, quant)
General suggestions:
Be good at quant and logic.
Have sufficient practice in aptitude tests. (Not for knowledge, but for speed). Expect them to ask "innovative
patterns". Be thorough with basic probability and statistics.

Interview:

Number of Rounds: 4

Round 1&2: Technical

They asked quant questions on probability and statistics. They also asked a few resume-based questions. It
would help if you are well-versed with the topics. However, even if you are not able to solve the problem, if you
discuss the approach with decent confidence, it should be good.

Round 3: Technical + HR
They ask a few quant questions, including a conditional probability question which was repeated from previous
rounds. They also ask questions about how you would resolve different situations in the office.

Round 4: HR
This will be more about whether you wanted to join the company, why you should join, the benefits of the work,
etc. They also ask 1-2 machine learning questions.

Preparation
 Basic probability and statistics from InterviewBit and Wikipedia
 Resume revision.

General Suggestions:

Prepare probability and statistics well. Be thorough with the basics. (Also prepare conditional probability. One
question was repeated across rounds, even across profiles, in ANZ.) Brush up basics of data science/machine
learning.

Even if you are not that thorough, it's okay. Appear confident. Show your problem solving skills, and discuss
the approach. Being well-dressed might help, though I am not sure.

Be thorough with your resume. It might help. Also brush up your vocabulary for "standard" HR questions.

General suggestions:
The questions in 1st section were very easy and you are expected to score full marks to get the shortlist
Questions in section 2,3 are very tough and require a lot of revision of the MA101,MA102 concepts.
Coding questions were very easy. They asked 4 questions and we were expected to solve them in 40mins.

The same exam was conducted in all the IITs parallelly and the cut offs of different sections are decided
considering all those performances.

You will only be shortlisted if you clear the cut offs of all the sections

Interview:

Number of Rounds: 4

Round 1: Quant and puzzle

Few puzzle questions followed by questions in probability.
The topics in probability that were mainly focused are conditional probability, expectation values.
First round will be easy.

Round 2:
Second round of interview will be a bit long and the level of questions a bit high.
Pattern similar to round 1 i.e. puzzles and probability.
Expect questions related to any finance related intern (if you have done)

Round 3:
The next round is with the senior management of the firm and they only concentrate on your resume. They may
question about each and every line on it. Right from the GPA to reason for undertaking a particular PoR and
how that helped in your career.
Round 4:
The fourth round will be an HR interview. A typical HR interview with a lot of questions from „64 HR questions‟.
They want you to tell about incidents that show your teamwork capabilities, leadership capabilities etc. They will
give you incidents in which you will be under tremendous pressure; and they want to know how you would react
in such situations.

Preparation Material

Puzzles - Heard on the street, Geeks for geeks

Interview:

Number of Rounds: 1

Round 1: Technical
Nature: Skype interview from US ( 30 -45 mins)

There are two parts in the same interview.

First part: Basic ML/Data science

They ask very basic questions (around 10-15 of the them); if you have done a basic ML course and PCA
course, it should be fine.
Questions may be asked on ML algorithms and improvisation techniques for neural networks. A problem
statement will be given and a solution needs to be designed using various types of neural networks of their
choice and also techniques to improve the accuracy.

Second part: Computer/Math

They ask questions about Linux/OS, DSA, etc.
Expect some question on quant and math also.
Finally, questions on relevant projects/interns (e.g. SQL, stock price modelling) on your resume will be asked.

At the end of the interview, you may be asked some general HR questions
E.g. Tell me about yourself, why this job?, etc.

Preparation Material
 Courses on ML,DL, PCA, DSA from institute or online
 Engineering mathematics (Probability, linear algebra) etc

General Suggestions:
Answer confidently what you know. Tell them clearly that you have no idea about the question asked in case
you have not taken the particular subject.
If there is nothing much on your resume, most of the questions will be from courses that you had taken. But if
there are some good projects and/or interns on your resume, questions will be based on that

Also, They won‟t expect you to provide any white paper code for any of the questions they ask. You just have
to give them your solution design and drawbacks and improvisations to the method

Exit options:
 MBA in finance
 Higher studies in CS or Data science
 Other profiles like quantitative traders, quantitative researchers, Investment Bankers, Portfolio
managers, Hedge Fund managers etc. (if you want to stay in Finance)

Also, W3Schools or tutorialspoint can get you started with basic Java."

Test suggestions:
Sometimes math related problems may take up time even though they're pretty easy. You need to do some
practice in advance.

Number of people who got selected from the test: Around 100

GD: Yes

Duration of the GD: 30 mins

GD Topics: Growth of the company, Application of Artificial Intelligence in Alcohol beverage industry.
Number of people in the GD:
There were 8 groups with 12 people each. 2 were selected from each group.

Suggestions for the GD:

GD rounds will be HR, you need to know about the company (strong point). You need to tell them how much
you know about them. Also, be enthusiastic. The points you explain should connect with the question.
Make them believe that you are culturally fit for the firm

Number of rounds of Interview: 2-4

Types of interview rounds:

The first three rounds - group based HR rounds. In each round, they asked about relevant stories from
experience in IITM. These questions were mainly aimed at understanding how good of a team-player we were,
how we handled certain situations and how we got along with seniors and juniors during our time in Insti.
The fourth round, (which was supposed to be a one-on-one interview, became yet another group interview due
to time constraint.) We were given cases to solve, asked technical questions which were more for Management
roles than Tech roles and were asked questions based on our Resume."

Preparation material used for the interview:

AnalyticsVidya blogs, Introduction to machine learning, Heard on the street
Your very own Resume. Make sure you have a story for each and every point, a story which you can talk about
for at least 3-5 minutes with details.

out on our knowledge of the company.

Suggestions for the interview:

It’s mostly personal so be prepared to answer anything from your resume. Be interactive, have a positive
attitude and a smile on your face and be charming with your stories. They want to be impressed by your stories
and your experiences, not your technical expertise.
Also, have a good reason as to why you want to become a Data Scientist.

right answers.

Throughout both the rounds the interviewers were constantly observing my approach to solve any puzzles or
questions asked by them. Hence my suggestion would be do not do any mind calculations. Whatever you are

Round 2 - technical
Round 3 - HR
First round was basic aptitude test primarily focusing on your speed while approaching problems (puzzles,
quantitative questions). The questions in this round were fairly easy. This was only about 15-20 mins.
In the second round, the focus was more on the resume. Be prepared to answer in depth question on things
mentioned in the resume. A couple of moderate to difficult level puzzles, quantitative questions and business
acumen questions were also asked in this round.
Third round was HR. This was fairly straight forward and you would find it easy if you have prepared the
standard set of questions well enough.
Rather than looking at your knowledge on data analytics, the panel focused on testing the quantitative aptitude,
approach to a given problem and ability to learn quickly."

Preparation material used for the interview:

Geeks for geeks, YouTube, hackerrank, heard on the street for puzzles, Basic probability
, pariksha and 64 HR questions. Apart from that focus on the things mentioned in your resume.

prerequisite, problem solving, puzzles, small case study and guesstimate are given more importance.

First round: technical round with a run through technical content/ projects from the resume. Don't be surprised if
these companies ask you basic questions from your major field of Engineering. They do this to check if you are
good in what you have doing for the last 4/5 years. Technical questions in ML included writing loss functions,
explaining regularization and in general basics of major ML techniques.
Second round: HR round

Preparation material used for the interview:

Interview was stressed on resume. Be thorough with resume especially projects and internships.
Prepare answers for important questions from 64 hr questions book.

Suggestions for the interview:

Learn about what the company does to answer questions like why Citibank and what do you know about
Citibank and banking sector.
Treat the interview as a conversation and keep the interviewers involved. It is not a monologue where you keep
talking for 2 minutes or more. It is always suggested to stay calm but unfortunately it is easier said than done.
At the least, don't show the nervousness and panic in the interview.
Take your time to think and answer
Be confident. I cannot stress this enough! Citi loves confident people. But make sure you build a story to back
your confidence in all the skills you talk about in the interview. Making statements that you cannot back up is
not advisable. They poke around your resume and question you enough to know whether you are bluffing.

solving skills, especially your approach. The questions were very simple case studies and guesstimates. Since
I had data science experience there were data-science based case questions. They also asked very simple
puzzles.

Preparation material used for the interview:

Just watched some YouTube videos on how to approach guesstimate and simple case-based problems.
Reviewed the puzzles in GeeksforGeeks website.

Suggestions for the interview:

Just be confident and clearly explain your approach even if you don't have a clear solution. Prepare for
questions like "Why EXL?" , "Why analytics? Why not your core?". Browse through their website and find some
projects/whitepapers which you can relate to your profile to construct the answer. Be confident about anything
you include in your resume.

Myntra
Data Analyst

JD
Data analysts are a part of Business Insights, category planning, customer experience, revenue operations,
marketing and supply chain teams focused on specific functions or initiatives. They work closely with various
business functions to enable data driven problem solving and decision making.

In a large ecommerce company such as Myntra where direct interaction with customers and associates is
limited, data is often the only source of truth and therefore plays a key role in performance measurement and
decision making. Data analysts work on three broad types of problems to enable this -

Descriptive - problems involving performance measurement, setting up meaningful metrics, granularity,

visualization and benchmarking for various business functions
Investigative - design of experiments, determining success of experiments or initiatives; hypothesis testing,
deep dive analysis around specific events or observable trend changes
Predictive or Prescriptive - deeper level of problem solving using statistical, machine learning or operations
research techniques to generate estimates, forecasts or recommendations for better planning or goal
achievement within business functions

Data analysts should have a flair for structured problem solving and are typically skilled on SQL, Python, R and
other applications that handle big data. They should also possess good applied knowledge of commonly used
statistical concepts, machine learning and operations research techniques.

CAT materials will be more than useful and sufficient for placement tests
Heard on the street, 50 questions in probability will be a good starting point. And give a lot of mock test on
online platforms like pariksha or amcat etc. it will help you to be fast and accurate
Be thorough with algorithms and data structures. This is good for any company.
Number of people who got selected from the test:
15 for direct interview and 15 on wait list

GD: No

Number of rounds of Interview: 2-3

Types of interview rounds:

About us

Founded in 2014 and listed among the world’s top emerging businesses, RIVIGO is writing the future of

operational excellence.

Through the relay model, we have fundamentally changed the truck driver’s job from a ‘months-away-from-

kms) and return to their families the same day, thus initiating a huge cycle of social change.

Our customers leverage 50-70% reduction in transit time and 100% precision and reliability to reinvent their
business models – by serving new markets, reducing inventory and significantly cutting costs. With ground-
breaking technology solutions and advanced data analytics, we are a unique logistics network that aspires to
be India’s largest new age logistics platform. We are contributing to building the new India by defining the next-
generation trucking industry with accurate predictions, elevated levels of efficiency, simple automated
operations, and by making logistics human.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluate business processes, analyze areas for improvement, and developing and implement solutions for
the same
• Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies
• Stay up-to-date on the latest process and tech advancements to automate and modernize systems.
• Drive improvement projects and ensure the adoption of processes on the ground
• Be data driven and gather key insights from the overall data
• Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports.
• Working closely with business leaders and cross functional teams to drive projects
• Ensure timelines are met and projects meet the desired execution at pace
• Manage projects, develop project plans, and monitor performance
• Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements
• Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users
• Manage competing resources and priorities
• Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects

What We Need

Education:
• BE / BTech from Tier 1 campus
• Knowledge of advance excel, SQL
• Knowledge of Python (preferred & not mandatory)

Selection process:
CGPA cut-off: None

Test: Yes

Test duration: 1 hr.

Sections in test:
Aptitude, Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension type questions and a Case Study where you had a situation in
hand and you could only ask 20 questions to get the solution to that situation.

Test preparation:
Used time study material for aptitude, verbal reasoning and comprehension. For the case study, use Day 1.0 or
Case In Point or any other Case book provided by the placement team.

Test Suggestions:
Speed and accuracy is important. You need to be sure of your calculations and be thorough with the concepts
involved for most of the questions as you will have very little time to sit and reason out the logic for each and
every question.
For the case study question, make sure you have a proper flow of questions in mind before you start
exhausting them and take notes instead of following the chain in your head for clarity and more insights.

GD: No

Number of rounds of Interview: 2

Types of interview rounds:

The first round was a technical round with a mixture of everything, with more emphasis on the case study. It will
be easy if you focus on the questions given by the allotted mentors from the firm. Keeping good contact with
the mentor helps in the interview process.
The second round was a HR type round with emphasis on getting to know the candidate and ask him situation-
based questions to understand his mindset."
"Round 1: It was a technical round which focused on my problem solving skills and my approach towards its
specific solution.

Preparation material used for the interview:

Once again, a lot of emphasis on Case studies. Also solve the puzzles from Herd on the Street and other
resources provided by the Placement team.
The preparation of the interview was mostly done through the interaction with the mentor from the firm.
Problem solving was done through guesstimates available online and the correct thought process of problem
can also be improved through few case solving examples.
The HR round was prepared through the questions available online, I prepared a google doc with 50-60 HR
questions and their personalized answers. This process helped me to gain control over the common questions
and to be fluent during the interview about myself. I prepared the lists of the achievements or stories which I
wanted to speak about during the interview. "

Suggestions for the interview:

In the first round, I was asked to outline the methods to increase the profits of a hospital chain. It was a domain
I had little idea about, but I kept probing for more information till I had components which could help me frame a
story. The case went on for about half an hour, which was followed by a puzzle and resume questions.
A few pointers:
- Have a story for every point mentioned on your resume.
- Try to be as expressive as possible while thinking through a problem or case. The interviewer needs to
understand your thought process to judge you.
- It is okay to ask for a moment to think rather than blurt out something under the pressure of the clock.
- Have a very good reason for joining Rivigo. This is a must and if you don't have one, just make it up.
- Keep asking questions to get new data relevant to the case. Make sure the questions unlock new data and is
not repetitive.

Exit options out of the company:

You are going to be a Business Analyst without actually doing an MBA, so I would say you can go for pretty
much any job, from Consulting at McKinsey to a Data Scientist at Microsoft. The founders have good contacts
and the IITM Alumni Network will also surely help.

ZS in India ranks 13 in the Dream Companies to Work for list by Times Ascent and WHRD
ZS Recognized as a Top 10 Analytics Solution Provider

Selection process:
CGPA cut-off: None

Test: None. There was a 2 day competition through which people get shortlisted for the interviews.

Sections asked: Only one problem statement which was a Data Analytics Case and we had to use Machine
Learning techniques to arrive at the solution.

Preparation:
Through data science platforms like Kaggle and the ML course offered in insti
Participated in few analytics competitions.

Test Suggestions:
It was a pretty easy ML application unlike the hackathons conducted by companies. (Even ZS has a hackathon
through which they recruit people for the Data Science Associate profile. This takes place much earlier)

GD: No

Number of rounds of Interview: 3

Types of interview rounds:

All three rounds were technical. The first is called a case interview where we are supposed present the solution
given by us during the 2 day competition. The second round was a technical interview and the final round was
a telephone interview by one of the project managers. All the rounds were very technical and they looked for
depth to which we understand ML algorithms. They gave us small scenarios and asked us on how we would
approach the problem, how do we choose an appropriate ML model and why. I believe one can answer these
questions only if they have taken part in ML hackathons and have hands on experience in implementing these
algorithms. Knowledge through taking a course would help but hands on experience is recommended. I didn't
have any HR round or puzzle, everything was about Data science and ML.

Suggestions for the interview:

Be confident, whatever you are saying. If you haven't worked on any algorithm just say it.

Exit options out of the company:

ZS being a consulting firm gives us good exposure to the industry. Most of ZS's clients are from the Pharma
industry. Since the company has a very data driven approach to solving problems and expects the consultants
to have deep technical knowledge, we can develop multiple skill sets along with being technically sound. I
believe we can move out to any industry for a senior Data Science role after some time in ZS.
Other options are MBA, other consulting firm or data analytics firm.
