other.”
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Solidad layed there, in their bed feeling cold tonight and desperately
tried to burrow in her blankets to trying find warmth at these sheet.”
Solidad: “It’s not the same, these blankets weren’t as warm nor was it as comfortable as
Pedro”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “At nights like these were when her husband, Pedro, would be the one
she would cling on to keep her warm. But tonight, was different, and if she was being honest
she didn’t know if such nights would ever continue anymore. Her gaze lingered at Pedro and
she sighed”.
Solidad: “ Maybe if I close my eyes I would forget about what I did to that cursed trunk and what
it’s contents might mean for their marriage”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Life had been simple for them with their usual comforting routines and
the couple used to be like that, but now things were different. Pedro: “Dear, can you clean the
patio later? It has been gathering dirt and dust lately”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “They still followed that pattern but instead of smiles and loving gazes,
lingering accusations and doubt is what they would secretly sneak in towards each other”.
Solidad: “Of course, Pedro. If you want I could iron out your clothes for you. Lately I haven’t had
the chance to do that. You always seemed to have ironed them out already when I come”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “It was a state of cold war between the two, pushing and pulling the
tenacity of their relationship. As if like a tug of war and that who managed to pull the most would
win.”
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “ But one day, the rope they held on snapped and they just couldn’t
hold on anymore”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “A sound of plates breaking and clattering reverberated as Solidad
gazed at Pedro”.
Solidad: “Get out! get out of my sight pedro! I am sick of all of this tension, leave…please for
both of our sakes”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Pedro stared mutely and started packing his belongings. He reached
down under the bed and pulled out a small tattered journal with a keylock.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “The lock looked familiar to Solidad”.
Solidad: “What the hell is that, Pedro!”
Pedro: “It’s a journal, I just keep my financial records in here.”
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Solidad doubted Pedro’s words and pushed”.
Solidad: “Don’t take me for a fool! Give that to me”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Pedro complied and gave Solidad the journal”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “The journal was about Pedro’s past wife”.
Solidad: “I knew it, that bastard Pedro never loved me”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “But as Solidad kept on reading she saw small message near the end,
where the last pages where entirely blank”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “It was a message from Pedro”.
Pedro: “Towards my beautiful wife, Soledad. Hopefully by the time you read this I would’ve told
you everything about my past”.
Pedro: “I had not meant to hide it but I was far too afraid to admit to anything as I feared it
would shake things between us”.
Pedro: “This message will signify the start of our time together and The last few blank pages will
be the symbol that the life I share with you will be the end”.
Solidad: “I don’t understand, what did he mean with these blank pages?”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “As if answering her, Pedro’s message read as follows”.
Pedro: “They will remain blank as when our story end, I won’t be there writing about it but
instead be right here with you, my dear”.
Pedro: “That’s why this new chapter of my life will start and end with you, Solidad”.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “Tearing up as she read this, Solidad had an epiphany that she had
been to overcome with anger and was blinded from what was important.
Radio Host 2/Narrator: “She should have known that her husband had still loved her. And so,
the love between the two was rekindled and they lived happily with their lives, pasts of small
trunks and silver keys long forgotten as they look towards the future of their lives”.
