The document provides specifications for plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for a hotel project. It outlines that water will be supplied from the municipal main to an on-site storage tank, then pumped through filters and tanks to supply domestic water and maintain pressure. It describes the internal drainage system and separate rainwater drainage. It also specifies fire protection systems including hoses, wet risers, sprinklers, extinguishers, emergency lighting, and a fire alarm system.

5.4.1 Domestic cold and hot water distribution 4.1.1 From the DEWA mains, an incoming supply shall be connected to Basement RCC water torage tank. The tank shall be sized to store water for one day domestic water consumption along with the minimum fire reserve as required by the local Civil Defence Authority. Chlorination dosing system shall be provided for Basement water tank. 5.4.1.1 From the Basement water tank, the water shall be lifted to the roof GRP panel tank via lifting pumpset. This GRP sectional panel tank shall have three compartments. One for raw water, one for filtered water and one for cooled and filtered water. This water tank shall have one day storage capacity to serve the lower floors via a booster pumpset to maintain the pressure requirement of 2 bar. The raw water shall be filtered via a multi-media filtration unit with circulation pumpset and stored in the filtered water compartment. Filtered water shall be cooled via plate heat exchanger and circulation pumps and stored in cooled water compartments. 5.4.1.2 Pressure reducing station shall be provided at each floor level where the pressure exceeds 2 bars. 5.4.1.3 Hot water supply to all toilets and kitchens shall be via a central hot water storage electric calorifiers. Hot water circulating pumps shall be provided at the hot water return piping, to circulate the water and keep the hot water temperature constant at all the branches upto the draw off point. Cold water feed to calorifiers shall be softened via a duplex online softener. Hot water shall be stored at 60 °C. Cold water line shall be provided for mixing with hot water line via a mixing valve with a temperature sensor, in case of lower temperature is required. Thermostat mixing valves can also be provided for showers in Hotel bathrooms to maintain the required temperature (part of sanitary fittings not in MEP scope of work). 5.4.2 Metering: One main Water meter shall be provided at the incoming DEWA supply to the Basement water ank. 5.4.3 Landscape / irrigation: Only water supply point with valve shall be provided as per the requirements of Landscape Consultant (Irrigation is not in MEP scope of work). 5.4.4 Swimming pool: Only water supply point with valve shall be provided. Swimming pool design shall be by the specialist supplier (not in MEP scope of work). 5.4.5 Drainage Services: 4.5.1 All works shall be designed and installed in accordance with BS 5572 Code of Practice for sanitary work and to the satisfaction of the local Drainage Department. 5.4.5.1 The internal drainage system shall comprise of two stacks (soil and waste) with a separate vent pipe. All drainage pipes from the building shall be discharged into a manhole and connected to Dubai Municipality sewage network. 5.4.5.2 A separate rain water system shall be designed to collect surface water from roof of building, and discharged free at ground floor level outside the building. Surface water from carparking levels shall be collected in a sumppit in the lower Basement and lifted to a pressure breaking manhole via sump pumps. 5.4.5.3 Floor drain shall be provided in all bathrooms, kitchens and mechanical plant room. 5.4.5.4 Ablution hose with spray shall be provided adjacent to each WC in all bathrooms. 5.4.5.5 Grease separator shall be provided for the drain pipe from commercial kitchens prior to connection to sewage network. Grease separator shall be located in the Basement floor. 5.4.5.6 Swimming pool backwash line shall be connected to a pressure break tank with a holding capacity of 5 – 8 minutes prior to connecting the line to waste stack. 5.4.5.7 Drainage piping from commercial kitchens shall be in HDPE withstanding high temperature. Other drainage pipes shall be in uPVC. 5.4.5.8 Drainage pipework in hotel floor levels and those crossing above corridors / rooms Pn apartment floPr levels shall Pe silent pipes Po reduce the waPer noise level Pn the pipes. 5.4.5.9 CondensatePdrain from AC units shall be connected via U-trap to the nearest floor drain or waste stack. 5.5.0 LPG System No LPG system is proposed in this project. 5.6.0 Fire Detection And Protection Services 5.6.1 System Design All systems shall be designed in accordance with the requirements as set out in NFPA and to the requirements of the Local Civil Defence Authority. The various systems recommended for this project are: a) Automatic fire hose reels. b) Wet riser with landing valves for use by the fire brigade personnel. c) Automatic Water Sprinkler system d) Fire extinguishers. e) Fire alarm system. f) Emergency lighting. 5.6.2 System Description 5.6.2.1 Automatic Fire Hose Reels This system shall primarily be for use by the occupants and used as a first aid means of fighting a fire whilst awaiting the arrival of the Local Fire Brigade. Fire hose reels of 30m hose length shall be located such that these are readily accessible and that these can cover all areas of the building with no part being more than 6meters from the hose reel nozzle when the hose is uncoiled. The hose reels shall be connected to the combined fire pump set for sprinklers and wet riser. 4 hose reel cabinets shall be located in each typical floor level. 5.6.2.2 Wet Riser with Landing Valves This system shall be provided solely for use by the fire service personnel and shall consist of two 150mm dia. pipes rising vertically up the building with two hydrant valve outlets on each typical floor located at staircase landing and one at roof level. The wet riser shall be connected to the combined fire pump set. 5.6.2.3 Combined Fire pump set Two electrical main pumps (duty / standby) and one jockey pump linked to the standby generator of the building shall keep the wet riser and sprinkler system pipe work pressurized for instantaneous Availability of water. This pump set shall be located in the pump room at Basement floor. 5.6.2.4 Inlet breaching connection Two way inlet breaching connection shall be provided at external wall of ground floor near to external road to allow fire brigade to pump water into the basement water tank. 5.6.2.5 Automatic Sprinkler System The complete project shall be provided with an automatic sprinkler installation, classified and designed in accordance to NFPA 13 rules for automatic sprinkler installation. The sprinkler installation shall be connected to the combined fire pump set, located in Basement floor which shall be continuously maintained under pressure. Fusible sprinkler heads shall be provided at intervals as recommended by NFPA regulations. In the event of a fire, the heat generated shall cause the fusible element in the adjacent sprinkler head to disintegrate and thus allow water to be discharged onto the fire in the form of a fire spray. At the same time as water is discharged onto the fire, water shall also be allowed to flow to a water turbine which in turn shall operate an alarm gong thus giving an audible alarm that the system has operated. The system shall also be interfaced with the fire alarm panel in order to actuate fire alarm bells in a fire situation. 5.6.2.6 Fire Extinguishers Portable Fire extinguishers CO2 and dry powder shall be provided in each fire cabinet and in service rooms to the satisfaction of the local Civil Defence Authority. 5.6.2.7 Emergency Lighting System 5.6.2.8 The Central Battery Emergency Lighting System will be provided to service the complete building.
