II. Solve the following problems

1. Abigail sells rice to stores. She has a total of 125 cavans that she plans to distribute to
three stores. If she gives 1/5 of what she has to store A, can she divide the remaining
equally to stores B and C? How many will store A and store B get?
2. Bobby cuts a piece of wood into 3 pieces if the same length. After he cuts off 2 feet from
one of the pieces, he is left with a piece that is 5 feet long. What is the length of the piece
of wood he started with?
3. Cezar used nails, screws, and pegs to build a model house. He used twice as many screws
as pegs and 2 fewer nails than screws. He used 15 nails. How many pegs did he use?
4. A three story mansion has two more windows on the second floor than on the first floor
and twice as many windows on the second floor as to the third floor. There are nine
windows on the third floor. How many windows are there on the first floor?
5. Abigail is preparing for the baptism of Gabrielle .She bought five dressed chicken weighing
1 3/4, 2 1/8, 1 2/3, and 1 1/2 kilograms each, respectively.
a) What is the total weight of the chicken?
b) At P 75.00 per kilogram, how much will she have to pay for the five dressed chicken?
c) If she gave the seller two P500 bills, how much change is due her?
6.Bernadette cuts a piece of fabric into four pieces of the same length. After she cuts off 3
feet from one of the pieces , she is left with a piece that 2 feet long. What is the length of
the piece of fabric she started with?
7. Audrey needs 95 kilograms of potatoes. She 12 bags. There are three 5 kilogram bags. The
rest are 10 kilogram bags. How many 10 kilogram bags are there? What part of the 95
kilograms of potatoes are 5 kilogram bags? 10 kilogram bags?
8.The 4J partnership earned a net profit of P 28,000.00. The partners Jed, Joshua, Janine,
and John share profits and losses: ¼ for Jed, 2/8 for Joshua, 2/6 for Janine, and the rest
for John. Compute for the share of the partners in the net profit.
9. Joeylyn worked 24 hours last week for landscape. She worked 1/3 of those hours planting
flowers and ½ of those hours mowing lawns. How many hours did Joeylyn work planting
flowers? Mowing the lawn? If she paid P10.00 per hour, how much did she earn?
10. A tract of land containing 62 ½ acres was divided into smaller lots of 1 ¼ acres each. Into
how many smaller lots the tract of land divided?
