Introduction

Background of the Study:

Today computers and the Internet, has become an important element in the life of people
around the world.
The young generation use those technological advances at incredibly faster and more
successful rate than previous generations. One of the main reasons, is that they were born
in the present world where the world’s most vast information library is available for any
free anywhere any time. We call it the internet. The internet is not just the web.
According to Wikipedia :
The internet is the global system of interconnected mainframe, personal, and wireless
computer networks that use the internet to protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link billions of
devices worldwide. It is a network of computers that consist of millions of private,
public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope, linked by
a broad array of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies.

The internet carries an extensive range of information resources and services, such as the
inter-linked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW),
electronic mail, Usenet newsgroups, telephony, and peer-to-peer networks for file
sharing.
The web is just part of the internet, email is just a part of the internet, p2p networks is
just a part of the internet, cloud computing, etc.
Now let’s discuss cloud computing.

provides shared processing resources and data to computers and other devices on
demand. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of
configurable computing resources.
Basically it’s a shared Infrastructure/Application/Platform slash resources.

Moore’s law is the observation that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit
doubles approximately every two years.
And computers as we know is composed of millions if not billions of transistor. Which
affects the performance and the price.
We now have free Internet, and computers get cheaper.
The internet in the Philippines has been undergoing development since it was first made
available in 1994. As of September 30, 2011, more than 30,000,000 people used the
internet in the country accounting for 33% of the total population.
The problem is, public schools are still using the old, manual way of getting their grades
that take days, weeks or month to finish if the teachers is not around. With the proper
help of the free Internet and cheaper computer, we decided to develop a system that will
aid Saguday National High School to transition into more advance computerized Grade
Viewing System.

Purpose of the System

This Application will help the students to view their grades easily not taking
so long.
Description of the System
This application shows the information of students and their grades during the after the
semester of after the school year and their absences.
This system also has SMS Technology that notifies parents about the examination date,
Date of School programs, dates of no classes, and it can also send message to them about
the amount they paid for the tuition fee before the examination day. Parents can also use
this application in case of the system has no load for the SMS Technology By
downloading the application and log in as Parent and use the name of their son/daughter
Name and their Year Level and strand for Senior High Students. For Junior level they
will just use the Name and the Year Level.
For teachers, Teachers will log in as a teacher and create a class advisory named by the
class year level, class section. For Senior high they will include their strand. Teachers can
input the grades of the students here easily.
For students, By logging in using their School ID number and their full name then search
and join to the class advisory their Teacher created. Then the application will display the
grades of the student in the semester or after the school year.
This system also comes with online enrolment for easier way of enrolling.

Objectives of the Project

The main objective of the study is to develop an Online Grade Viewing Application for
students of Saguday National High School, and to develop an accurate and easier way of
getting grades for the students of the school.
