CONTENT STANDARD: The learner realize the rigors of crafting one’s speech
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner proficiently deliver various speeches using the principles
I OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson the Grade 11 students are expected to:
a. distinguish types of speeches (EN11/12OC-llab23);
b. differentiate the different types of speeches according to purpose; and
c. portray a role play using the different types of speech.

Why do people communicate?
What is the purpose of communication?
LESSON PROPER
ACTIVITY 1
Teacher groups the students into 4 and will be asked to arrange the puzzled pictures
assigned to each group.
The teachers will give them 2 minutes to finish the task and later present the picture
infront of the class.
ANALYSIS
Based on the activity, what is the difference between the pictures?
What does each picture represent?
What is the purpose of the speech shown in the pictures?
ACTIVITY 2
Students are grouped into 4 and each group is tasked to brainstorm and explain the
different types of speech according to purpose. (Gallery Walk)
ABSTRACTION
Teacher calls students to point out the significance of knowing the different types of
speech according to purpose to our lives.
Teacher emphasizes salient points on the nature of speech purpose in communication.
APPLICATION:
Teacher asks students to distinguish the purpose of the speech use in the situations
given.
1V EVALUATION
The students are asked to perform a role play of different situations using the different
types of speech according to purpose.
Teacher uses a rubric to evaluate the performance (Role play rubric attached).
V ASSIGNMENT:
The students are asked to interpret a quote by George Jessel in preparation for the next
lesson.
“The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you
stand up to speak in public.”
