ABSTRACT

The Rodriguez municipality envisions “A scenic verdant town of God-fearing and

empowered citizens with leaders who are competent and morally-upright, united to enjoy and
share the benefits of sustainable economic growth in harmony with Nature.” With this, the
municipality of Rodriguez being guided by their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) has
chosen the Link-Nodes Development as a spatial strategy which promotes interconnectedness
among land uses.

The purpose of this research study is to address possible issues and provide solutions;
showing opportunities and strength in-line to the strategy of inter connection among lands.

The Linear Greenway will be one of the main road access to pass through Rodriguez and
also an asset to promote eco-tourism, economic advantages, social and environmental
considerations that will lead to a sustainable community through the Recreational Park which
will be located in Barangay San Jose beside the river. The facility or asset will feature
recreational sports program along with life style educational, transport or business activities
that serve the needs of the community. The Recreational Park would also provide multi-
functional space for informal recreation, competitive intramural sports, fitness activities, life
wellness programs and spaces for variety of activities like picnic, a concert, or a farmer’s market
– whatever the community feels it needs.

The design would incorporate innovative green technologies, including energy

conservation, water management and abundant natural lighting, waste management in
accordance with the municipality ordinances, regulations, standards, legislations and the like to
have best outcome of sustainable community.
RATIONALE

Recreational Park provides opportunities for physical activity that can help all people to make an active
lifestyle. To some extent, it turns out parks are a crucial part of any community. They have significant
impact on the development of children and the happiness of everyone in the neighbourhood. Park is
place of natural, semi-natural or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the
protection of wildlife or natural habitats.

CONTENT

Design Solution:

 Linear Green Way with a proposed recreational park shall be organic in design in
correlation to the character of the location.
 The Linear Green Way will serves as an environmental utility for vehicular purposes
while maintaining its use and not affecting the environment, but connecting space
between spaces.
 Planning, design and construction of the project conforms to all relevant standards,
regulation, acts, legislations, ordinance/s, codes of practice and best practice guidelines,
as current at the time of approval.

Analysis:

 The Linear Greenway will serve as a direct path to Rodriguez, Rizal that can make the
location to be accessible and interconnected into different municipalities.
 It will lift up the economy of its municipality as it opens new development and
opportunity for the areas/ spaces along the Linear Greenway.
 The Linear Greenway can make Rodriguez, Rizal to be legible and easy to navigate that it
takes a direct path to the municipality of Rodriguez.
 The proposed recreational park can reduce the urban heat island effect. Strategic
planting of trees and vegetation can reduce the warmer temperatures and excess
waters due to rain.
 In terms of socialization, the project serve as a great space for events and for people to
engage in recreational activities which will allows them to develop a sense of
community. The proposed recreational park is perfect for a picnic, a concert, or a
farmer’s market – whatever the community feels it needs.
 Synthesis:

To create a Recreational Park to provide many opportunities for physical activity to provide
many opportunities for physical activity that can help all people to make an active lifestyle.
People who live near parks are more likely to be active, and this is especially true when parks
have features such as trails, landscapes and walkways. People are also more likely to visit and be
active in parks that are safe and well-maintained. Making recreational park more accessible in
Rizal is a simple strategy yet it may have a huge impact for increasing physical activity to its
surrounding community.

IMPLEMENTATION

The Problem:

 Security
o The site could be prone to any anomalies such as crime and even loiterers.
 Lightings
o Not enough lighting during nigh along the road going to the site.
 Access
o Lack of transport and accessibility on the site. Terminal is far distant from the
site.

The Solution:

 Have designated personnel like guard, police or a barangay tanod present at the site.
Make request to the municipality for an outpost for the security personnel.
 Provide CCTV’s at the site for better security.
 Request and provide for the line of electricity for street lights that will be enough for the
road going to the site.
 Provide path ways and transport like cab, tricycle’s or e-bikes designated to the site for
easy access of people whenever they going in and out of the area.

EXPECTED IMPACT

The Product:

 Walk ways – provides safety, mobility and prevent pedestrian crashes.

 Landscapes – it gives attractions, beauty, interest, even love of the view and aesthetic
background.
 Recreational Park – making the surrounding community livelier, healthy and preserves
air quality.
 Perks of the park and to its surrounding community:

 Provision of parks, open spaces and protected natural environment, recreation

contributes to the environment health of our community.
 Families that play together, stay together. Parks and recreation programs are a means
to provide families opportunities to spend important quality time together to build
strong family bond.
 Parks enhance property values, contribute to health and make communities desirable
places to live, work, play and visit.
 Parks are an essential ingredient for enhancing the liveability of a city and improving
quality of life for its residents.
 Provide an array of social, health, economic and environmental benefits to individuals
and to the community as a whole.
