Narrative Report on PEAC INSET Seminar conducted last April 27 – 30, 2018 at Father Saturnino Urios
University, Morelos Campus Butuan City

My assigned subject is Media and Information Literacy (MIL). Our speakers are Sir Jade Alfie Villanueva Sale
and Sir Paul Flores they both came from Xavier University Cagayan de Oro City.

Day 1

Morning Session
 We had a recapitulation of the lessons we have discussed last year and give us the revised version of
Alignment Classroom Instruction Delivery (ACID Plan) to Classroom Instruction Development Alignment
Map (CIDAM)
 They reintroduced to us the basic concepts of these two plans since majority of the attendees are new to the
subject MIL.
 They give us also the materials like the copy of Curriculum guide, photo copies of the topics that we have
discussed for the entire session. In addition, they discussed also the parts of teaching guide which comprises
of Introduction, Motivation, Instruction/ Delivery, Practice, Enrichment and Evaluation.

Afternoon Session
 In the afternoon, our speakers introduced to us KUD or Knowledge, Understanding and Doing. In the
Revise Blooms Taxonomy (RBT) Knowledge falls on understanding and remembering, understanding falls
on analyzing and applying, for Doing is creating and evaluating. In Enabling general strategy Knowing is
Representation, Understanding is Communication and connection, Doing is problem solving and reasoning.
 After discussing about KUD classifications our speakers let us practice making CIDAM plan to test how
far did we learn from the discussion. We were evaluated in the end session of the first day.

Day 2

Morning Session
 Demo teaching from our speakers. In this time, they show us how to manage and deal with learners of 21st
century. Since our subject is MIL they said that to get their attention we must built ourselves with the
essential keys to arouse student’s interest. Moreover, a way to appease students is by strategy being used.
This is very important in all aspects of teaching., this will serve as the “aliw” factor of the entire class. A
fun and creative classroom discussion will surely be in the minds of the learners.
 Since its MIL its should be anchored with multimedia, audio and visual representations that’s why second
factor to make a MIL class be effective is to have series of presentation that has something to do with
multimedia. A collaborative effort in this matter will surely lead students to a better mind setting of the true
essential of this subject.

Afternoon Session
 Since we were shown some techniques and strategies to have a demo teaching. Our speakers let us construct
our “teaching guide” this will serve us our guide in handling our class to our students. They give us ample
time to make teaching guide. Teaching guide should have the full details of the things that should be done
for a given time. Strategies and methods must be followed and off course the activities should be anchored
to the lesson given. However, in making activities rubrics should be given in order to meet the standards in
that particular lesson.

Day 3

 We had representatives from different groups to have a demo teaching. Before this happen, our speakers
give us the 5 essential lessons of MIL. These are Media and Information Sources, Media and Information
Literate Individual, Media and Information Languages, Opportunities, challenges, and power of media and
information. Multimedia. They believe that if the above-mentioned topics were discussed it means you have
given the learners the essential things that they should know about Media and Information Literacy.
