Notesletter no.1979 dt.7.07.2005.
1 All dimensions are in mm and R.L. are in metres.
2 Concrete in trough and pier cap will be of M-20 grade.
3 All steel reinforcement of grade Fe 415 conforming to IS : 1786.
4 For ensuring proper cover between concrete and steel reinforcement, specially made polymer
cover block / steel chairs be used.
5 The concreting operation shall be carried out continuously upto the construction joint.
6 Reinforcement cover,laps etc shall conform to IS 456 : 2000.
7 In pier cap 8 mm dia bars @ 200 mm c/c in both ways are to be provided at top and bottom.
7 Bending of reinforcement bars shall be as per IS : 2502.
8 Adequate precaution shall be taken against leakage by providing water bars, water proofing
compound
9 Copper strips 500mm wide and 1.5mm th.shall be embedded in trough walls and base slab at
construction joint of trough spans carefully by brazing so as to form continuous water tight
diaphragm.
10 12 MM Thick bitumen joint filler sheet (Bitumen Cake) conforming to IS : 1838 shall be provided
in two trough joints.
11 As per IS code 7784 (part ii section 3) suitable guide banks shall be constructed to guide river
water smoothly near the aqueduct.
12 As per per data supplied by field officers , H.F.L. of drain is at 150.94 mt and the bottom level of
canal trough slab is coming out to be at RL 151.08 mt.Thus clear level difference between HFL
and invert level of trough is 0.14 mt.which is less than the requirement of 1mt. For this bed of
drain needs to be depressed and paved the floor so that the flood in the drain can be passed
without heading up of water in the upstream of aqueduct as such.Necessary provisions may be
kept in the estimate also.
13 The pier is having semi circular shape in both faces beyond trough along drain having dia 0.75
mt.at top and 1.23 mt.at RL 148.00
14 No dimension shall be directly measured from the drawing.
15 SBC of soil has been assumed as 25.00 t/sqm. And silt factor as 1.25 . Soil tests are to be
carried out at pier locations and ensure the assumed parameters otherwise design is to be
modified accordingly.
16 The deepest nallah level has to be avoided while locating piers.
17 Suitable u/s & d/s transitions joining canal & trough are to be provided as per site.
18 Corner champering trough 75 mm in horizontal & vertical and also provide nominal
reinforcement 8mm dia @ 200 mm c/c of required length.

vide letter no.1979 dt.7.07.2005.
Notes
1 All dimensions are in mm and R.L. are in metres.
2 Concrete in trough and pier cap will be of M-20 grade.
3 All steel reinforcement of grade Fe 415 conforming to IS : 1786.
4 For ensuring proper cover between concrete and steel reinforcement, specially made polymer
cover block / steel chairs be used.
5 The concreting operation shall be carried out continuously upto the construction joint.
6 Reinforcement cover,laps etc shall conform to IS 456 : 2000.
7 Bending of reinforcement bars shall be as per IS : 2502.
8 Adequate precaution shall be taken against leakage by providing water bars, water proofing
compound
9 Copper strips 500mm wide and 1.5mm th.shall be embedded in trough walls and base slab at
construction joint of trough spans carefully by brazing so as to form continuous water tight
diaphragm.
10 12 MM Thick bitumen joint filler sheet (Bitumen Cake) conforming to IS : 1838 shall be
provided in two trough joints.
For this bed of
drain to be depressed and paved the floor so that the flood in the drain can be passed without
heading up of water in the upstream of aqueduct as such.Necessary provisions may be kept in
the estimate also.

13 The pier is having semi circular shape in both faces along drain having dia 0.75 mt.at top and
1.23 mt.at RL 148.00
14 No dimension shall be directly measured from the drawing.
15 SBC of soil has been assumed as 25.00 t/sqm. And silt factor as 1.25 . Soil tests are to be
carried out at pier locations and ensure the assumed parameters otherwise design is to be
modified accordingly.
16 The deepest nallah level has to be avoided while locating piers.
17 Suitable u/s & d/s transitions joining canal & trough are to be provided as per site.
