BBSI STUDENT CONTRACT

SUBJECT: Facilitating Learner –Centered Teaching/ Field Study 2

TERM: Second Semester
ACADEMIC YEAR: 2018-2019

GRADING SYSTEM

Class Participation & Activity/Recitation/Reporting/Gallery Walk

Classroom participation is an excellent opportunity for each student to develop verbal/debate
skills, as well as enhance his/her grade, a high level of classroom discussion is dependent upon
students’ having done their homework the previous night, upon reading handouts provided in
class, and upon their making an honest effort to participate. Meaningful discussion cannot take
place unless each student arrives on time for class. In addition to taking accurate notes, students
are encouraged to listen to one another’s response, so they can further the discussion by refuting,
qualifying or concurring with their peers. Conversely, any behavior that adversely affects the
class discussion (e.g. distracting other students) will have an adverse effect of this component
grade.

Seatwork/Quizzes/Homework
Seat works will be given daily with few exceptions. Informed classroom discussion cannot take
place unless the student satisfactorily completes homework consistently, and on time. Also,
classroom tests/quizzes are based upon homework and class work. The nightly completion of
homework provides each student with necessary information and skills insuring optimal
performance and minimizing anxiety. Students will USUALLY be given a 24-hour grace period
to hand in late seat work. After that time, late seatwork will not be accepted without a written
excuse from the parent/guardian.

Seatwork & homework must be given in neat, clear, concise sentences and encoded on a short
bond paper or written on a yellow paper. The following is a heading to be used on each
assignment:
Name: Date:
SW# Instructor/Subject

Reflection Paper
Creative writing is a valuable tool in helping student understand history and relate it to their
lives. Students will occasionally write short essays for homework/seatwork, recording thoughts
and responses to the material coveted in class and in the text.

Exams
There will be three full periodical tests and a minimum of two-three quizzes per semester.
Students will be informed of the format and date of each exam one week in advance (usually). As
classroom test are based solely upon the assigned homework and class discussion/board notes,
the student who has been working consistently should view them not as traumatic experiences,
but as opportunities to reinforce what she/he has learned.
Make-up exams will be given the day you return (provided you have a note explaining your
excused absence) during your lunch break.

Portfolio
Students are required to have a learning portfolio to be put on a long clear book (color will be
assigned according to subject) and to be passed before the final examination. A student
portfolio is a compilation of academic work and other forms of educational evidence assembled
for the purpose of (1) evaluating coursework quality, learning progress, and academic
achievement; (2) determining whether students have met learning standards or other academic
requirements for courses, grade-level promotion, and graduation; (3) helping students reflect on
their academic goals and progress as learners; and (4) creating a lasting archive of academic
work products, accomplishments, and other documentation.
Format for your portfolio:
 Title page
 Table of contents
 School’s Vision, Mission and Motto
 Resume
 Contents
 Reflection Paper
