BACHELOR in Secondary Education MAJOR IN Social Studies

VISION The President Ramon Magsaysay State University shall be a progressive learner-centered research
university recognized in the ASEAN Region in 2020.
MISSION The President Ramon Magsaysay State University shall primarily provide instruction, undertake research
and extension, and provide advanced studies and progressive leadership in agriculture, forestry,
engineering, technology, education, arts, sciences, humanities, and other fields as may be relevant to the
development of the Province.
GOALS OF THE Graduates of the Teacher Education Program have the ability to;
COLLEGE 1. Relate education to the larger historical, social, cultural and political processes;
2. Use wide range of teaching methodologies to effectively facilitate learning in various types of
environment;
3. Devise alternative teaching approaches for diverse learners;
4. Plan lessons with appropriate instructional materials for effective delivery and assessment of
learning outcomes;
5. Build a strong character reflecting professional and ethical teaching standards; and
6. Grow in person and in professional through the pursuit of lifelong learning.

II. Course Title The Child and Adolescent and Learning Principles
III. Course The course focuses on child and adolescent development with emphasis on current research and theory
Description on biological, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions of development. Further, this
includes factors that affect the progress of development of the learners and shall include appropriate
pedagogical principles applicable for each developmental level.

VIII. Course At the end of the semester 75% of the students have attained 80 % proficiency level:

Objectives 2. Compare and contrast, organize and synthesize the different researches and theories
related to the four broad dimensions of child and adolescent development;
3. Observe and reflect on the applicability of the theories to children and adolescents in
their ( i.e. community, regional, or Philippine) context;
4. Identify and explain the factors affecting human development;
5. Articulate and describe the principles of learning and the applicability of the learning
theories to children and adolescents in their local contexts;
6. Create understanding on exceptional developments of children and adolescents.

XV. Classroom 1. Regular attendance is required for all students. Number of absences is limited only to 20%
Policies of the total contact hour (11 hours).
2. Wearing the university student’s ID and uniform at all times is required for all the students
except when having field activities.
3. Cellular phones must be turned-off or in silent mode during classes.
4. Seat plan for large classes will be implemented.
5. Three tardiness is equivalent to one-day absence.
6. Special examination is only allowed to students with valid reason, and within 1 week after
the scheduled examination. If the student fails to take the special examination during the grace
period, he/she will incur a grade of zero on the examination.
7. Students shall abide the instructor/professor’s policy on the submission of learning outputs
based on the metrics and deadline given.
