Paperex 2017
‘Paperex’ is an internationally renowned series of
exhibitions & conferences held around the world,
focusing on Pulp and Paper Industry and held
biennially in India. It acts as a platform in projecting
and showcasing the achievements of Indian Pulp
and Paper companies not only within the country
but to the world as well. It is a proud moment to be
seen at PAPEREX. Many Deals are cracked, new
customers are made. Amongst the fantastic display
of stalls by leading Paper makers from India & other
parts of the globe, JK Paper’s stall stood out for its
innovative design excellence and a fantastic display
communicating to the mass. This year it was held
from 1st- 4th November. Our stall received a footfall of
over 3000 people per day.

Production & Sales Achievements


The Oct-Dec quarter has been a record breaking period for JK Paper. Below is the snapshot of the
achieved figures during the month of December which varied from highest sales, highest production to
highest REC(Renewable Energy certificate)sale.
• Achieved a Highest ever Total Sales of 51,800 MT
• Highest Sale from Unit JKPM of 32365 MT
• Highest Sale from Exports of 7412 MT
• Highest Sale from Outsource Business of 5551 MT
• Highest Paper Production of 39,620 MT
• Highest Dispatch in a month of 27945 MT from Unit JKPM
• Highest REC (Renewable Energy certificate) sales of 1,53,000 units
• Highest pulp production of 640 Tonnes per day from Unit JKPM in November.

Digital Video
A digital video was made on the theme of
“Let only happiness reign this diwali”
emphasizing on the importance of paper. It
was promoted during the diwali week on
social media channels like facebook &
youtube. The video received a fantastic
response on both the platforms, a reach of
26 lacs user & an total viewership of 6.31 lacs
followed by more than 2000 people sharing
our video on facebook.

Outdoor marketing-Glowsign board


Glow sign board is a cost effective way of gaining wide spread visibility and branding with a longer shelf life.
These are put at the outlets of wholesaler, dealers, stationers & jobbers at the market place.
• Installed over 150 glow sign boards in this quarter
• States Covered – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan

Flanges
As a part of Outdoor activity, JK
Paper initiated to install Flanges
at the shops of the Jobbers
registered in our India Photocopy
Club. Its a way to grab attention,
gain mindshare whenever a
person comes with a job work.
At present, 60 shops at Jobber
Level have been covered in
Delhi/NCR region, Lucknow,
Allahabad, Varanasi region
through this activity.

Communication Meeting at HO & Unit JKPM


A communication meeting by Mr. A S Mehta (President), was held on 1st January, 2018 for all the
employees of Head office and the outstation branches via Video Conferencing. The meeting started with
introduction of new joinees. President felicitated Mr. Palak Kundu as the Employee of the Quarter, which
was followed by felicitation of Badminton winners and runners up and participants of “Dronacharya –
Train the Trainer” program. He discussed about the performance of the company in the last quarter as
well as the calendar year and highlighted the challenges ahead. Suggestions from all employees were
invited by the President for improving the products, process and procedures. He further emphasised on
the importance of “Customer First” approach and suggested to all to make it the theme for the year
2018.

At unit JKPM an open forum communication meeting was addressed by Mr. P.K. Suri, EVP (Works) on
20th October, 2017 which was attended by all the employees of JKPM.

Employee of the Quarter

Mr Palak Kundu (Deputy Manager – Sales WZ) was adjudged as the Employee of the Quarter for the
quarter ending September, 2017 for giving growth of 20%+ in the quarter in his territory and developing
new dealer for Imported Coated and Maplitho.

Well Done Card at Unit JKPM
For the month of (Oct. – Dec.) employees of different department were acknowledged with well done card for
their dedication & hard work in their respective work activities.
A team of nine members comprising from departments of Security, Stores & Pulp mill have actively taken part
in unloading & rescue operation of Caustic Soda lye tanker no. AP16TB4980 which met with an accident
Near Debadola village on 1st December, 2017.
Quick alertness of Sales team helped in detecting wrong packing in a premium product like Excel Bond &
Cedar digital which was to be dispatched to one of our valuable customer thereby avoiding major
embarrassment and customer complaint.

Sharing Minds with EVP (Works) at Unit CPM


Unit CPM started a new HR initiative “Sharing Minds, a
Meeting with EVP (Works)” an intervention to further
improve Employee Engagement in the organisation.
Every month 5-6 employees from different levels meet
EVP (Works) on Coffee to have free and open sharing of
their views and feedback. From Oct-Dec’17, Unit CPM
organised 3 sessions of Sharing Minds for Executives,
Engineers, Sr. Executives, Sr. Engineers.

Market Visit at Unit JKPM


A team of 18 employees from Unit JKPM
visited Bangalore market on 5th
December, 2017 for proactive customer
interaction. They have interacted with
distributors, dealers and retailers and
received a constructive feedback from the
channel partner.

Badminton Tournament
A Badminton Tournament was organised from 4th to 8th December, 2017 for the employees at H.O. An
enthusiastic response was received from the employees. A total of 15 matches were played for Singles & 8
matches for Doubles (in the first round). After continuous Knockout matches and Semi Finals, the Final match
was held. The winners of the Badminton Tournament were the following employees:

Women’s Singles: Ms. Akriti Singh
Men’s Doubles: Mr. Gaurang Agarwal & Mr. Raghavendra Hebbar

Joy of Giving
“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”. With this motto, JK Paper Ltd. celebrated
Joy of Giving week during the week of 10th – 17th October, 2017 for Delhi based employees. All the
employees were requested to donate voluntarily as a part of this noble cause to help the weaker sections of
our society. Donations ranged from old clothes, stationary or anything that can be used in day to day life.
Employees contributed whole heartedly and the collection was given to Goonj foundation.

Family Trip to Ranthambore


A Family Trip to Ranthambore was organised for all the Delhi based
employees from 22nd – 25th December, 2017. The employees were
enthusiastic fort the trip. The leisure trip included various fun aspects like
visit to Ranthambore Fort, Cultural performances, Jungle Safari, Gala
Dinner with DJ Night etc. The trip ended with smiles on all faces and
sweet memories in all minds.

Outbound Workshop at Unit CPM


An outbound workshop for MCS was organised on 24th November, 2017
on HARMONY – Leadership & Team Building at Vansda Village,
Dandakvan Aashram. A total of 19 MCS participated from departments of
Commercial, Accounts, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Personnel & Admn,
HRD and Civil. Bond to Win (Harmony) a program was conducted at
exotic location in deep forest which helped participants to co-create a
desired vision for the team and to work together cohesively to achieve it.
It was based on the principles of appreciative enquiry and deep
conversations and dialogues. The synergy that results from working
together leads to a better solution than any of the members could have
developed alone. The program was experiential and highly interactive so
that ideas and concepts were easily grasped and retention was effective.
80% of the program was activity based and included exercises, role plays
and discussion.

Annual Sports Tournament 2017 at Unit JKPM


Manoranjan Kendra Annual sports tournament was organised on 21st
November, 2017. It was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr. S K Mohapatro,
GM (P&IR) at Manoranjan Kendra. The agenda of organising this sports
tournament was to strengthen the harmonious relationship between
employees and to make them aware of the importance of sports to lead a
healthy life. Various indoor & outdoor games were organised for the
permanent employees, contractual & casual workers, spouse of
employees & the students of LPS Public & High school. A large number
of employees took part in the tournament out of which 187 nos. of sports
participants have been awarded as winners in different categories.

Santushti
Under ‘Santushti’ we celebrate the joy of giving, all
members contribute any items as per the theme decided for
that particular month and those items are delivered to the
poor and needy. The employees also participate by
contributing their time and money towards this cause. For
the month of October, November & December, as
suggested by the President, a Special Birthday cake cutting
for 165 blind children of National Association for the Blind
was sponsored on 12th October, 24th November & 26th
December respectively celebrate to ensure the children also
get a chance to have their own Janmotsav.

Mega Medical Camp


Unit CPM organised a periodic Health check-up / Treatment / Awareness camps in 6 adopted villages and at
various other villages on pre-announced days. It has one well equipped Ambulance, dedicated doctor &
paramedical staff to undertake check-ups and provides free medicines to the needy at doorsteps.
A Mega Medical Camp in collaboration with Lion’s Club was organised at Mahal Village on 24th December
wherein 308 nos. of patients were treated. A team of specialist doctors including Cardiologist, Dentist,
Physicians and Surgeons provided their services in the Mega Medical Camp.

Tailoring Training Centre
To cater the need of the nearby community, a
tailoring training centre at JayKaypur was
inaugurated on 19th Nov by Mrs. Guha Poonam
Tapas Kumar, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate,
Rayagada in the presence of Mr. P K Suri,
EVP(Works), Mr. S K Mohapatra, GM (P & IR), Mrs.
Bela Suri, President- Mahila Mandal & Mahila Vikash
Kendra, Mrs Rupashree Mahapatra, Vice President-
Mahila Vikash Kendra and other dignitaries. 20
women and adolescent girls from Sana Chandili
village were inducted for training in tailoring. The
duration of the training is Six months. The training
will equip the trainees in women garments stitching.
Post training, they will be engaged in production of
dress materials to get regular wage in the
production centre.

Catalyst Development Initiative


Catalyst Development Training programme is an endeavor towards creating change
agents who will spearhead the development in the villages. The programme was
organised for 53 Youth (change agents) from 31 villages selected after assessing their
role in the village development process on 18th November at SC Jain Auditorium,
JayKaypur Club. Mr. S K Mohapatra, GM (P & IR) emphasized the role of change agents
in the village development & lauded the efforts of the catalysts present in the programme
during his inaugural speech. The youth were inducted as village Development motivators
in Community Development process. The programme was moderated by Sri R P Padhi,
Resource Person from National Board of Workers Education (NBWE), Government of
India through various participatory exercises and inspiring examples. The objective of this
programme is to accelerate the village Development process through these catalysts.

Adult Literacy Centre


Adult Literacy Initiative of Unit CPM continues
to spread the light of education among
women of tribal areas of Fort Songadh
Taluka. Unit CPM’s Adult Literacy Program is
quite popular among masses in Songadh’s
tribal area. A regular inspection visit at ALP
Center and monthly ALP Teachers’ review are
organized to strengthen the system. For (Oct
– Dec’17) Unit CPM has opened 4 nos. of
Adult Education Centers covering 121 Nos. of
Beneficiaries.

Mother Health Awareness Programme
Safe Motherhood is close to the heart of Unit JKPM. In live to the
some, 5 Mother Health Awareness Programmes were organised
at Ankabadi, M. Pitesh, Bheja, Ka Paguda, Sano Tadra, and
Dengsil villages of Kolnora and K. Singhpur blocks for 36
Pregnant and 43 lactating mothers through Quiz & Counseling
Programmes to sensitize on best practices relating to Pre, Post
and Neo Natal Care. The participants were also informed about
the advantages of Kitchen Garden and Various Govt. Schemes
pertaining to the health & welfare of women & child.

Adolescent Reproductive & Sexual


Health (ARSH) Programmes
Adolescence is a special and an exclusive period for those who
pass through this period. 07 Adolescent Reproductive & Sexual
Health (ARSH) Programmes were organized at K. Maligaon,
Lekapai, Ankabdi, Gadvaguda, B. Litipali, S. Tadra & Maneiguda
villages for adolescent girls. The Programme aimed at
identification and solution of issues in menstruation cycle,
anaemia, personal hygiene related to Adolescence. The Balika
Mandals of the two villages have been inspired to take the lead
in village sanitation work in their respective villages like cleaning
of platforms of bore well & open wells, village drains and water
logged areas every month.

Grocery Shop Inauguration


“Maa Tarini Grocery Shop” at Lekapai village was inaugurated by
Mr. Kapil Kaul, Advisor CSR JKPM, on 25th Oct. Mr. Trinnath Tuika,
one of the youth inspired during Youth Development Mentoring
Initiatives, has set up the Grocery Shop under complete
handholding, along with availing him with Weighing

their village once a month regularly.

Observation of World Mental
Health Day
World Mental Health Day was observed at Nutan Gyan
Vardhini, Kolnara (A special school for the mentally
challenged students) which was organised by SPARSH on
14th Oct in collaboration with Zilla Swasthya Samiti,
Rayagada. Mr. Birendra Korkara, ADM graced this occasion
as Chief Guest and Mr. P. K Suri, EVP (Works) as Guest of
Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Nilamadhva Rath, Head of the Dept. of
Mental Health Institute, SCB, Medical College Cuttack as
Chief Speaker. Dr Badradakanta Mishra Dr, I/c CDMO
presided over the meeting. The objective of the programme
was to create awareness among the people on mental
stress related to work place and how to overcome it and
help others in the work place. The mentally challenged
children of Nutan Gyanvardhini delivered three dance
programmes held the audience spell bound. An exhibition
on painting by the mentally challenged children was
inaugurated and displayed.

Training on Mushroom Cultivation


An exposure cum training on mushroom cultivation was
organised for 20 Farmers from Dunduli, Antamada,
Keutaguda, Maudiguda, Gadvaguda and Koltiguda. This
programme was organised with support from NABARD
Bhubaneswar under the Capacity Building and Adopted
Technology (CAT) scheme. The Farmers visited Kalinga
Mushroom Farm, Dandamukundapur of Puri district from
28th to 30th Dec.
During the visit, the farmers were trained on the
cultivation process of OYSTER & Paddy straw Chaiti-2017
mushrooms in the winter & summer seasons. The

Annual Sports Meet
Lakshmipat Singhania Public School, Jaykaypur, celebrated its
Annual Sports Meet on 26th October. Various sports, games and
athletic events were conducted by Mr. H.S. Patro, P.E.T where the
students took active part. Around 350 prizes and certificates were
awarded to the winners. Sandeep Karkaria of class VIII and
Anwesha Gartia of class VI were declared as the Champion in
Juniors category where as Ishak Khatua of class X and Narmada
Mallick of class XII were declared as the champions in seniors
category.

Interschool Spell Bee & Chess


Championship
Lakshmipat Singhania Public School, Jaykaypur, took the privilege
for hosting the Interschool Spell Bee competition–Season II and
Interschool Chess Championship in a large scale where 120
students from reputed schools of Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi
districts participated. It was appreciated by all the participating
schools and the dignitaries who witnessed the contest.

Victory at Science Marathon


Three students of class XII from Lakshmipat Singhania Public
School, Jaykaypur, participated in Science Marathon held in
National Institute of Science & Technology, Berhampur on 10th
Dec. All the three participants made to the finale and Miss
Pratikshya Panigrahy won the first prizes

District level badminton tournament


District administration, Rayagada organised a badminton
tournament on the eve of Chaiti, an Annual festival of
Annual Day Celebrations culture and sports. Two students of Lakshmipat
Singhania Public School, Aryaman Bala and Roshan
Lakshmipat Singhania Public School, Jaykaypur
Patro won the tournament and were declared as
celebrated it’s 41st Annual Day on 14th Nov. Dr.
the Champions. They received the Champions
Ajit Kumar Panda, Dean, Computer Applications,
trophy from the chief guest on 27th Dec.
BPUT & Principal of NIST, Berhampur graced the
occasion as the Chief Guest of the function and
Mr. Pavan Kumar Suri, EVP (Works), presided
over the meeting and gave his valuable
messages. The Best Student Award for the
Session 2016-17 was awarded to K. Namita of
Class-XII, daughter of Mr. K. Sunil Kumar and
Mrs. K. Geeta. Three members of the staff Mrs.
K.K. Dikhla, Mr. H.S. Patro and Mr. G. Gouri were
felicitated for rendering 25 years of glorious
service to the school. The program closed with a
colourful cultural program which was
appreciated by all.

PPI Mill Manager Award Mr. P. K. Suri, EVP (Works),Unit JKPM


became the 1st Indian to receive the
prestigious Mill Manager Award 2016-
17 by Pulp and Paper International
(PPI). The award was declared on 29th
November, 2017 at Brussels, Belgium.
The award is the only global awards
dedicated to recognize the
achievements of companies, mills and
individuals in the pulp and paper
sector organized by RISI.

Chairman's People
Management Award
Unit CPM Fort Songadh has been conferred
“People Management Award 2016 -17. It is
top most Award and highest recognition of
J K Organization. Unit CPM demonstrated a
robust and sustained system of HR
practices making it significant Unit of Paper
Business to reach this highest level of
distinction twice in last 7 years. Mr. Bharat
Hari Singhania (Chairman), gave away the
Award on 133rd Founder's Day Celebration
held on 7th November 2017 at Air Force
Auditorium, New Delhi. Mr. N K Agarwal,
EVP (Works), Mr. N K Khanna, VP (Mfg.)
and Mr.. H K Sharma, GM-HR received the
Award for CPM.

FICCI CSR Award
Unit JKPM bagged the prestigious FICCI CSR
AWARD 2016 - 2017 from FICCI. This Appreciation
is conferred on JKPM in recognition of
Commendable Work as a Socially Responsible
Corporate in the field of restoring vision through
community outreach in terms of awareness,
screening & surgery of cataract, which reflects its
commitment towards the society. The citation was
presented by Mr. P. P. Chowdhury, Hon'ble Minister
of State, Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India in the
presence of a Galaxy of luminaries in a glittering
function held at New Delhi on 30th November, 2017.

Dr. B.L. Biyani Award


Unit JKPM received Dr. B.L. Biyani memorial
award for “the Best Paper” at 13th international
conference on Pulp, Paper and allied industry held
at Pragati Maidan during Paperex 2017 (1-3rd Nov).
The paper title “Innovative Approaches in
Processes and Operations to reduce Energy and
Utility Consumption: A Case Study” authored by Mr.
P.K. Suri, EVP (W), Mr. Mayank Jindal, CGM
(Mfg.)and Dr. Surendra Pratap Singh, Sr. Scientist,
PAPRI won the award for JKPM.

Unit JKPM received TPM Recognition
Certificate for Strong TPM Commitment
by CII TPM Club of India at 17th TPM
National conference held on 10th October
2017 in Chennai.

Best Emerging
Cooperative Society
Award
On the Occasion of the 64th All India Co-operative Week 2017 “Nagabali Agriculture
Cooperative Society Limited (NACSL), Jaykaypur” promoted by, Unit: JKPM was recognized
and awarded as the “BEST EMERGING COOPERATIVE SOCIETY” by Koraput District Co-
operative Union for 2016–17 amongst all Cooperatives in Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada &

National Convention on Quality Concepts Award
From unit JKPM, three Quality Circles participated and bagged excellence and
distinguished award in the 31st National Convention on Quality Concepts -2017 at
Mysuru during 1st - 4th December, 2017 on the theme – “Quality Concepts: Creating value
to the Society”. As many as 500 Industries from various parts of the Country participated
in the Convention and 1600 Quality Circle Case Study presentations were made. The
following teams have bagged awards in different categories

Best School in board results

Lakshmipat Singhania Public School, Jaykaypur got adjudged as the Best School in board
results by Center of Education Development, New Delhi. The award was given at the National
Education Summit held at Bhubaneswar on 10 Dec 2017.Lakshmipat Singhania Education
Foundation also received the Best K-12 Education Group for Global Collaborations Award from
Business World. The award was received by Dr. Madhuri Parti, Head of Academics, Lakshmipat

Diwali Celebration
A Diwali Milan was organised for Delhi based employees at HO on
17th October on the auspicious day of Dhanteras. Mr Harsh Pati
Singhania, (VC& MD), graced the event with his presence and
extended his wishes to all the employees and their families. A mega
fun event of Lucky Draw was organized funded by the contribution of
employees. Various prizes like LED TV, Microwave, Pressure Cooker,
Mixer Grinder, Induction Cooktop, Trolley Bags, Mobile Phones,
Watches, Iron etc were up for grabs.
At Unit JKPM Diwali celebration was held in Jaykaypur club of on 18th
October, 2017. The programme started with the Laxmi puja followed
by the beautiful performances by the Childrens of the employees.

133rd Founder’s Day Celebration


133rd Founder’s Day was celebrated at Unit JKPM with a great
enthusiasm. Mrs. Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, IAS , Collector & District
Magistrate, Rayagada , graced this occasion as Chief Guest. The
programme started by paying respect to Lala Kamalapat Singhania by
garlanding his statue. The Chief Guest felicitated the employees, who
have rendered their meritorious service of 25 /40 years in the Mills. of
40 years of service at JK paper Mills.A colourful cultural show was
performed by students of L P S Public School, LS High School. The
function was followed by the performance of a team of tribal girls of
Badachandili Balika Mandal & Dibyanga Students of Nutan
Gyanvardhani, Kolnara.

Kali Puja
Festival of light ‘’DIWALI’’ is celebrated as the
harbinger of luck, success & prosperity. On this eve
“KALI PUJA” was performed inside the colony of
JKPM. In Hindu culture Goddess Kali is considered as
the goddess of Power. Devotees celebrate Kali Puja to
be blessed by the mother of power with much
grandeur. Visarjan of Maa kali was held with a grand
procession on the Nagabali River.

Indoor Games Tournament


6th Indoor Games Tournament -2017 was held from 20th to
30th November for all members, ladies and children
category in badminton, chess, carom, cards games at
Jaykaypur club which was inaugrated by Mr.P.K. Suri, EVP
(Works).

New Year
Eve Celebration
The final countdown to 12 am on the midnight of December 31st is
arguably one of the most exciting parts of bringing in the new year.
There is something magical about the moment when the
clock strikes 12 and the crowd erupts in a loud cheer to
bring in the New Year! Sounds of people wishing a
‘Happy New Year’ blends in beautifully with the
firecrackers that adorn the sky. Streets, buildings and
homes are lit up and December 31st is no less than a
festival .At unit JKPM all the employees welcome this
new year vivaciously, it started with the cultural
programmes and games since December 31st evening
followed by feast and lastly concluded with the cake
cutting ceremony by Mr. P.K. Suri, EVP(Works).
At Unit CPM a gala program was organised on New
Year’s Eve. All MCS along with around 400 family members
attended the program and enjoyed the sizzling dance
performances by dance group, hilarious comedy performance by a
mimicry artist and Live DJ.There were lots of prizes to grab
including Early Birds, Best Dressed & Best dance for couple and
bachelor and kids. The best dressed couple was awarded to Mr &
Mrs Santosh Tiwari and best bachelor was awarded to Mr Gurmeet
Singh. The award for best dressed kid was given to Miss Khushi
