Art II Syllabus

Description of Class: ​Students will learn and expand on the foundational skills and 
techniques that were taught in Art I. This course will have an increased emphasis on 
problem solving skills, higher order thinking, and challenging the students’ creativity. We 
will be working with several different types of media and create many pieces of artwork. 
There will be a high expectation level from the teacher and the students should respond 
with their effort.  
 
Supplies: 
● Pencils (#2)
● 1 Box of Crayola Colored pencils (not erasable)
● 2 Erasers
● 2 Black Sharpie Markers (not pens)
● 2 Ultra Fine Black Sharpie Markers
● 1 Ream of white copy paper
● 1 pkg. unscented baby wipes refill (not hard container)
● 1 roll of masking tape
*All art supplies listed above will be used in the art room ONLY, do not write student’s
name on any materials

Teacher Interventions for Discipline Issues: (a discipline log will be kept 
in class):
First signature​ = WARNING can be verbal and sign discipline binder with the 
following exception:
○ a. Severe behavior that disrupts the learning of others will result in an 
office referral to short term ISS.
Second Signature ​=​ Parent contact and private discussion with the student. 
Third Signature ​=​ A C-Hall DETENTION will be assigned and parent will be 
contacted.  
Fourth Signature​ =​ AN OFFICE REFERRAL to an assistant principal; parent 
contact will be made by the teacher or Assistant Principal. 
 
Grading Policy: 

● Daily/Minor grades are completed in class or completed as homework if not finished in 
class. 
● All students are responsible for taking a photo of their final product on a ​MAJOR 
PROJECT​ and submitting it by the due date on Google Classroom: 
 
● All students are responsible for updating missed warm-up assignments, notes and other 
work on their own from my Weebly Website: 
​https://roachmsart.weebly.com/   
● A Daily/Minor grade consists of homework, completion grades, quizzes, project 
checkpoints, warm-up quizzes, and any given daily assignments. 
● Projects count as major grades 
● Projects will have ample class time to complete unless class time is not utilized

Minor Grades (daily assignments, warm-ups, homework) 40%
