CONTENT STANDARD
 The learner demonstrates understanding of the dangers of Intentional injuries on
the individual, family, and community.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
 The learner share responsibility with community members through participation in
community efforts to prevent them from happening or minimize their effects if
they happen to us.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES
 The learner demonstrates and understand of the types of intentional injuries that
might happen to you, as well as its risks to your health.

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of our lesson, you are expected to:
 Differentiate intentional injuries from unintentional injuries;
 Describe the types of intentional injuries.

A. Preliminary Activity

How are you today? We’re fine.
Before we start our lesson, may I request Classmates are you ready to play? Yes

B. Checking of Attendance

This time we will going to check your


attendance.

Ok! Let’s start from the boys, who is (Boys will say the name of their

C. Review

Recalling about the unintentional injury To save lives, to prolong life, to


prevention, safety and first aid, what are alleviate suffering and to prevent further
the objectives of first aid? injury.

just an exercise so don’t worry if you
cannot answer all of the items.

Okay class, let us read together the news


headlines in the slide, and then classify
them as to whether they refer to
intentional or unintentional injuries.

How did you distinguish between (Students will raise their hands.)
intentional and unintentional injuries?

Now that you can tell the difference


between intentional and unintentional
injuries, let focus on the intentional
injuries.

Okay class, What comes first in your mind


when you hear the word Intentional
Injuries?
Yes_________________? Intentional injuries are injuries resulting
from violence.
Very Good.

It can also divided into two – inflicted,


when a person harms himself/herself on
purpose and assault, when
person/persons harms another on
purpose.

First let us find out about suicide. All boys Suicide is the intentional taking of one’s

So many of those who attempt suicide do


not receive mental and emotional
counselling because their families try to
hide the problem because they are
ashamed of it.

Next, is Domestic Violence. All girls Domestic Violence is an act that

Domestic violence includes abuse and


actions such as: name – calling or put
downs and actual or threatened physical
harm.
Next is bullying. Yes ______________, Bullying is an unwanted, aggressive

There are different classifications of


bullying. These are: Verbal bullying, Social
bullying, Physical bullying and
cyberbullying.

Now, let’s read about Stalking. Everybody Stalking is a pattern of behavior that
please read. makes you feel afraid, nervous,
harassed, or in danger.

Stalking behaviors involve action such as:


Knowing your schedule, writing letter or
even stealing things that belong to you.

Let proceed to extortion. Yes Extortion is the act of using force or

Extortion can happen outside or near


schools wherein children are victimized to
give up their allowances, in exchange for

up.

Next, let us proceed to gang and Gang is defined as a relatively tough,

people who regard themselves and
may be seen by other as a group that
engages in a range of criminal activity
and violence. While fraternity is a group
of people with similar backgrounds,
occupations, interests, or tastes.

Young people join gangs and fraternity is


just because they feel protected and
looked out for if they are members of a
gang.

Let proceed to Kidnapping. All girls please Kidnapping is taking away or forcefully

The act is usually done for a motive like


getting a monitory reward or ransom
money.

Next is the Act of Terrorism. Everybody Is the use of violence for political goals

Terrorists commit acts of violence that


draw the attention of the local masses, the
government, and the world to their cause.

Let’s proceed to verbal abuse. Yes Verbal abuse is a form of cruelty that

are used to attack, control, and cause
harm on another person.

Verbal abuse is hurtful and usually attacks


the nature and abilities of the person.

The last one is the Sexual Abuse includes Incest is sexual contact between
(Incest, Molestation and Rape). persons who are so closely related that
a marriage between them is considered
illegal.
Molestation is the sexual abuse of a
person by an adult for sexual/pleasure
or for profit.
Rape is a forced sexual intercourse,
including vaginal or oral penetration.

If the three sexual abuses are met, the


sexual acts fall under a criminal offense
and it is punishable by law.
