Frequency jump, Band

Setting range : 0 ~ Max. Freq.

0 ~ 30 Hz
l This is to skip certain frequency range to avoid mechanical stress that the motor is
connected to.
l As shown in the picture below, if it has a preset jump frequency of 10 Hz and a bandwidth
of 5 Hz, it is not possible to set the target frequency within the range of 5.01 - 14.9 Hz. If
the preset frequency increases, the driving frequency jumps when the preset frequency
reaches over 15 Hz after running at 5 Hz. On the contrary, if the preset frequency
decreases, the driving frequency changes when the preset frequency comes to below 5 Hz
after running at 15 Hz.

FUNCTION GROUP 1

Slip compensation, Rated slip, Rated current, No-load current

Setting range : 0 ( NO), 1 ( YES )

Setting range : 0 ~ 5 Hz

l Rated slip : It is set on the basis of the rated number of rotations shown on the motor slip
and the number of poles. If the rated number of rotation is 1740rpm(based on 60Hz), rated
slip can be calculated as follows.
Rated slip frequency = ( 1800 - 1740 ) x No. of pole / 120 = 2 Hz

Setting range : 0.1 ~ 60 A

l Motor rated current : Rated current shown on the nameplate of motor.

Setting range : 0.1 ~ 60 A

l Motor no-load current : Motor current at no Load condition.

FUNCTION GROUP 1

Auto Retry

Setting range : 0 ~ 10
Output freq. trip
Function related : F48 ~ F50
l The number of retry : Number of retrial attempts
by the drive after resetting itself from a trip.

Setting range: 0 ~ 10 sec

t t time
l Retry time : Time delay before the drive resets
t : retry time
the trip and then engages retry..

l This is to prevent the motor from stopping itself due to a trip. If there is a trip, it is desirable
to get into normal run by using speed search functions (F48 - F50) along with retry
sequence. If the trip condition still exists after a complete set of retries, the drive stops
generating the output. In this case, the drive must be reset by using ‘RST’ terminal or the
Keypad of the drive. This feature enables hoist and crane to over-ride nuisance trips for its
continuous operation.

Fault relay mode

Setting range : 0 ~ 3

l 0 : The relay does not close when there is a Lv (low input voltage) trip and during the auto
retry sequence. However, it will close when the retry sequence has been completed and
the fault condition remains.
l 1 : The relay does not close in the state of Lv (low input voltage) trip.
l 2 : The relay does not close during auto retry sequence.
l 3 : The relay closes for every trip that occur.

l This function is used to set the operation mode of the fault relay in case of drive trip. Select a value

among 0 - 2, if there is no need for fault relay operation for Lv trip or during auto retry.

FUNCTION GROUP 1

l Stall level: This is a ratio based on the drive rated current.

l Stall prevention during Accel. : If drive detects its output current at the programmed stall
level, it stops further acceleration until the output current falls below the stall level.
l Stall prevention during Steady-speed operation : The drive will start to decelerate the
speed if the output current of the drive reaches the stall level during Steady-Speed
operation. Once the output current falls below the stall level, the drive will accelerate back
to its steady-speed level.
l Stall prevention during deceleration : The drive temporarily stops decelerating if DC link
voltage reaches over permitted level during deceleration. Once DC link voltage falls, the
drive will decelerates again. For hoisting applications, this mode is not recommended since
the load is fixed. Increasing the deceleration time is rather recommended.
l This function is to prevent the motor from stalling caused by overload during operation.

FUNCTION GROUP 2

Fault History 1, 2

l Drive collects and saves fault histories that occur during its operation. If the trip occurs
during its running sequence, Main Group displays trip information. If trip is removed by
using RESET key, information such as the trip content, frequency output, and current at the
time of the trip are saved in ‘H17’. It is possible to get the information about the frequency
and by using FUNC keys.

53
PROTECTIVE FUNCTION

5.4 Protective function

Protective function Description
Over-current Drive output is cut off, if the output current reaches over 200% of the
protection drive’s rated current
! Caution : There is a possibility of damage in power
module(IGBT). Be sure to check the drive completely before power
up sequence
Over-voltage Drive output is cut off, if regenerative energy due to the motor
protection deceleration or generative load makes DC voltage (DC Link voltage)
over its limit.

Current limit Drive output is cut off, if the current reached over 180% of the drive’s
protection rated current during the time set at F43. (refer to F43).

Heat-Sink over-heat Drive output is cut off. Overheat caused by failed cooling effect is
detected by the temperature element which is attached to a heat-sink.

ETH Drive output is cut off when there is any over-current 100% greater
than that of rated current (F44 - F46). Overload capacity: 150% / 1
min.
External fault signal External Trip terminal is set. Check ‘H1’.

Under-voltage Since there is a lack of torque or motor overheat caused by the

protection voltage drop of the drive, Drive output is cut off when DC voltage (DC
Link Voltage) of control circuit falls below 200V.

BX protection BX terminal is closed. Drive will restart when BX is open.

CPU error It cuts off the output of the drive when there is an error in main CPU
caused by system noise. It is possible to remove the error by pressing
STOP/RESET key.
Communication Error in the communication between the main unit and the key-pad,
error which has no influence to the drive operation. It can be removed by
replacing the key-pad.

MAINTENANCE

7. Maintenance
Since the iG series is an industrial electronic product with advanced semiconductor
element, it is likely to be influenced by temperature, humidity, and vibration and also there
can be some trouble caused by aging parts.
To avoid them, it is recommended to perform routine inspection.

7.1 Precautions
l Be sure to check the drive power input while performing maintenance.
l Be sure to operate only after checking discharge of power, because bus capacity in
electronic circuit is still charged even after the power is turned off.
l It is possible to measure correct output voltage only by using rectifier voltage meter.
Other voltage meters including digital voltage meter are likely to display error value
caused by high frequency PWM output voltage of the drive.

7.2 Routine inspection

Be sure to check the following before operation.
l The condition of the place to install.
l The condition of the cooling facilities.
l Abnormal vibration.
l Abnormal over-heat.

7.3 Periodical inspection

l Any loose bolt and nut or rust caused by surrounding conditions?
Tighten up or replace.
l Any deposit in inside of the drive or cooling fan.
Remove the deposit by using air.
l Any deposit in the drive’s PCB.
Remove the deposit by using air.
l Any abnormal contact in various connectors of the drive‘s PCB.
Check the connection of the connector.
l Check the rotating condition of the cooling fan, the size and capacity of capacitor,
and the connection of magnetic contactor.
Replace it if there is any abnormality.
