l 1 : Use preset variable torque curve which has a square reduction(2.0) of the output
voltage and the output frequency. It is used for fan and pump, etc.
l 2 : Used for special purpose. It is possible for the users to set the ratio of the output voltage
and the output frequency voluntarily. It is also possible to set 2nd points of the frequency
and the voltage between the Starting frequency and the Base frequency. Therefore, four
points of User V/F pattern in total can be constructed. See from F14 to F17 for more

Caution : There is a possibility that over-current trip takes place, if the block time of DC
brake is set to 0 sec since the DC voltage flows directly to the motor without free-run range.
37
FUNCTION GROUP 1
Setting range : 0 ~ 5 Hz
l Rated slip : It is set on the basis of the rated number of rotations shown on the motor slip
and the number of poles. If the rated number of rotation is 1740rpm(based on 60Hz), rated
slip can be calculated as follows.
Rated slip frequency = ( 1800 - 1740 ) x No. of pole / 120 = 2 Hz
38
FUNCTION GROUP 1
Auto Retry
Setting range : 0 ~ 10
Output freq. trip
Function related : F48 ~ F50
l The number of retry : Number of retrial attempts
by the drive after resetting itself from a trip.
t t time
l Retry time : Time delay before the drive resets
t : retry time
the trip and then engages retry..
l This is to prevent the motor from stopping itself due to a trip. If there is a trip, it is desirable
to get into normal run by using speed search functions (F48 - F50) along with retry
sequence. If the trip condition still exists after a complete set of retries, the drive stops
generating the output. In this case, the drive must be reset by using ‘RST’ terminal or the
Keypad of the drive. This feature enables hoist and crane to over-ride nuisance trips for its
continuous operation.
Setting range : 0 ~ 3
l 0 : The relay does not close when there is a Lv (low input voltage) trip and during the auto
retry sequence. However, it will close when the retry sequence has been completed and
the fault condition remains.
l 1 : The relay does not close in the state of Lv (low input voltage) trip.
l 2 : The relay does not close during auto retry sequence.
l 3 : The relay closes for every trip that occur.
l This function is used to set the operation mode of the fault relay in case of drive trip. Select a value
among 0 - 2, if there is no need for fault relay operation for Lv trip or during auto retry.

Setting range : 0 ~ 30 sec
t t/2 time
l Warning time : If the output current is
over the warning level, the Multi-Function Output terminal (MO) is turned ON after this
preset warning time. The MO terminal is turned OFF after half of the warning time when the
output current is below the warning level.
l Drive output will cease if the drive output current lasts for more than preset time in excess
of current limit level (180% of the drive rated current).
41
FUNCTION GROUP 1
l Current limit level is shown below and the amount of current is in RMS value.
l 1 : ETH selection
l ETH level : This is the ratio of rated motor and drive output current times constant ‘k’.
l Motor type : Set to <0>, if a fan is attached to the motor shaft. If separate power drives the
motor fan, set to <1>.
l It is recommended to consider methods for separate motor cooling effect, especially when
operating at low speed. ETH level is set according to the rated current shown on motor’s
nameplate. The standard value of ETH operation is 60Hz, 1 min. Based on ETH level
setting value.
l Example :
42
FUNCTION GROUP 1
If the drive is 2.2kW (11Amp.) and the motor is 2.2kW (8.6Amp.), the ETH level is set
to 86% when running with 60Hz. Drive will cease output and make ETH trip if the output
current lasts more than 1 minute over 8.6 Ampere.
l Retry selection in IPF : The drive will engage in to Auto Retry mode after instantaneous
power failure(IPF). This will enable the hoist to lift its load without interruption during
instantaneous power failure.
l Accel./Decel. Time: Defines the accelerating and decelerating time during the speed
search sequence.

44
FUNCTION GROUP 1
l Carrier frequency can be adjusted to decrease audible noise from the motor. However, if
set too high, there can be increased electrical noise from the drive, leakage current, and
heating of the drive due to switching loss.
l Parameter read : This is to copy the parameters of the Main Group into the Key-pad.
l Parameter write : This is to copy the parameter stored in the Key-pad into the Main Group
of the drive.
l This function can be used to easily copy a parameter list to one or more drives. The
display of the key-pad will change from <1> to <F54(or F55)> if the transfer of data is
successful, while it displays <Err> when error occurs. In this case, press the FUNC key for

FUNCTION GROUP 2
Fault History 1, 2
l Drive collects and saves fault histories that occur during its operation. If the trip occurs
during its running sequence, Main Group displays trip information. If trip is removed by
using RESET key, information such as the trip content, frequency output, and current at the
time of the trip are saved in ‘H17’. It is possible to get the information about the frequency
and by using FUNC keys.

PROTECTIVE FUNCTION
Current limit Drive output is cut off, if the current reached over 180% of the drive’s
protection rated current during the time set at F43. (refer to F43).
Heat-Sink over-heat Drive output is cut off. Overheat caused by failed cooling effect is
detected by the temperature element which is attached to a heat-sink.
ETH Drive output is cut off when there is any over-current 100% greater
than that of rated current (F44 - F46). Overload capacity: 150% / 1
min.
External fault signal External Trip terminal is set. Check ‘H1’.
CPU error It cuts off the output of the drive when there is an error in main CPU
caused by system noise. It is possible to remove the error by pressing
STOP/RESET key.
Communication Error in the communication between the main unit and the key-pad,
error which has no influence to the drive operation. It can be removed by
replacing the key-pad.

MAINTENANCE
7. Maintenance
Since the iG series is an industrial electronic product with advanced semiconductor
element, it is likely to be influenced by temperature, humidity, and vibration and also there
can be some trouble caused by aging parts.
To avoid them, it is recommended to perform routine inspection.
7.1 Precautions
l Be sure to check the drive power input while performing maintenance.
l Be sure to operate only after checking discharge of power, because bus capacity in
electronic circuit is still charged even after the power is turned off.
l It is possible to measure correct output voltage only by using rectifier voltage meter.
Other voltage meters including digital voltage meter are likely to display error value
caused by high frequency PWM output voltage of the drive.
