4 Ways to Embrace Being different

Accepting who we are that are different is difficult. Being different from others is difficult. The
society gives us a standard, an image that we need to be in ourselves. Those people who have a
standard that are deviating can often cause us to feel isolated.

We’re all different; we have different strength and weakness that God put on us to have
courage in being stronger. No one is born to meet the world’s standard, so we spend our days to be the
same with other people.

Here are four things to understand to be different:

1. Be different.

“Don’t try to be better than your competitors, try to be different. There is always going to be
someone smarter than you, but there may not be someone who is more imaginative. “ – Byron Wien

Being different makes you stand out. Having the same with others s doesn’t make you better or
different. Those differences can lead you to success because you’re different.

2. Stop comparing to others.

“To be beautiful means to be yourself, you don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to
accept yourself.”

Comparing to others is one of the easiest ways to feel bad at you. There are times when you are
surrounded by people that seem more accomplished, good looking, better job, and bigger salary,
physically fit, wealthier and smarter.

These negative comparisons are the path to unhappiness. They make you feel jealous,
uncomfortable, and pessimistic. They cause you to feel greater stress, anxiety and depression.
Comparing yourself with other just brings you up to failure.

Remember that you are not them. “Why are you trying to be like them, if you can’t be like
them?”- Ptr. Jimson

Comparison kills your own achievement.

3. Don’t depend on the crowd.

You and God alone are the only one that you can and ought to rely on. You may say to yourself
that you have your friends that are there to support you and a family to help you when you need help.
This may be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are not always there for you, that they
can’t help you every problem you had. There will be the time that the crowd you are in will bring you to
harm, sometimes the word of someone; you make it your sign instead of God’s word.

If you feel alone, no one wants to neither help nor talk you. Neither remembers that God is
always there for you He will never leave you nor forsake you. “Depend on Me to do the impossible. Do
not calculate what can or cannot be done by the standards of your own strength and ability. Instead,
depend on God and remember that the things are impossible with men are possible with God.”

4. Go beyond your comfort zone

Being in your comfort zone surely makes feel you safe, and no stress. It’s good to step out of our
comfort zone. Your comfort zone is full of sameness, you don’t stand out and you don’t grow.

Living outside your comfort zone means freedom, you’ll get to be different and explore. Like
Abraham from the center of a great civilization to go out to a land he knew nothing about and that was
the beginning of the people of God.

It’s difficult to be different. Even if you’re different there are people that will accept you. Don’t
be afraid to be different. A true different person depends on God. We need to break out from our
comfort zone to be different and to be useful for the kingdom of God.
