Objectives: Multiply 5-or more digit factors having 1 to 3 zeros in both factors without
regrouping.

A gasoline attendant sold an average of 1 200 litres of


gasoline a day. How many liters of gasoline were sold in 24
days?

What is asked?

The number of litres of gasoline sold in 24 days.

What are the given facts?

1 200 - the average number of litres of gasoline sold each day


24 - the number of days

What process should you use to solve the problem?

Multiplication

What is the number sentence?

1 200 x 24 = n

The number sentence can also be written this way.

1 200
x 24
4800 - multiply by 4
2400__ - multiply by 2
28800

Wrap Up

Any number multiplied by zero equals zero. If the zero on both


factors are found in the end, multiply the given number then count
the number of zeros found at the end of the factors and affix them to
the answer.
