Effects of our Eating Habits in our Body

Our eating habits affect our body in so many ways – positively and negatively. Our body
needs fuel in the form of food that we eat everyday, but the wrong kind of food can lead to
health problems.

Healthy eating habits affect our body in a positive way. It can help significantly improve
the quality of our life.

Healthy eating habits include eating more slowly, eating on a right time with the right
kind and quantity of food. We should eat more of fresh fruits and vegetables, fiber-rich foods,
dairy fresh products and fewer of sweet, fatty and salty foods. Eating slowly can reduce
overeating, heartburn, indigestion and feeling bloated.

Moreover, healthy eating allows our body to function better. We become more alert
and it boosts our energy level to do our daily activities because our body has all the nutrients it
needs. It also leads to a more sustained elevated mood and lower the stress level, in which we
always feel happy and less of depression. Being healthy improves self-esteem and mental state
and reduces the risk of many chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

On the contrary, poor eating habits affect our body negatively. It can impair our daily
health and well-being and reduce our ability to lead an enjoyable and active life.

Poor eating habits include skipping meals or not eating on a right time, fast eating,
eating too much or too little, not having enough of the healthy foods we need each day, or
consuming too many types of food and drink, which are low in fiber or high in fat, salt and
sugar. These unhealthy eating habits affect our nutrient intake which can cause serious health
problems.

Eating a limited amount of food or skipping meals has undesirable effects like poor
memory and concentration abilities. Eating too much can result to weight gain which will lead
to being overweight or obese. Fast eating and eating fatty foods can likewise lead to indigestion
and heartburn. Further, the effects of unhealthy diet includes poor sleep, reduced brain
capabilities, mood problems and can contribute to the risk of developing illnesses such as tooth
decay, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and depression.

As the saying goes “Health is Wealth”. Healthy food at proper time is very necessary for
the healthy body which is possible only through the well-balanced diet. It promotes the proper
growth and development of our body which keeps us mentally, physically and socially healthy.
It keeps us always happy and gives us feeling of completeness in which we can fight any bad
situations in life.
