Position Overview

Splash’s Project Implementation team is responsible for executing site engagement and behavior change activities at
school sites – all with an emphasis on sustainability. Members of this team are the primary liaisons between school
partners and Splash – they are a school’s primary point of contact at Splash and manage school relationships
throughout the entire lifecycle of our support. Key responsibilities of this team include working with schools to
clearly communicate Splash’s model and identify and document school commitments, conducting behavior change
activities for school staff and students, and helping schools ensure that WASH interventions are sustainable and last
long-term. These team members are also responsible for closely tracking and adhering to project workplans and
ensuring proper sequencing of all school-based activities, as well as documenting and recording details about Splash
work at each site.

The Senior Project Manager is a critical leader of the above-mentioned Project Implementation team. The Senior
Project Manager is responsible for supervising a team of Project Coordinators (who split their time between
management of Project Officers and conducting site engagement and behavior change activities at a subset of
schools) and Project Officers (who are 100% dedicated to site engagement and behavior change activities at a subset
of schools). The Senior Project Manager reports to the Project Director in Ethiopia and will work regularly with the
Behavior Change Design team (responsible for developing the curriculum and processes by which the Project
Implementation team works) and Infrastructure team (responsible for overseeing the installation of high quality
drinking water, hygiene, and sanitation infrastructure at all schools). They will also collaborate with the Monitoring,
Learning, and Evaluation (MLE) team in Ethiopia and with relevant team members in Seattle in order to ensure
global consistency, quality, and sustainable delivery of Project WISE interventions.

The Senior Project Manager will work within the guidelines of Splash’s established Program Standards and will
ensure that implementation reflects the organization’s commitment to quality. This position will also contribute to
future program design improvements, as well as documentation and sharing of best practices and lessons learned.

Responsibilities
 Lead creation of and tracking against internal workplans to help Project Team members accomplish their scope of work
according to implementation timelines
 Supervise a team of Project Coordinators and Officers, who are each responsible for conducting site engagement and
behavior change activities for a subset of schools
 Recruit and train new Project Coordinators and Project Officers, ensuring that all Project Coordinators and Officers
prioritize and receive regular trainings from the Behavior Change team and other internal groups, as needed, on an
ongoing basis
 Collect site-level feedback from Project Coordinators and Officers and communicate to the appropriate Splash teams
regarding all aspects of Splash’s WASH implementation, with a focus on ensuring the sustainability of our interventions
 Work closely with key Addis team members (including Senior Manager of Behavior Change, Senior WASH
Infrastructure Manager, and Project WISE Director) and Seattle technical leads to implement new strategies to promote
the long-term sustainability of our work
 Lead prioritization of processes to facilitate high quality, on-time entry of Project Team implementation data into
Salesforce
 Serve as key point person on Splash Addis team for tracking external donor deadlines, workplans, and reporting needs
(in collaboration with Project WISE Director)

o Liaise with Seattle Programs team to track different grant timelines, requirements, and reporting needs within
each Group for Project WISE, communicating those to all members of Addis team (across departments) as needed

o Liaise with Seattle Development Team to coordinate all donor activities, including creation and installation of
plaques at Splash sites and completion of donor-specific requests
 Suggest program improvements or new ideas where applicable, especially regarding initiatives that will improve the
sustainability of our interventions
 Represent Splash in a professional and positive way, while communicating with partners and coworkers with a high
level of respect
 Serve as an internal expert and champion for Splash’s global program standards, working closely with Splash technical
specialists and partners.
 Actively participate in Splash team meetings.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
 MA or MSC in a related field such as International Development, Social Service, Management, Education;
 At least 10 years of work experience in an applicable role.
 At least 7 years of experience directly managing teams and complex projects, preferably including the use of workplans
to track and manage work
 Highly proficient written and oral communication skills, including professional level of written and verbal fluency in
Amharic and English
 Detail oriented with excellent computer skills, including proficiency with internet research, data entry, Microsoft Office
Suite. Experience with a database, such as Salesforce, preferred.
 Ability to work and communicate effectively with Ethiopian and international staff
